See this is something this mod does well that I simply can't understand why other beta mods don't do it. I get the appeal of using the indevelopment material that was given at the time but for all the assets which ultimately DID end up in retail, why not use those instead? I hate the beta combine soldiers. The retail actually felt like real enemies so it's cool that they got used over the older soldiers
The beta has a much more diverse set of textures, many of which were designed with the specific intention of encapsulating the style of a certain cut area in the game (such as the Air Exchange and its concrete and corroded metal, C17 and its industrial hellscape, the Citadel and its grungy tiles, Vertigo and its old, decaying wood walls and art deco design, or the Hyperborea, which is more or less just like being within an icebreaker ship.) I'm not sure what that comment about the retail soldiers feeling like "real enemies" is supposed to mean either, unless you're referring to how this map is less combat focused and more of a set piece demonstration.
An ancient evil, the tank doing absolutely nothing while the strider tore into it is what inspired me to learn source modding

Not everything got it's way into retail, for example. The old citadel. The cut enemies, most of the guns, the old story, and models / textures.

Why are there Zombines in HL2 Beta, those didn't exist until EP1. Completely unheard of in HL2, let alone the beta
I’m guessing there are now 2 vertigo mods. This one, and the one made by Wolfclock. Yet 0 for Kraken. Kinda sad, though Vertigo is very interesting.
