Thank you! I must have a crushed finger tip injury. It’s so great to hear someone talk about this. I’m three weeks post injury and working on desensitizing

You were the only video that knew my problems. I crushed the tip of my finger 20 years ago. My finger is sensitive but not too sensitive. Things feel different with that finger. It hurts so bad when it is hit. It was more sensitive in the cold too. I've spent about 20 years avoiding it being touched. I have done little things. I use it when I know the tip can't be harmed. Typing is hard. A new keyboard is easy. A older keyboard where the keys stick I couldn't push.

Thanks so much for this. I just had surgery on my finger to remove a cyst, and I thought the pain I was feeling was from pressure on the stitches when something pressed against the bandage. Now the stitches are out, and it is still extremely sensitive at the incision. And yet there is numbness at the fingertip which the doctor said should go away over time. I flipped a light switch with that finger today-- ouch!
    You have given me hope.

I had a partial finger amputation, from the top joint up, so no fingernail anymore.
I'm healing very fast, and I'm ready to start adjusting sensitization so I can use it again. These are amazing tips. Thank you!!!!

I'm glad I came across this video. My thumb have been having tingling pains for more than 2 yrs now and I've consulted with a number of ortho doctors but no one has given an exact diagnosis yet. They had me on xray but saw nothing. The calcium+d3 vits somehow lessened the pains, but overall it's still there. And now my index finger is starting to tingle as well. Idk what to do or who to consult with.

I was taught to rub the hypersensitive area for 1 minute per texture using the textures you have shown in your video, for up to 10 minutes. I’m also taught that you rub the contralateral side too. How many minutes do you tap or rub the unaffected contralateral side to train the affected side on how normal sensation should feel?

I was a guitarist i had a partial amputation to my pointer finger on my left hand (my fretting hand) now I fear I’ll never be able to play again I didn’t lose a tremendous amount of the finger but it’s been 6 months since the injury and my finger is still entirely sensitive to touch so much so I can’t even push the strings a little bit , any advice other than the phenomenal tips in the video ?

My dad amputated half of his index and middle fingers. In therapy they would make him tap the table. Rub different textures like playdoh even velcro. The therapist would massage the scar too a few minutes with lotion. They would put pennies in a bin with a bunch of marbles and he would have to find them and pick them up. Of course because they are shorter he is limited but he is back to building furniture and using his tools

I sliced my finger tip off using a mandolin. The skin has grown back but unfortunately the tip is still very sensitive. Are they any specific desensitizing exercises you could recommend and how long does it take for the nerves to calm down?

Are you asking a question that is answered in the very video you're watching? This entire video IS THE answer! Do these exercises and it will desensitize. I lost from the knuckle up and have used these exercises to reduce nerve pain and numbness.

i had surgery on the top of my foot when i was 6 years old. i used to crawl around like a kitty. one day, a small triangular piece of glass got into the top of my foot. it was deep enough to need to be excised. i got xrays and my first surgeon cut me open but “couldn’t find the piece” so they just stitched me up & said it probably fell out. a year or so went by and i was still having pain. i got xrays again and the new surgeon saw the same piece of glass in my foot. the second surgery was successful... i am 21 now, and throughout my whole life, that scar area and a bit around it have felt awful. the most uncomfortable feeling ever, super sensitive, numb, sometimes painful, sometimes burning or tingly or even twitchy. i’m going to start to try to desensitize it. i’m hoping that even though it’s been so long, i get some relief. it’s pretty constant and i feel like i’ve just gotten used to it and never told a doctor. i’m not sure if i should- but it is extremely sensitive. thank you for your advice. it’s hard to find this stuff directly related to scars and surgeries online.

Hi i had an Injury on my ring hand middle finger. Actually the finger tip got sliced by the sharp glass and after 3 months post surgery. The condition of the injury is it got some new hypersensitive skin and scar. Barely can’t do anything with my hand. Can’t hold a glass of water or a cup of tea. Its tingling all the time. Sometimes feels like electric shock. On the top of the my finger got stiffness all the time, had pain inside, swelling and etc. My therapist told me your finger tendon got cut. I have less mobility in my finger. She gives me few exercises. I Just want to know is it will be okey or i have to take it with me my whole life?

