While no one could replace Mister Morrison, Ian Astbury is the best replacement........A very talented man.......Ray and Robbie are Gods.....I was able to see The Doors in The 21st Century live back in the early 2000's......So incredible........
That was GREAT!! I think Ian Astbury was Excellent!! I seen him with the Ray and Robbie when they played at Taj Mahal That was a Dream come true with VH1 In 2005 I went with my Xhusband.Thats to bad Ian left.I was to young when Jim was around. Ian did a Great job as the Front Man.He gave a Great Performance. He helped bring doors music alive along with Ray and Robbie. I was crushed when Ray Passed. God Bless him .Thanks to Robbie to.🎹🎸🤞
I love The Doors with Jim Morrison, I love The Cult with Ian Astbury. When I found out he is going to sing in this new formation (past time by now as he is touring with his former band) I was very excited and was not disappointed at all. I don't know whether those people who poo poo him ever seen him performing in The Cult especially in the mid-late 80s. He is a great performer himself and should not be compared to Jim Morrison although surely he resembles him slightly. I thought he did well.
I love that Astbury kept his own distinctive voice on the Doors 21C tour/s. The band were great, just last year. I also liked the Cult for vague reasons, and find the fit of Ian for Jim excellent. That DVD with other singers sharing his role is also great fun. Long live the (other) two main composers of the Doors.
I love doors music and the cult as well. It is weird but lovely - amazing the similarity between Ian and Jim nowadays, but loved the result. I bought the DVD and enjoy it very much, they rock!
I think he did it Great!!! Should say THANK YOU Ian Ashbury for being part of Doors music!! I was to young for Jim in his days. IAN You did a Great job!!! Can't Thank him enough for being Doors front man!!!!!! I saw Ian at Taj Mahal in August 5 2005 THAT WAS THE BEST SHOW I ever.!!! seen!!!!
Any chance for this music to get played by any of the Doors was a great thing. I always feel sad that the beautiful, wild genius Jim died so young, he was a vey insightful, intelligent creative force that would have contributed very much to the world had he been around for a few more years, much like Jimi Hendrix. I miss them very much and Ray too.
Ian is almost 40 here, and he looks alot like jim too, and he sounds like jim would sound when he would have bin almost 40 imo, so picking Ian for the job was the closest thing to jim, the doors ever had.
@AlfrescoBulimia: A Changeling can also be 'A changeable, fickle person'. such as in the Jacobean Play 'The Changeling' by Thomas Middleton and William Rowley. Jim was very much into European literature and poetry. The lyrics of the song are: You gotta see me change See me change Yeah, I'm leavin' town On a midnight train Gotta see me change Change, change, change ...
A changeling is a creature found in Western European folklore and folk religion. It is typically described as being the offspring of a fairy, troll, elf or other legendary creature that has been secretly left in the place of a human child. Sometimes the term is also used to refer to the child who was taken. The apparent changeling could also be a stock or fetch,
This a great version of the greatest band ever! He’s no Jim Morrison but he’s better than other sings trying to front the Doors! There’s one other guy that pulls it off too I only saw one video though but I was thoroughly impressed!
LOL no reason but greed? Like they stopped caring for the music? They stopped wanting to share it? Get a grip. Densmore is such a wuss they probably didn't want to play with the whinny sh*t anyway. Ian is like Jim, a very strong voice but not always the prettiest voice. Blending 2 of best bands......very good stuff.
Ian may b a good musician in his own right, but he neither looks nor does he move or sound anything like Jim. There is no one in this Earth who ever could.....4 me this was really hard to watch.
Being a drummer myself its harder to watch this without John Densmore on drums. John is a very underrated drummer, I put him right up there with the greats. He invented a style of drumming all his own. THats very hard to do, respects! Though the drummer here is doing a good job it just doesn't have that swing/swager that John has. This is one of my favourite songs because of the way John swings this funky tune! He plays the right fills & is so musical.
DesignPro2002 I totally agree. ...I saw John 3 times, twice with the Door's and once when he had his own band Tribal Jazz ,,,who BTW are excellent. John is also a great human being, a fine man.
jacky pattersont I thought that if Morrison actually lived to be 40 or 50 years old I thought he'd look like Ian Astubury did and I don't want or intend to make you angry or anything like that but Jim Morrison had a singing voice that nobody else could imitate that is why in the doors movie by Oliver Stone Val Kilmer is actually singing the doors songs and gets credit for it in the ending credits which says "performed by the doors with additional vocals by Val Kilmer " the only singer who a lot of people were able to replicate exactly and to sound really good and convincing when they did it was Elvis Presley but I agree with you about some of the stage moves because Ian Astubury never did that shamen Indian dance on stage like Jim Morrison did but I do think that he was really good at acting crazy like Jim Morrison did though no offense
This guy acting like Jim, singing changeling. Irony is rich here. I am young, but old enough to know that no one can replace the lizard king. Why would anyone try to emulate him? Its insulting.
Regardless, this is a cheap shot. Very sad. As if the surviving members don't have enough money as it is. There is no reason to do this other than greed.
I THINK ONE OF THE DOORS BEST TRACKS BUT AS MUCH AS I RESPECT AND LOVED THE CULT WHEN I WAS YOUNG IT,S PRETTY HARD TO DO THIS SONG ANY JUSTICE COS NO ONE HAD THAT WHISKY AND TOBACCO SOAKED VOICE LIKE JIM
Wow!! Ian Astbury was a great fit!!! :)

Wow, Ian Astbury just totally captures and channels Morison's total persona! Unbelievable.
what an incredible similarity in look and voice, i can't believe this
Beautiful
awesome! I saw this show 2x! I wished they'd come back.
Ian is almost 40 here, and he looks alot like jim too, and he sounds like jim would sound when he would have bin almost 40 imo, so picking Ian for the job was the closest thing to jim, the doors ever had.
i would totally picture jim morrison doing concerts like this if he was still alive..man i wouldnt miss it for life
sounds a lot like Jim!

Jim’s favourite :)
Oohh snap Ray's got jokes
You knew this had went on way way too long when I noticed there were more people wearing The Cult shirts than The Doors at a show.
?
It means: Watch me change, observe the change in me.
@s3422722 He means Changeling as someone who changes as he likes.. nothing more, nothin less...
reminds me of page and plant money
Wouu
Where was this?
LOL no reason but greed? Like they stopped caring for the music? They stopped wanting to share it?
Get a grip.

Could ian try to look at little more like Morrison. So tacky.
Not much of a song. Don't know why they bothered resurrecting it.
It was good when Jim did it... No one can recreate that
