Great video, thank you! I have a question if you don’t mind? I had a mastectomy and expanders placed 7 weeks ago. My progress has been unusually slow and my pain has been unusually high. I’m working with a pain management doctor now in an attempt to control it so that I can make progress with a physical therapist and continue my reconstruction, as I haven’t been able to start filling my expanders yet. I’m experiencing all the pain you mentioned in the video, including hypersensitivity, but one of the biggest problems I’m having is with swelling (of course painful swelling), specifically on the sides of my breasts/expanders, under my armpit and into my side and back, as well as the top part of my breast. This is more severe on the side where the lymph nodes were removed. I have tried a million compression bras and none of them work because even if they place the right amount of pressure on the sides of my breasts under my arms, they put too much pressure in pushing down on my breasts, then after a couple hours my breasts throb even worse. Because of all of this, is the best way to relieve this painful swelling (which is also constricting my arm movement) to just do gentle massage? The pain and arm restriction has gotten worse on that one side in the past few days (some of the swelling, like in my armpit and back is squishy, and the swelling at the top and sides of my breast is hard). And I’m not sure what to do to relieve it. I was supposed to have an appointment today with my physical therapist, but she canceled because she’s ill. So I have to wait another week before I see her. In the meantime, I don’t know as it’s necessary to see my doctor because I saw him a couple weeks ago and he did an ultrasound on the swelling and said that it was normal and not a seroma or anything. And my breast isn’t red. So I’m just looking for a way to relieve some of the pain and swelling and be able to move my arm while I’m waiting for my appointment next week. I’m just really surprised that I’m 7 weeks post op and still in this much pain, as well as feeling like I was making progress and now the last few days the right side feels much worse. It’s confusing and exhausting, lol. If you have time, I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you so much. 😊
What do I do if the pain level is so high with the meds I am on (no epidurals any more) that I am not able to perform the simple exercises to help keep swellling down?
