TY guys! May your video radiate throughout the x wing world. So many people know nothing about bombs. I have used bombs since the start of playing and people always ask for the rules and clarifications and then asking about the rules again and again in the same match. Or I place them and then when they come into affect my opponent tries to 'correct' me. Example: bombs explode at the end of the shooting phase or I can't place mines as an action. These are actual examples from games I have played. People just don't familiarize themselves with all the rules and they stick to only what they use\play. I buy ships I never use in tournaments, only so I can practice with them. I use protons with Extra Munitions. Mostly because I like seeing an Awing or Phantom getting that direct hit and then dying without a shot fired. It was funny since I never thought bombs were useful and mines were the only effective explosive. No I see it the other way around. Mines are fun, but can easily be avoided like an asteroid. I learned this from playing Aturi when you have 10 mines on the field that need to be shot down. I just see bombs having more damage than mines since one does direct damage and the other you roll for. The reason I love them is people ALWAYS forget I have them. They try to get a range one shot and end up with a bomb in their face. Since Protons are one crit, evading shields, I can get a blinded pilot, damaged sensor array and so on. With the new bombers coming out you should see a surge in bombs, but I never skip a chance to use them when they are listed in the ships equipment slot.
18:40 You missed the strangest part of Connor Net. If you drop a Connor Net directly onto a ship that has not moved, it takes a damage, and gets 2 ion tokens, and loses its action but still executes the maneuver on its dial this turn. Then next turn it is still ionized, gets no dial, and does a white 1 straight.
love the video, but gotta say i'm a HUGE fan of the proton bomb as it just DEALS a faceup to the ships instead of causing them a crit. This means it gives the face up card despite any shields the defending ship has. I used this once to ruin 2 unscathed A-Wings when they both were dealt a direct hit. Also great for making your opponent worry about their new faceup card pretty early game. I've been using a pretty decked out Redline: Tie Punisher in a fun list where he loves revealing his 4 speed k-flip, dropping the proton bomb and using his existing target locks from FCS to cluster missile (1 lock to use missile, other to reroll, then re up the locks before second salvo) into whatever he was facing off against. I call the list "Target Priority" and use it to help newer players learn that valuable lesson.
Great video. Thanks so much. I couldn't stop laughing, however, at the beginning when you were explaining how the bomb fit into the guide--made me think of the flight crew on an airplane explaining how the seatbelt fit together.
Hey. Note on this video. It is at "playlist slot 3". in the "Strategy - X-Wing Miniatures Game (Star Wars) SlingPaint 3/12 videos" playlist. When this playlist auto-plays, a viewer would see this video after part 2. I was a bit confused when I just had this on "play-all" mode running in the background while working. Suggestion. Edit the playlist video order so that part 1 appears before part 2. That would improve the experience of a user on auto play watching the entire playlist. Thanks for making these videos and talking X-Wing. Fly casual. Pew pew.
Hey guys thanks for the videos. My co-worker got me into this game and its awesome. I'm about 4 months green and went to a local tournament. I lost but i learned so much. I'm going to another tournament in 2 weeks. looking forward to applying your suggestions. Thanks for the great videos. Keep up the good work.
My best bombing run happened the other day - K-Wing dropped Cluster Mines so that they overlapped 2 Defenders. 4 dice against one, 2 against the other. Plus an extra hit from Sabine Wren :-)
But the bombs detonate when they are laid upon a ship and Wren activates at the end of the activation phase, so if the bombs are gone how can that crew upgrade activate?
these weapons fall into 2 distinct categories mines which require an action, and bombs which are dropped when you reveal your maneuver dial. it would be helpful I believe to refer to each as such and not call all of them bombs.
+SlingPaint the tokens are two types, the cards call them all bomb upgrades, so I may not be completely accurate in my description. maybe not the best design decision on ffg part given basically bombs and mines have different deployment rules and different effects.
I'm pretty new to this game and picked up the Ghost expansion. Could you help me understand why they include so many thermal detonators when you can only use it once then it has to be discarded? Even with extra munitions we're only up to 2... and why is Sabine on one side of one of the TD's?
SlingPaint well there was the one large square one with the guides, but then there are four small round ones, giving a total of five. are the small round ones for something different? Thank you for the reply!

Thanks for this. You forget to mention that Proton Bombs Ignore Shields too.
Another awesome video there. Always good to see you guys doing rules videos and advice. love running 3x bomb firespray.

No, she activates before a bomb token is removed, once per turn.
Ion Bombs are good if you know you can bait your opponent to the board edge
Nice video guys. Enjoyed it. Been liking flying Deathfire lately.
Just FYI for anyone watching now that with cluster mines hits AND critics count. The latest faq states this.
Bomb Loadout is NOT a modification. It is a torpedo upgrade slot
correct... our fault if we misstated... -berto
+SlingPaint we're all human, being wrong is allowed, just wanted to make sure viewers got the info
Advanced Slam is what I use on my K-Wing. Slam for my Action and if I dont overlap anything drop a bomb!
ignore this
I can drop the bombs that are actions those are the ones I use, Cluster Mines and Conner Nets require an action so if I use those I can drop one.
yea I miss read it. it's why I edited to ignore it.
Thanks guys, great video.
these weapons fall into 2 distinct categories mines which require an action, and bombs which are dropped when you reveal your maneuver dial. it would be helpful I believe to refer to each as such and not call all of them bombs.
they are all bomb upgrades... you are "technically" correct!!!! thanks bud

Always beware the cluster moms. Always.
+CCSWE always!!
CCSWE pretty sure I'm married to a cluster mom! Lol
Where did you guys go?

that like any munition, they sometimes give two in a set to help for other ships in your list or the ship its self, Sabine part, good question..
SlingPaint well there was the one large square one with the guides, but then there are four small round ones, giving a total of five. are the small round ones for something different? Thank you for the reply!
Brian Reinicke those are just for the extra mission scenario if I remember correctly. So not for use in a normal game :)
Thank you +Kamikaz3Badger!
For proton bombs. How does that play with shields? It says a face up card. So does that bypass shields?
Ryan Sickles yes it does, which makes it very nasty and great for use by higher Piloy Skill pilots
So if I drop a Prox mine and it lands on 2 enemy ships, it does not damage both? I have to choose only one?
That is correct! - Nymz
not till wave 9.... the garbage truck
I'm pretty new to the game but my question is if a ship has shields does the bomb bypass them or is it just getting rid of them?
it just gets rid of them unless it states "Deals a damage card" or "deals a face up damage" etc.. - Nymz
SlingPaint thanks! I was about to get the K wing and wanted to know.
Hehe now captain nym...
I'm so immature...
