    Just 10 Patches that I have made from scratch, mainly evolving sounds and all with FX (because I love FX). Been getting to know the DeepMind 12 a great deal more, testing out the modulation capabilities and FX routing. This is a great Synth and proving itself to be a Pad Monster...Just another 100 patches to make...

      the busness needs new stuff to sell - and when everything is explored, go back to the old stuff and sell analog stuff again, limited possibilities is what people want, after they reached borderless possibilities. :-)
      its just a weird species, you know

      millions of futuristic digital sounds lie in our PCs: re-making well loved analog (or hybrid) sinths is the only way for sinth-makers to survive the software sample libraries invasion, and VAs , even when good sounding, remain software beasts

    I brought your first bank of patches for this....you should hear them through a pair of QSC K12's cranked....thanks to programmers like you, I can concentrate on writing the music and spend less time on patch creation (I find patch creation fun in of itself, but my full-time job gets in the way of music, sigh).

    Behringer have upped their game a lot and it is obvious with the DM 6 and 12 that this is the case, so well done to Berhinger for doing so !! I would love to add a Deepmind 12 to my home studio if I had the spare cash (which I don't by the way) but it wasn't so long ago that you would look the other way at some of their products, a few years back I can remember being told not to touch Behringer studio monitors with a barge pole as they were rubbish, but aside of the Deepmind 6 + 12 Berhinger also recently gave us their version of the iconic Model D analogue desktop synthesizer for a fraction of the price that you would pay for a real Moog, so who is complaining now ?? lol :-)) It might be true that Behringer are the Daewoo of the music world because Daewoo cars have copied many other manufacturers on the road and so have Behringer have copied other synthesizer manufacturers too with such models as the brand new Berhinger MS-101 which is a clone of the famous Roland SH-101 and although I don't know the price of it yet I'm pretty sure it will excite those of us who cannot afford the by the real thing and now there is an arpeggio feature added to it as well , I mean it looks pretty damned impressive (Google it and see for yourselves) Then a few years ago Berhinger gave us the Behringer Nordic Lead......so no guesses for who this was trying to copy !! they also copied Oberheim's OB-Xa, Roland's VP-330, and the list goes on.......incidentally watch this space for Berhinger's other new products including another Roland clone the VC340 which is being re branded by Berhinger called the VC-330 which is a strings and vocoder synth !!
    So move aside everyone and let Berhinger move in and WoW us with all their latest clones so that those of us who cannot afford the real stuff can now enjoy a slice of the pie, lol :-))
    Glen :-)

      They're still making cheap, garbage-quality audio gear regardless of whether their nice synths are exceptions or not.
      I'd say that they've "expanded" their game as opposed to "improving" it.

    Well i spent yesterday hours in a store and tested behringer deepmind, mophox 4x, prophet, elektron analog key.
    Most time i spent on the behringer to be honest.
    Yap, the presets are sick with effects, but turn it off and the sound is greeeat, and the realtime controls at THIS price, too.
    Lots of inspiring stuff there for my taste.
    Waiting for Deepmind6, i love 3octave keyboards.
    The more expensive synths sound more clean maybe, but i love the dirty feeling, also of the amazing mono minibrute.
    An analog synth has to be in my setup a BEAST. :-)

      @GEOSynths  7 років тому +1

      Haha...I like that description "Whipped Cream for the Ears"...may quote you on that for my website. You'll have fun with it, there's a lot of patches already on the Synth, but I found a lot of them drowned in reverb, which I don't use much, prefer delay. My patches are made from scratch and cover a wide range of sounds, but this Synth really excels at Pads/Strings...anyway, they'll be released at the end of the week.

    • @graxjpg
      @graxjpg 3 роки тому

      You don’t like the control sequencer? Just kidding, me neither. I use my keystep for other things but thinking about the routing possibilities I could use the arpeggiator for real BPM and route the midi out to the keystep and the midi out of the keystep back in. Disabling midi thru on both of course.

    So far my favorite sounds from this synth are the electric piano emulations. With 12 voices, if this was multitimbral it would be a no brainier to pick up.

    • @TheSlowGrowth
      @TheSlowGrowth 7 років тому +3

      Multitimbrality is difficult with the architecture. The HPF is global, as are the effects. How do you define which of the parts/presets control those? I think its better to leave a feature out if it would only work "kind of okay-ish"

    hey man, I'm tossing up between the DSI Prophet rev 2 and the deep mind twelve. The main decider for me is the price difference between the two. Do you thinks its truely worth putting the extra cash towards the DSI?

