@@theclash24 I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully you can find some stock. AMG did say to me in an email "Reprints for existing products could continue as long as there is demand." Take that with a pinch of salt though. It is extremely disappointing, I put a lot of time and money into the game so I could play it with my friends.
Something to keep in mind: since Asmodee transferred handling to the game to Atomic Mass Games, there have been a number of rules changes that are colloquially known as "2.5" rather than second edition, but is officially still part of second edition and is referred to as such by AMG. The rulebook you get in the core set is very different to the one you download off the website. For instance: obstacles are much more dangerous, like asteroids doing 1 damage automatically, with a die roll to see if you take another. Also, you can make attacks against enemies that you are in base contact with. And perhaps the most important part is that there are objectives in play that alter how you play each game. As such, I highly recommend discarding the printed rulebook and using the downloadable instead, as the rules changes are significant enough that it will cause confusion.
I pinned this because it's correct and good reading, thanks for bringing up a great point. I took a look at the full rules prior to this video and made the decision to stick to the booklet as a way to reduce time-to-play for newcomers. I have run a few different game systems for people in the past and found that overwhelming people in their first game is usually detrimental, so I kept it fairly simple. That said, if you pick up the game and want to expand your collection to play with others in the community then the official and up to date rules are essential reading. There are many ways to play X Wing which I will eventually cover in future videos and how you play will be a matter of preference. Currently I am familiarising myself with the rules for core and epic games so I can do some bigger games with my friends in the Clone Wars setting. These game tutorials take longer to produce than my usual painting tutorials due to the amount of editing that goes into them, but I aim to get more of them out in due course.
"Officially" yes it's 2.5. Though it's disingenuous for AMG to try to call it second edition at all. So much was changed and is still morphing that at least as the most honest it should be called either third edition, or "the AMG edition". And it's a dead/dying game anyway so I don't know if a video like this will be anything but a well presented historical demo anyway within a year or so. Barring some massive relaunch/boot lol
At 10:03, I don't believe you have to spend an action to have R2-D2 recover a shield. (There is no "Action: " ahead of his ability.) Nice video. Warm regards, Rick.
Thanks. I'm ooking to start playing with my son. I ordered the 2nd edition core set. And looking at the local ads for used lots for sale. Does the Game Length (time) increase proportionately with the number of ships you add?
That's pretty cool, yeah generally if kept simple it scales in line with each ship's additional movement, actions and combat. I find that game length varies depending on the complexity of the special rules and abilities in play. Some builds and match ups can drag on, especially if you are unlucky with dice rolls or keep colliding with each other's ships.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, yes I have plans to cover the various ways to play in the future starting with the current tournament rules. Keep an eye out for that sometime in the near future.
Your local shop just recently stocked up? This video was posted four months ago too. With all the hush hush about Armada/X-Wing from AMG and Asmodee, the community here is wondering what is the state of the game. Are they developing new content or going to reprint current low stock? Is the license gone? Should I just not bother anymore? Wonder if your LGS has some insight? Does your LGS have an online store? Ship international?
I am not an authority on the subject of x wing so I cannot answer these questions or concerns. If I were you I would reach out to AMG for further information. The link for the Warp is in the description and last I checked they don't ship internationally.
@@JimsTableTopWargaming Awesome, thanks. I did the same few days ago. I will let you know what I hear. So far the response is, my inquiry was placed on hold while they investigate. We’ll see.
@@bobafett2243 Unfortunately I did get a response and it was just "if we had any info we would post it on our socials" so no answers to your questions.
X Wing is no longer being developed, please keep this in mind before jumping into this hobby.
Aye. Sad day. AMG really dropped the ball on what was my fav game. I’m hoping the community keeps second edition alive.
Will there be some other game in development instead or another company pick it up or is there just no hope
@@theclash24 At the moment there is no hope officially but there has been talk within the community of keeping it going unofficially.
@@JimsTableTopWargaming I wanted a few standard 2.0 stuff for me and my son to just play

I personally don't like objectives. I came to fight. So fight I will. UwU

Looks a bit different to when I would play, can the old models be used alongside gen 2?
Yes, however it does require the purchase of a conversion kit to bring the cards and tokens up to the new standard
Great video, could yo also add one with the so called 2.5 rules?
