Wow Michelle, thank you for gathering up all these precious easy-to-follow exercises in one video & for practicing them real time instead of just showing them! ☺🙏 You give me hope that one day my fingers will be fully functional again!
thanks so much! I've come to your site a couple times now over the last two years and you've always been a great help and you have such a pleasant and assuring manner too. Wonderful work!
Thank you so much - this is just what I needed. I had wrist surgery 6 weeks ago and my fingers are very stiff. This video is so helpful, as is your one for the wrist. I shall be doing these daily now as it is really making a big difference.
Hi i am from India. Thanks a lot dear.i am suffering from o.a.from march 2023.today i came across your channel and started doing the exercises along with you. I feel relaxed .My right hand fingers thanked you so much. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much Michelle for collating these fabulous exercises into one video. I've been doing these and others from your catalogue since my cast removal, after a wrist fracture (distal radius and ulna) in September, have made a good recovery as my fingers were very stiff (thumb and index finger weren't even in the same neighbourhood!) and now I can easily form a C with each finger and almost a full fist. Courtesy of the fracture and being immobilized in a cast for 6 weeks I also discovered thumb arthritis - and your videos have been tremendously helpful here as well. Now need to work further on wrist strengthening, in tandem with a recent diagnosis of adhesive capsulitus (frozen shoulder) which explains tge increasingly intense shoulder and upper arm pain since the cast removal. Yikes - a whole heap of pain, sleepless nights, and a long journey ahead I understand, meanwhile it's important to acknowledge your kindness and generosity in sharing your expertise and exercises which have helped me so much with wrist and hand recovery.
Awww thank you so very much for sharing this practice! its the longest I've spent working my fingers with so much love , attention and in all ways! who knew!!! :) You have such a sweet persona and voice. Your videos are so well shot too, its easy to see what exactly needs to be done! Much love and gratitude 🥰🙏
I got fractured my middle finger then it was buddy taped to ring finger and at post fracture recovery I found both my middle finger and ring finger got stiffen and could not bend from middle. I am following your different videos and getting better day after day.
Hi Michell many thanks for all the exercises they are really helping me especially the exercises for both hands my left ring finger was very painful when I try to open these exercises help me for both hands I can open them but some times a bit stiff thanks a lot
Thank you so much. I’m recovering from a boxers fracture and was feeling a bit down about the status of my hand. Your videos are excellent and keep me motivated to recover. Thank you again.
@@VirtualHandCare but l have a question ,why is it that when am trying to bend the triggered finger it hurts like it's kind difficult 😔thou am still forcing it to bend
@@VirtualHandCare I had a severe dislocation and fracture of the L ring finger on 3/23/23. Surgery on 3/30 required a plate, 3 pins & 2 screws. . Middle ring & pinky fingers all affected with swelling and stiffness. Nearly 4 months later, I still can't make a fist. I am unable to move the DIP/PIP of the ring finger without forcing them. What exercises can you recommend that will help me?
I was able to undo a small knot in a string today after doing just a few of these yesterday!!!!!!! You'll probably understand why that's such a victory 🎉🎉
Thank you so much for these excercises, I have Duyputrens Contracture on my left hand but a still bend all the fingers and straighten then, the little finger and ring finger are the ones affected. I am doing your excercises and they are helping my hand feel more normal. Thank you so much, so glad I found you ❤
Hi Michelle your brilliant exercises are very good and very good illustrations . I had surgery if my wrist had plate and 9 screws fitted . My fingers are stiff and still unable to do a proper fist . How can you help me do this . I have a trigger in my little finger on pip and is slightly bent how can I improve it .
So grateful for your video. Smashed the very tip of my index finger on my dominate right hand. Fractured the bone. Ten stitches plus glue on middle finger 9days ago. Ouch this video is really helping me. Cannot wait to get the stitches out Monday morning. Thank you!
On Jan. 17, 2023, I broke my wrist very badly. I've been frustrated, lately, with my P.T. and love your exercises. I was one of those patients, who had the hammer side to side, like you said. This was early in my recovery and because of the weght of the hammer, which was a small size, it was very uncomfortable and hard to hold. I was, also, told to wiggle my fingers. I was surprised to never get a cast, I had a splint and I could not wiggle my thumb. Then, I was given a brace, which kept rubbing on the middle inside of my thumb. When these devices were removed, I had a VERY STIFF thumb, which hurt like the dickens! I am still in P.T. and even though I have told my P.T. that my fingers, hand, and wrist were swollen, it was only a few days where he started working on the stiffness. My surgery was on Jan. 23 and I'm still having the swollen fingers with tingling (feels like they are asleep).
