I really like how you put specific emphasis on the fact that all of these classes are essentially the top of their vocation or specialization even at lower levels. A fighter is more than a common soldier, a cleric isn't the same as an ordinary priest, and wizard isn't the same as an arcane scholar. Even a lowly level 1 fighter adventurer is a cut above the average.
This is what i'm missing on DnD, i thought fighter is just your average dude but when i used it i realized that the class is proficient with every weapons and armor which i thought was weird because I'm at level 1
@@ghiffaribara2949 yeah I had to explain to some players in my game that the priest they were talking to couldn't heal them, he was an ordinary priest rather than a fairly rare cleric.
I don't think Larian usually does expansions.... I think they're more likely to start working on Divinity (Original Sin) 3 after a break period. Which, tbh, would also be very cool. Divinity may not be DnD as far as I understand, but DoS 1 and especially 2 are *very* good games and I'd wager many fans of BG3 would still enjoy playing through DoS2 afterwards.
Parian doesn’t really do expansions, and if they do, things get really odd and hard to balance past level 12. To the point that it creates too many possibilities to put into just an expansion

@@chiefinasmith I ended up just going pure circle of the moon druid cause I really want to see how far wild shape goes in the game. If I want to change (or I might save this for another playthrough), I'll go with a sorcerer/warlock multiclass. I haven't gotten much time to play the game though cause I'm in the middle of my finals.
1st playthrough - went in blind with literally zero knowledge of BG or D&D. Picked a paladin, and while learning all the game mechanics was really tough at the beginning, I ended up having an absolute blast. From playing other fantasy (A)RPGs like WoW and Diablo, my idea of a paladin was basically a holy protector of the people, so I played as devotion pally, tried to make all the good choices and basically save everyone and everything lol. But he felt like a natural-born leader for our party, and ended up saving the world and getting good endings for everybody in my group. Never really multi-classed caused didn't wanna overcomplicate things on my 1st playthrough, so by lvl12 he was an absolute beast. 2nd playthrough - wanted to try the Dark Urge, since I heard good things about it, and what a different experience that was lol. Went with a warlock cause thematically it felt like a good match, but by the end of act 1 she still felt kinda weak, so SURPRISE - multiclassed into paladin again lol. But went with the Oathbreaker to keep up with the Dark Urge theme. That was a pretty insane combo imo, with a Pact Weapon I was able to make 3 attacks per turn, and with warlock spell slots regenerating after a short rest, my evil paladin was unstoppable, and ended up literally taking over the world haha 3rd (current) playthrough - decided to try a sorcerer, as I've had Gale as a nearly permanent party member in my previous playthrough and liked all the magic stuff, so wanted something kinda similar but still fresh/new. I just spent the first 90 hours exploring Act 1 (still finding new things in the world after 2 full playthroughs, which is crazy), but I dunno if I'm feeling this class tbh, it's not as "new" as I expected. It's basically a very limited Wizard with a slightly different twist, i.e. sorcery points/meta magic. Don't know if I should multiclass into something else or respec entirely, or just power through it and see if it gets better in Act 2 and 3. Also, as a side note, it's crazy how even on my 3rd playthrough I still find new secrets in the game, new quests, new locations, not to mention the insane number of diaogue/story choices and consequences. I guess it helps that I don't just check google/youtube for every possible solution and outcome before making a choice, I just try things to see what happens and roll with it. The game is a lot more fun that way imo. Needless to say I am absolutely obsessed with BG3, if it wasn't yet obvious by this wall of text (sorry about that)
Great video idea. Thanks for this! Hope you're having lots of fun with your next playthrough. I'm playing a Circle of the Moon Druid, vaguely Good and very committed to being rid of the parasite.
Cleric and barbarian can make a good pairing on multiclass imo A lot of cleric spells don't have concentration and are one-off buffs you throw up after a long rest, with many of their other features synergizing well with a tanky melee build. Spiritual Weapon is also a very good one to use too, although it does have the slight flaw of taking spellcasting modifier. Altogether, you get to roll a lot of utility into your tank while sacrificing minimally on the damage front. I think it works out very nicely
Good stuff, love it dude. The multiclass meta is going to really open this game up. I'm going super casual on my first playthrough, but I can't wait until I can play with player char and party comp meta later.