I just had surgery for tenosynovitis on my left wrist at thumb side.
I see lots of videos about exercises for tenosynovitis (that were for those who didn't already have surgery).
And saw only a couple patients who made a little video the day or two after their surgery.
But I am not seeing any videos about after care, and physical therapy, and desensitization, or warning signs of something going wrong for those who had already gotten the surgery.
Is there a way u could make a video on that, or know of a video u could suggest to me to watch, or have any tips/info for any of that?
I mean I have my first PT appointment tomorrow.
But the area, including the scar is so incredibly sensitive, almost like a burning kind of pain, and just one small spot that is still completely numb.
The area is a little swollen still.
Gets a little purple-ish when I am cold.
But it is not red or hot to the touch.
And the incision itself was/is healing perfectly fine.
I have been using my comprehension sleeve.
And a brace when I am trying to physically do anything (doc wants me to use it for another couple weeks yet).
And have been taking ibuprofen and icing it.
I had the surgery about 3 weeks ago.

Thank you for your videos! I had bilateral carpal tunnel surgery back in October. From the moment I woke up, my right middle and ring fingers were hot, and very numb. The heat subsided a week ago, and some of the ultra sensitive skin also has reduced a bit too. Those fingers are still very numb. I can’t easily touch type with them, and they are very annoying rubbing against each other, as it feels as though I have thick finger stalls on both fingers! My hand gets stiff from time to time too...so these exercises I’m hoping will help! They felt good! I just want to ask if you have any exercises that I can do that will help bring the feeling back in my fingers? Thank you so much!

Hang in there. My finger started to feel close to normal 6 months post surgery. Now that it’s more than 1 year, the finger is fully functional without pain and sensitivity. Hang in there. Do the desensitization method and try to get back to normal activities. With prayers and faith, it will all get better🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

My ring finger is sensitive to touch and so I struggle to hold things due to these sensations. My physio checked my central nerve system where I did feel pain on an area of my back in the middle and on either side of my upper back by the shoulders but the sensation in my finger when he asked me to see if there was a change, there wasn't it felt the same. I feel this in my ring finger and middle and small finger in both my left and right hand. So could it pherifiral nerve damage ? My physio doesn't know for sure and he said suggested that I see an Hand specialist. I'm really concerned and I want to know what's causing this so I can get rid of it. I've had it for 10 wks now.

Hi. I broke my wrist over a month ago and am about to get cast off. I did not need surgery for wrist it was non displaced and just had cast on. My question is my two fingers are so super sensitive I don’t even touch anything. I declined the carpal tunnel surgery and am worried that I declined the surgery but just wanted to heal the wrist. How long can this sensitivity last. Thank you.

Ann Bergmann it is hard to say how long it would take. There are many factors that can cause this. But it is important to figure out how to reduce the sensitivity so you can use your fingers! Have you seen a hand therapist?

What about a finger that feels normal in general, but if it ever experiences any kind of impact, it's exponentially more painful than it should be. For example today I quickly reached down to grab a kitchen towel, and on the way down wrapped my finger on the corner of the counter. For any other finger it would have been nothin. For this finger, it felt like someone was squeezing it in a vice for almost 5 mins.

Hard to say- tiny slivers of metal or wood can get into the fingers. May not hurt to get it checked out just to make sure.

Hi, so here's my story and I need help. I severed my median nerve and cut both my tendants when I was 23. I was suicidal and depressed at the time. Since the surgery, I had to have carpal tunnel surgery to release a compressed nerve and get rid of scar tissue. BUT...my hand is still very tingly, and numb all the time. When it gets cold it hurts way worse and my hand doesn't like to hold anything. I am always in so much pain but I don't want to take pain medication to relieve it. Please help. I am now 31.