July 2, 2023 THANK YOU for all the wonderful exercises, but right now especially this one. After being in a cast for 6 weeks, I was so stiff, I didn’t hope to be able to make a fist soo soon! I’m almost there!!
Hi there, I saw your comment now and this kind of gave me hope. I had a right 3rd metacarpal fracture and I had a cast on for exactly 6 weeks. Removed it last week Thursday. But my fingers are still super stiff and it gets worse when I wake up in the morning. I can’t make a fist yet. Just my fingers coming down half way. Please how long did it take you to come this far to success ? I’ll appreciate any encouragement from you 🙏🏿
@@CHUKWUELOZONAMOKONJOR Hi! Well…. It is a slow process . It took me 8 weeks, but now I can make a proper fist 🤜. The first three weeks I wasn’t very diligent but after that I did the exercises at least once or twice a day. It still gets stiff in the mornings but after a warm pack and some exercise it eases up. Don’t despair, it’s a slow progress, but it will get easier. And I think it’s important to notice and appreciate any little progress, it spurred me on to keep up the work.

Hi Michelle, I broke my proximal humerus 3 months ago and I had a plate with 9 screws put in. My hand on that side has been swollen and has progressively gotten very little range of motion, pain, and stiffness. My surgeon said to wait 3 months before doing anything. He finally put me on steroids and the swelling is not as bad but I still can't straighten or bend my fingers. I did these exercises but I am barely moving my fingers before pain sets in. My index finger will not straighten and is curved. Do you have any videos to work on that? Insurance will not pay for OT so I found your video. I will keep at it and hopefully I can get my hand use back. Thank you for making this to help me! I like your style and appreciate that your video takes me though the entire set of exercises.
Many thanks Michelle, I am doing these exercises daily for about a week, I struggle with MP block because of joint stiffness is there anything I can do to help with this
Michelle I enjoy your exercises. I broke my pinky on left hand 2 months ago. It’s been out of cast after pinning surgery about 5 weeks. My pinky is still so swollen. The cast was too tight. I see there’s an electric hand messager. Do you think I should try it? I bought a soft ball to squeeze. I’m doing this set of exercises twice daily. After exercises my pinky hurts. Also my wrist hurts. I’m wearing a simple wrap on my wrist. Also how long do I sleep with my hand on a pillow? I’m in Calabasas, California.
I am a atypical Parkinsonism patient. I used to have very good handwriting. Now, I have very small handwriting & I can’t read my own handwriting. I wonder whether your hand finger exercises would help. I’m going to try!
Hi Michelle, I have been having left little finger pain with heavy stiffness since 4 years ago, but after seeing the video and practice since 4 days, it looks good, able to type keyboard. it will be 100% better in 15 to 1 month.
I broke my wrist (non surgical) 8 weeks ago. My fingers are still quite stiff and I'm unable to bend my thumb at all. Can you suggest any exercises I can do to help strength and increase the motion?
Hi Madam, At night time, my left hand index finger is very stiff, I can't even bend my finger. I had a partial flexor tendon tear. But in the morning with a little exercise I am able to bend my index finger completely. It will be really great if you help me out what exercise I should do to get rid of stiffness waiting for comments.
Hello I found your video and can barely do the c stretches with my right hand fingers. If I keep at them, will I get better range of motion eventually? Sorry if that’s a dumb question!
I have a question my wife just had surgery on the middle finger tendon still has stitches, but she can move her fingers little but her finger hurts because she can not lower it much that exercises can help her move her fingers and if after the stitches are removed she will be able to do a little more movement in her fingers.
Do you have anything for finger swelling? What the cause behind the swelling? I'm just healing from a hairline fracture in the dip of my index finger. It is healed, but I need to go for physio for two weeks for it. How often should I perform these exercises? Hope it helps to calm down the swelling. I'm due to return to work afterward. My work involves lifting. Are there any extra tips? (Trys to make claw) mmhhh. Sigh. Sorry, I'm anxious to return to duty.
I'm a guitar player and just turned 65. My fretting hand (left) has been getting worse with common OA in the index and middle - literally cramping my playing. When I do your PIP blocking bend my left index snaps - kind of a clunk and wips down. I guess that's trigger finger. Any suggestions to help that? Assuming I should just continue the exercises regardless. Thanks so much for your therapeutic vid's!
