I adore train levels in games especially source games
or even just levels that happen to have trains in them such as hazards in TF2 maps
I just remember how people would always gather around in Gears 3 to see the train go by after triggering the secret, then go back to gnasher spamming.

I know this is a month old, but fun fact: Valve is terrible at making trains.
Theres not 1 (one) valve game where the trains actually fit on the tracks properly.

Man, this map's so cool, I also really love the sound design in it, it sounds oddly realistic and I could totally see myself sitting down in one of the cabins and listening to long videos while on my way to another city.
Also that lever to toot the horn? Essential.
TTS is perfect for this map, especially if you try to do RP at the same time with appropriate player models. Massive Hercule Poirot vibes.
There was an old map with planets, there was an underground bunker on an ice planet. There was also a non prop spaceship. That map was awesome, but GMod updated and it was lost.

Passing _other_ trains is such an underappreciated addition. It grounds the map a lot, making the world feel alive.
im surprised you picked this one and not the other ones, this one is still being worked on unlike others, i also remember reading that hes gonna try to make the glass breakable, which would be really nice

Just wanted to correct something, player ragdolls are basically ghosts, they pass through anything that isn't static, so props, doors, breakable geometry, etc. This also means they are unaffected by things that push or move props, like the trigger on the ground.
As someone who really enjoys levels set on and/or in vehicles, this map is perfect for me. I've only played it once, but now that they've added chairs and stuff, I might play around on it a bit.
these are my absolute favorite types of maps, they're all fantastic
my favorite is rp_icerailway, a huge map and heaps of details
@@rcpwProductions Yeah, icerailway is an awesome map. My favourite feature that places it apart from all the other maps is the fact that you can just stop the train and get out, I find that so cool.
TTT_Terrortrain is the best gmod ttt map imo simply because of this.

this map reminds me of the train map in hitman 3. that one is also really cool.
playermodels don't move in the same way as props because vanilla playermodel ragdolls are handled clientside.
install a serverside ragdoll mod and try it again.
keep corpses if you intend to achieve the same with npcs.

completely by chance an actual train sounded its horn at the exact same time as you pulled the lever. matched up perfectly. freaky part is I jumped back 10 seconds to listen again, and it happened again...
it's not the most original concept, but this one is probably one of the nicest
5:58 that's an engine limitation, vanilla player corpses can collide or interact with only a handful of entities, to save performance. if you got one of those "player keep corpses" addons i imagine it would be pushed backwards

I remember filiming on this map for a April Fools day video and I had no idea the prop trains use all of the blank track so I was in for a surprise

I've only seen one other GMod map which featured a moving train, zs_obj_857_to_phoenix which was less detailed but featured the moving train illusion.

1:35 IIRC, I believe this was how level E1M3 in Blood, named Phantom Express, looked like the train in the level was moving. The whole tain was stationary and the ground was what was moved in an infinite loop.
Yep! Was going to say the same thing, but this is just how the Phantom Express worked. It’s extremely clear if you jump off and watch the blood decals/sprites.

I really really like this map, I've played with it a lot making little scenes and messing around
there's a fun version based on snowpiercer featuring a weird portal and attacking trains and an assault mechanic and ai and an automated turret, the turret does bug a bit if power is cut but can be fixed with a combination of something
Player ragdolls are not effected by push forces or really anything that would effect props or ragdolls spawned by the player or map and don't have collision with props, entities, and npcs
You should check out Cruiser Canyon, it's a nice map for flying LFS/WAC. It also has some interesting features, like the huge ship in the sky that lets you fire a particle beam. All in all, a great experience.
i would love to see a Snowpiercer RP map and servers, just feels perfect for gmod

the developer said he dabbled with horror first right? I almost feel like the night version should have a little innocent horror easter egg or something, like maybe when another train passes by, there will be a shadowy figure hanging on. just watching.
I want a train map like this, but with a day-night cycle and drastically changing environment! Something cross-country, hell, maybe even inspired by the orient express.

Another train-based map that popped up recently is just called "Train Test" by Bombasticked. It's basically a giant, working trainset with switchable switches and a very interesting mix of environment themes (or the beginnings of them, anyway. Right now it's just props and dev textures). I'd keep my eye on it as it develops; could make a very cool video once it's done. UA-cam won't let me post links, but the ID is 2761142407.