Thankfully Larian already had the excellent engine/system from Divine Divinity and could build on that.
The DnD Druid should be called Shaman. If we look at folklore around the world it's the Shaman that can shapeshift into bears, wolves, etc. Yes, Shamans has existed in Asia, Europe and Africa too, not just in America. It's mainly in Nordic Viking lore you can find shamans who turn into Bears but also in the Celtic culture you have shamans that can turn into wolves, stags, etc. Druids however in the Celtic cultures draw their power from alchemy and had the ability to prophesize. What is the best choice if I want be able to persuade people and solve situations diplomatically? I’m not too concerned about what kind of combat style my character has, I’m more interested in dialogue options and such
Late reply but probably bard, then at level 3 pick the college of lore subclass. You’ll have more skill proficiencies than you’ll know what to do with, and with the high charisma you’ll need for your class, your dialogue skills will be even higher.
@@RaphaelAmbrosiusCosteau51 Thanks for the reply! I ended up playing a sorcerer due to them using charisma for spell casting. I also enjoyed the combat way more than I thought I would, so I think I made the right decision for me with the sorcerer.
I think WotC should have given the Monk combat maneuvers and superiority dice, not the battlemaster fighter. That would have made more sense, and made the Monk a viable martial class with something powerful and unique...And perfectly flavorful. But you can't take that subclass away from the Fighter now. If you want to play a martial artist that's actually good, you have to play the Fighter, not the Monk.
hello mr Mortismal, I hope you see this. Im not sure if my game is glitched and soft locked or what. I have defeated ketheric thorm and now my part is stuck in their end of day clothes, i can't talk to lae'zal in camp even though she has a ! above her. Its time to go west to baldurs gate, but i cant get there. if i try to leave moonrise towers i take shadow curse damage and die. what did you do after killing thorm?
What class suits best to narrative where my life was spared by an evil twisted god and in exchange for my life, I am given his powers and tasked to form a cult in his name and try to conquer and vanquish the other religions?
Quick question. On your warlock playthrough did you take a feat to get med armour proficiency? or multiclass as can see your dude rocking at least +1 scale mail a lot in your footage.
Hi Mort. I'm someone who got into CRPGs through pathfinder and used your vids as my source as a new player. Could you do a vid about the similarities and differences between Pathfinder and Baldur's gate?
so i'm playing thief rogue, but there's an issue i'm running into while trying to pick pocket people, it is that even though i was succesful at pick pocketing they will immediately beeline for me asking me if it was me, and currently i'm not running high charisma so i can't really talk my way out of it, there has to be other ways right? can't i just simply hide away or run away til the heat is off?
Is it possible to be a Dragonborne Eldeitch Knight? That’s kinda my goal once I finally be able to play the game. Sadly I don’t have a pc yet. Wish it was on console.
I need advice, I really want to play through one time as a custom character and would love to play as a rogue but I don’t want to cut Astrion out of my play through. I don’t plan on taking him all the time but I would like the option to. Is having two rogues in the party a bad idea or is it manageable
is it possible to let all party roll perception/history/religion etc in dialogs? i got talkative Wyll, but he is not very good at those things and often miss skill checks. Kinda funy that 3 ppl standing next to him and Gale can`t say smth like: " bro i know this, trust me". At pathfinder at dialogs you could use all party members best sides:(
PF: WotR has a lot more going on than BG3. Not only is the PF ruleset a lot more complicated than 5e, but they've also had more time to patch and fix things. BG3 will likely get a "definitive edition" just like DOS1 and 2 got...In about a year, and it'll be the superior version with (hopefully) fixes to things like that. Because yeah, even in table top D&D, this is how it's supposed to work. Not where ONE person always has to do ALL dialogue.
