  • Long form "Window Tour" of a lot of lo-fi ideas.
    Patch Packs : gumroad.com/jorb
    Plenty of tips and tricks, not necessarily ones to use all on one patch, but plenty of ideas for you to take, modify, combine, whatever fits your song, jam, or preference.
    Looking for feedback on format, this feels long for the information I mean to be sharing, but still lots of good details throughout, especially if you aren't super familiar with the deepmind.
    Thanks for watching, enjoy!

    Really enjoy the workflow tips in this vid, like how to edit multiple envelopes at once, map the matrix automatically, etc

    Very cool video as usual man, the Deepmind's got such a broad spectrum of sounds that can come out of it. As to what you were saying at the end i think it was a good format, all of the tips and ideas you went through definitely are under the umbrella of lo-fi sounds, also i dig the arps/sequences you play when you are talking, makes it very chill and soothing to listen to 👍

    This is so, so good. Perfect format. I really appreciate how you explain what you are doing well enough to follow along, but then play it long enough to really listen and appreciate the music. I’ve been wanting a keyboard for the mpc, not wanting another midi co troller, but also not wanting to spend thousands on a synth that I’m not even sure what I want. I’m going to be saving up for one of these. It seems like a perfect entry point to move past software synths. Appreciate you.

    p-parameter drift? I love that this being a modern synth they of course have numerous options to fuck it up and make it sound like a broken Casio❤️

    This was solid. A lot of the stuff is stuff i figured out for lo-fi too, but you also dropped a lot of new ideas! T-Ray is my JAM. (PM is ironically the magic fader to me, cause it's so simple)
    I like the meandering format. Chapters might be nice with the length.

    Good info. Yes this works good and it's all linked together so I think it was ok to meander a bit with the presentation. I made a really good patch with the first technique you showed. I ended up using LFO 2 to modulate the filter frequently a bit but linked it as well with the mod wheel. I used the pitch up to open up the delay and I put the polyphony in mono with a bit of portamento. Octiving down to a lower frequency, I held a drone note then went back up to the higher octives and got a really good lead sound that was much like a Theremin sound while manipulating the porta. I also added pressure mod to the filter .also added bass boost.( And a bit of velocity sensitivity) The bit crush technique sounded really great at the very end when you were arpeggiating it! Very unique! I think the only thing you may have not shown was I believe at the beginning you said something about using the step sequencer to to something but maybe you missed one point you were going to show.

    • @JorbLovesGear
      @JorbLovesGear  3 роки тому

      Sounds great.
      I definitely meant to demo the portamento, fixed portamento is a favorite trick of mine.
      And yes there's a few continuity errors, I redid the back half after my phone ran out of storage.
      Cheers!

    Excellent tips, it was a great tour through lot of ideas! Definitely to my bag of Deepmind tricks, but of course a lot of what you showed could be applied to any poly synth with a mod matrix. About the feedback on form, really liked it BUT maybe some sort of index can be helpful to check the info multiple times or skip things you just know (you don't have to be like Loopop, but his index is really helpful in long videos). Anyway, thank you for your videos!

    • @JorbLovesGear
      @JorbLovesGear  3 роки тому +2

      Loopop is someone who's work I really look up to. I've dabbled in doing hard cut structured stuff like he does, but find I work best & share my best tips when I'm just working off the top of my head.
      I should watch it back and mark some divisions! At least where I change topics.
      Cheers

    Great video Jorb. I love this synth! SUBBED!! P.s. what does the Keyboard slider do? Does that make the notes sharper in tone the higher up the key bed you play? Many thanks

    • @JorbLovesGear
      @JorbLovesGear  Рік тому +1

      Run into less trouble describing it as "brighter" but you've got it, opens up the filter cutoff more as you play higher notes

I'd love to see a vid of yours on adaptive/generative stuff if you make one, oh and also I am intrigued by what the MOD envelope is all about, with tricks/tips on how best to employ it. Just some thoughts for you if you were after any ideas for next vids. Ta for replying Jorb, greetings from S.Wales UK.

    Great video. What is your opinion on DM12 for drums and percussive sounds and effect?

    • @JorbLovesGear
      @JorbLovesGear  2 роки тому

      Can handle it well! The strong mod matrix lets you do creative stuff with velocity and note number, etc. And the effects let you do delay tricks for claps, or use the amp sims for some grit, etc.
