The opening riff with Jims vocals and Rays organ has got to be the gutsiest, ballsiest ever. Just straight ahead in your face Morrison. One of my fave Doors tracks.
My favorite Doors album. Feel like their unique sound of blues, jazz, primitive -from the gut vocals and Morriosn's spot on poetry all came together on LA Woman. Thanks Jamal!

I LOVE it when you do The Doors, my favorite band of all time. I was listening to them in the womb (I'm 34 now). I named my English Mastiff Morrison. Yes...that obsessed lol. Fun fact: The band actually never had a permanent bass player. They would get a player to play on the albums only, but when playing Live, the keyboardist Ray Mazurek is the one who played bass on his keyboards. They even got Elvis Priestley's bass player on one album, which Jim was ecstatic for! Try the song Soft Parade; then temp changes about 5xs but definitely an underrated classic.
Love the name of your Mastiff, and thanks for the fun fact. I did not know that. I had a husky-timber wolf and his name was James Douglas Morrison. We also had an Iguana named Jim and one named Pam. My husband loved this band so much and he had at least 75 Doors tee shirts. When he passed away I had his shirts made into a quilt. It came out awesome. We also played Doors music at his wake and even though he wore a suit, the shirt he wore was a Doors shirt. When we got to the cemetery gates the day we buried him it started pouring rain and on the radio Riders On The Storm came on. I didn't have the radio on but several people came running up to tell me. Sorry this was long
Your the best Jamel! Jim's voice was changing but late 1970..... Jim's 5-6 year run had taken it's toll. And he never recovered. Nobody in the history of man kind had a 5-6 years run like Jim Morrison. IMHO.
Oh yes, great song by The Doors, from one of their best albums! Jamel, I highly recommend another song from the LA Woman album called "The WASP". You'll love it!
1 of my all time favorite Doors songs. 1 that definitely “flies under the radar” as the man said. This track has such a great feel for such a downbeat oriented groove.
This was recorded in a small home in LA somewhere , Jim was in the bathroom singing and the boys in the living room or den , plus he was just done with the music stuff at the time . It was the compromise they came up with to get him to sing .
G-R-E-A-T Choice! The Changeling is The Doors getting back to their blues roots but also with a distinct funk/James Brown influence. Finally, I will note that Doors drummer John Densmore was a huge John Coltrane fan and heavily influenced by Elvin Jones (who played drums w/ Coltrane).
You should do both Peace Frog (that immediately leads into) and Blue Sunday, the way they are joined together on the Morrison Hotel album. Only 5 min. combined.

Jamal's comments about this part in the lyrics were spot on: ""I had money and I had none, But I've never been so broke that I couldn't leave town,." Jim Morrison was planning to leave Los Angeles for Paris when they were recording this. Jim wanted to get away from the rock lifestyle and focus on his poetry/writing in Paris. I've heard other members of the Doors speculate/comment on this. Of course, Jim in fact went to Paris a few months after recording this album. Unfortunately, he passed away after being in Paris just a few months (and at only 27 years old).
"I'm leaving town on a midnight train". It turns out Jim was prophetic. He left before the album was finished for Paris and never returned. Thanks Jamel

Down and Dirty Doors here. LA Woman might be my favorite album by the band.
L.A. Woman is a fantastic album! Hyacinth House gets me in my feels every time.
Great song!!
That's one of my favorite songs all around. Magic 12-string and sympathetic lyrics.
That song more than any other demonstrates his male voice, 100% man there