I've tried Monk. Another YTer summed the Ranger as a class that does everything some other classes do but worse. I feel like Monk is the same way: squishier, less alpha damage, less opportunities to make use of gear, less overall usefulness than a Fighter who can tank AND deal damage AND debuff if you go Battle Master. If you want to be sneaky, you're better off with a Rogue and their multiple skill proficiencies as well as access to light armor and better criticals. I don't think any other class needs as much CON as Monk does. As if that wasn't enough Monk proficiencies are niche, their damage is single target oriented for a good portion of the game, and you have to use a different character for CHA rolls in dialogues. Monk really doesn't have anything going for them. It's there for people who want to RP. Also I hoped Larian learned from their mistakes and at least added more skill checks for niche skills they decided to include. It feels like these were an afterthought and they sprinkled them on top of dialogues and quests they have already made, rather than tailoring them to each other.
Too bad i can't speak with animals to thank you, cause you're the goat!
🌽y but I like it

Late reply but probably bard, then at level 3 pick the college of lore subclass. You’ll have more skill proficiencies than you’ll know what to do with, and with the high charisma you’ll need for your class, your dialogue skills will be even higher.
@@RaphaelAmbrosiusCosteau51 Thanks for the reply! I ended up playing a sorcerer due to them using charisma for spell casting. I also enjoyed the combat way more than I thought I would, so I think I made the right decision for me with the sorcerer.
I hope they'll add high level content to the game with an expansion or something, because I really don't like low level D&D combat.
Currently playing as Dark Urge Pally, needless to say i broke my oath on the first day.
Thank you for this, Mortym
Perhaps you could review the races and their mechanics.
i've been frozen on picking a class sigh
Multiclass is where it's at. Champion + bard + fiend fun vibe. Reclassing and multiclassing to the other people vibe is fun.
Rogue goes "Sneak attack ! Sneak attack ! Sneak attack !"
I was so annoyed of that drow at the goblin camp that I literally just lured her unto the bridge and shot it. Girl is so funking dodgy
Good Work keep up!
I play a dual wield warlock. So far I’m a level 5 warlock and level 1 fighter as a teeth-ling
This is awesome
I think WotC should have given the Monk combat maneuvers and superiority dice, not the battlemaster fighter. That would have made more sense, and made the Monk a viable martial class with something powerful and unique...And perfectly flavorful.
But you can't take that subclass away from the Fighter now. If you want to play a martial artist that's actually good, you have to play the Fighter, not the Monk.
I’m want to be able to be super fast and have great mobility monk dragon sounds like the class for me.
hello mr Mortismal, I hope you see this.
Cleric
Quick question. On your warlock playthrough did you take a feat to get med armour proficiency? or multiclass as can see your dude rocking at least +1 scale mail a lot in your footage.
I took the feat yeah
I want to try berserker with thief rogue. Bonus action throw twice per turn and carry around a bunch of powder kegs
I appreciate that the classes are in alphabetical order
Perhaps larian will raise the level cap in the future, with an expansion?
Hi Mort. I'm someone who got into CRPGs through pathfinder and used your vids as my source as a new player. Could you do a vid about the similarities and differences between Pathfinder and Baldur's gate?
Really appreciate the videos but please also take some time off and don't stress yourself too much.
Barbarian: Grab a stick and yell f**k you at the enemy.
Can you update this?
Clerics rise up
Ill have to try wuthrad of thé greybeard tribe for the bard class
Commenting for algorithm.
I ended up making a BARD-BARIAN
free comment. normal cut.
so i'm playing thief rogue, but there's an issue i'm running into while trying to pick pocket people, it is that even though i was succesful at pick pocketing they will immediately beeline for me asking me if it was me, and currently i'm not running high charisma so i can't really talk my way out of it, there has to be other ways right? can't i just simply hide away or run away til the heat is off?
Is it possible to be a Dragonborne Eldeitch Knight? That’s kinda my goal once I finally be able to play the game. Sadly I don’t have a pc yet. Wish it was on console.
I need advice, I really want to play through one time as a custom character and would love to play as a rogue but I don’t want to cut Astrion out of my play through. I don’t plan on taking him all the time but I would like the option to. Is having two rogues in the party a bad idea or is it manageable
If youre not playing on tactician I wouldnt worry about it
is it possible to let all party roll perception/history/religion etc in dialogs? i got talkative Wyll, but he is not very good at those things and often miss skill checks.
Can bards manipulate the enemy with their music?😂