    • @GEOSynths
      @GEOSynths  5 років тому +1

      Hi, it depends...First off, there's isn't a "Perfect" Synth, so you have to decide based up how good it sounds to you...otherwise, you'll end up wishing you bought something else. That said, i've made patches for both, more so for the DM12 and to be honest, they are both excellent Synths. The Oscillator Structure of the REV 2 is a lot more diverse and to have 2 Saw's on the DM12 you will lose 1/2 of the voice count (though there is a way of thickening). The Filter is a bit more Musical on the DM12 and the FX and Processing are far superior on the DM12. More routing/modulation options on the REV 2, plus you can Layer Patches, which you can't do on the DM12...Also it has a Sequencer...You can 'sequence' to a degree on the DM12, but it's a bit crap. Neither choice is bad.

    Can you combine the arp with polychord mode for experimental chord/melody progressions?

    • @GEOSynths
      @GEOSynths  7 років тому

      You can create chords with Poly Chord and assign them to certain keys, then turn the Arp on and it will play the notes one by one that are in the chord. In the Arp settings you can change the mode (like Up, Down) to Chord and it the Arp will play the chord from the key trigger, as a rhythm. If you then move down to PATTERN, you can then add different rhythmic patterns to the chord, including gate length etc...You can also create your own patterns....Quite a flexible approach really, not made much use of it as yet....Only downside is that it is global, it can't be saved for each program.

    • @motoboy6666
      @motoboy6666 7 років тому

      So if you have assigned 1 chord to one note and then play that and that and 2 regular notes with arp on, will it play "chord > note > note > chord > note > note" ...and so on?

      more of the factory patches- I think i have your second patches and havent had a chance to go tru them all but there nice- just wonering why all the patches have diff volumes maybe i should use balanced cables or use headphones out or settings

      I make my patches a certain way and then once completed, I check them with a Level Meter so they are a similar level. Obviously, a 1 Oscillator Lead will be quite to a degree than a huge Unison, but there are ways or sorting it out. I suspect as the Factory Patches were made by lots of different people, then they would have made them a different way.

    ignore the price point,this is a great sounding synth

    Very impressive when a great synth is in the hands of a great sound designer. Very inspirational as well for me as a sound designer. But sad too, I will never own a Behringer because of my long history of products with them, 20 years of undependable products, all failing in the first year or two. Just can't invest in them anymore, too expensive in the long run.

  • @johanneshej4940
    @johanneshej4940 3 роки тому +1

    Nice playing! I just don't get why every patch has to be drenched in effects. Why not show what the synth is really capable of soundwise? I usually only add very little delay to my recordings. I think analog synths sound the best without effects but I know that's not a very popular idea today.

    • @GEOSynths
      @GEOSynths  3 роки тому +3

      I love FX and I really only use Chorus and Delay mainly so to say "Drenched" is a bit over the top.

      Harry Merchant Wow. I never heard any of that nonsense. It amazes me the stupid things people say on the both the left and the right(and every other political and religious persuasion.). I never read much of the things he said. I mainly like his work from about 1975-1982.

    This synth is a touch hollow but its JUICY, and a touch crunchy. It slices too. Think i'm going to go for it. You're all just DSI fanboys, and so am I but this thing can definitely sound great.

      I had a Prophet 08 and while it is good for modulation, I never liked the Filter...sold it and got an OB6, which is a great deal better, but out of the 2, the DM is proving to be more flexible and sounds nicer and more complete because of the FX.

      GEOSynths Yeah, I dont't know what it is about many of the DSI filters, but I also haven't been able to enjoy them. Different stroke for different folks, I guess.

      Poly D for directness (no memories, no menu diving) and that amazing sounding VCO (one per voice though if used polyphonic) and Juno chorus. DeepMind if you always wanted an Oberheim Matrix-12 for tons of modulation :-)

    for all "budget-synth's-fighters over here: respect. A sound can be as good as the programmer .. I am not so much inspired by this synth, because I miss the aggressivity .. After a while, people will notice about that .. and wonder, how other synths can sound much more full .

  • @janeway1111

    For the price it's great. But to my ear there's something missing from the sound. Maybe it's UA-cam compression.

    • @hostnik777
      @hostnik777 7 років тому +3

      It's not UA-cam compression, it's cheap components in an overly ambitious first attempt at a synth by a company that has no history of success with synthesizers. I applaud their effort, but it just doesn't hold up sound-wise. People these days are mesmerized by checklists of features and have forgotten how to use their ears.

    • @brosephjames
      @brosephjames 6 років тому

      The other synths roughly in this category would be prophet rev2, prophet 08, novation peak, vintage juno 60. Your best value would be in software where you can find general retro style synths (u-he Diva) to faithful recreations of monster classics like the Jupiter 8. This synth doesn't sound like garbage btw, it sounds good for what it is and what it cost.

    I am suspicious of Behringer producing something decent. It sounds OK and build doesn't seem too shabby (except for an effing Fan?? thats just a timebomb.) I will still stay away for the time being and see where they go from here.

    • @benanderson89
      @benanderson89 6 років тому +1

      The fan isn't a time bomb, a LOT of analogue gear have fans inside them to keep things cool, especially vintage gear (the fan inside the original Prophet 5 is gigantic, relatively, as an example).
