If you are going to use a 3 bolt throttle body got to Amazon and get the plate from ICT it's only 24 bucks and very good quality.
That truck the manifold came off of had hydro boost brakes that's why there was a plug in the rear....as apposed to the fitting that was on your gen 3 intake
I was 17 when I subbed, I always loved 99-06 Silverado and now own one. And done some upgrades myself, always love watching your vids! Keep it up!
Now I’m 22 :)
Good to see a local youtuber I live in roanoke Virginia keep videos coming nice truck
This is why I like your channel. Thanks
Hell yeah! Been missing your vids man! I was just doing research on these and was gonna get one for my truck. Perfect timing video!
Running a intake off of a 2014 Silverado with a 92 mm tb on my 2002 yukon xl👍🏼 got a tune and she outruns tuned 6.0s now
I'll put my tuned 364 up against your 02 Yukon. Lol.
DMC Bigfoot let’s run🤷🏽♂️
@@cameronrayford9980 hehehehe. Well lets her er done. This will tell me if my tune is good for o my cam or if I need to do some more and if my stall converter is just right or if I need to step up to the 3500 to 3800
DMC Bigfoot got a lq9 taken apart atm puttin in the cam and stuff this week 3000 stall so we shall see how that goes
@@cameronrayford9980 lq4 in my 2500 4x4 pick-up bored.30 over flat top pistons. 706 heads that have been fully worked. And milled.020. Custom cam. Iam not tell the spec's. Just know it came from bullet camshaft's. 2800 to 3200 stall in the 4l80e with 4.10 gears
That evap purge though... 😂😂😂
Where is it suppose to go
Humor me... If this is the only engine change I make, am I going to see and mpg or power gain? Mostly looking at mpg but the lm7 is kinda slow 😅
Most reputable guys say the manifold swap on a stock motor, you won’t see any gains. But a tune and headers/exhaust will gain you huge
Definitely need update on the throttle body & harness adapter. Also from what I've readn, would like an opinion from x-link as to whether there is a preference for gold or silver! Great video & keep it up
disconnect the battery first. I also build a water dam with silicone to keep the knocks dry.
You’re one of those guys who disconnects his battery before you change the oil aren’t you?
You don’t need to build a dam, there should be foam pieces on the bottom of the manifold that keep debris out
if the knock sensors arent giving you a problem dont change them, my 04 has 240,xxx never changed them. Dont fix whats not broken
thats bad advice m8 i make a living off folks like you
@@braxton7198 damn right If you pull the intake off you might as well change those knock sensors if it's never been done
From the manufacturer of the X-Link "The X-Link is not designed for aftermarket throttle bodies with magnetic sensors or with sensors not calibrated to GM specifications."
At 7:55 you said “Now that we have brakes, we can drive it”!
Yes, that is a good thing to say out loud or check off the pre-test check list! Yeh.
The shop I worked in, had a drive thru with service bays on one side. The service manager parked this 5 ton Chrysler Newport quickly and stuck the ticket under the wiper, then hurried back up front. A Red-headed kid finish this 4X4 truck and needed to test drive before parking & handing in the ticket. He jumped in the car, started it up, touched the gas pedal to get it going..... Well? It was a cable operated carb, the ticket said bad motor mount! V
The engine lifted up, pulled the gas pedal cable tight, went WOT and shot the length of the shop and went thru the door. I think he had to change his shorts. Just saying wear seatbelts and watch to road folks, not your phone! Please!
ASE Master Tech since 1978? - Retired
Put knock sensors in the front of the head much easier never had one problem with them there s tee right in
Nice truck man
I’m assuming the tbss engine cover will fit with that manifold?
Yea it does
I swapped my 5.3 with a tbss intake and when it turned it on there was a loud pop coming from engine and then it turns off
Where’d u get it from?
@@seanandersen338 lmao turned out something fell into the head ports lol
MeadQuick yikes
@@seanandersen338 lmao thats what happens when you try to be your own mechanic 😂
MeadQuick only way to learn
How’s your X-link adapter I get p1516 reduced engine sometimes. Happens more raining or little snow on ground. Changed back to stock to and still had it happen. Thinking of buying new 90mm. Truck runs better with big throttle body. I’ve rewired throttle body also.
Did you find out what was causing your problem
I’m having the same issue with stock TB 03 Sierra
I bought ls3 throttle body off Amazon it worked great for couple months then started doing it again. I sold the truck last Friday
@@tackleberry933 bruh this shit got me depressed 😂 going through the same problem. Reduced engine power
Aren't you loosing low end torque? the larger throttle body would decrease low end vacuum...?
Not sure if you’ll see this but what size injectors were those and did u order them directly from fast or where ?
Everything bolt right on without problem?
Did u just add the stock injectors to the new fuel rails?
Is it really a stage 3 cam??
Did you have to use the pig tails for the injectors ? I got my intake manifold from a 2008 tbss and not sure if that’s what I will need
Did you figure out the TB issue? You choked the motor back down by putting the stock TB back on.
What kind of gains have you had with the intake upgrade?
Wow the audio is harsh in this video but I'm glad you made it
What was wrong with the audio?
The bugs are super loud...
Lol always something simple.
You ever fix the problem with the oil pressure
If your talking about the low oil pressure problem. I have fixed mine
What about impala as throttle body I think its 8 pin plug
Who did your Efans looking into doing some
Hydroboost swap in the works?
Next video you should remove all your badges and the cab badges etc..look more cleaner
My truck doesn’t have a single badge on it? Where did you see a badge?
bowtieguy97 the long Cab badges. On your doors and back etc.
What do you do about the pcv line on the passenger side?
Wonder if the mpg went down or stayed the same?
i read this intake does not have the hose barb for your PCV fresh air side, so you will need to plumb your PCV fresh air side into your air intake somewhere before the throttle body. is that true if so how did you do it
Austin, how did you handle the passenger side PCV issue and did you have to adapt a return style fuel filter?
You're like the Bilbo Baggins of the Walmart parking lot curb climbers.
Nah I don’t even climb curbs with this truck anymore 😉 parking lot cruising only
Do yu know what the low oil pressure was?
What year is the gauge cluster i like that one
Did you use stock injectors?
I’m guessing your truck has around 330hp?
What was the total cost of this up grade??
How many hp we can gain with the tbss intake ??
Hey bowtie on my 2011 lc9 5.3 for throttle body wpuld u recommend the gm stock 90mm? Or aftermarket one from soler or send my stock or a 90mm to soler to have them modify?
what year throttle body am i looking for ?
What headers are you running. I have an 05 Crew Cab Z71 5.3 I wanna start workig on. 1st things I am doing are K&N Cold Air Intake. And new exaust. Replace stock manifold with headers. But not sure if I need to use long tube or shorty headers. From there I'll run thru an X-Pipe straight back to duals out back. Not sure If I should use 1-2 muflers withthat setup.
Shorty headers(1-3/4) are the same as original in this trucks 99-2022
You can check Speed Engineering on eBay, I have purchased from them a lot of headers for my friends and they never disappoint.
Does the stock 5.3 intake gasket work on the tbss? Did u do the Corvette FPR?
What intake gaskets you used?
Is a tune required?
How many miles on the truck now?
Where did u get the harness from and do u have the part number or a link?
What headlights are those? Link/source please if possible
The little wire you need to run that throttle body is almost 300 dollars. Makes this whole thing not worth it lmao
Does this intake fit an 02 Silverado 2500 Hd?
Yes but it isn’t a plug and play
It requires modifications, adapters etc
I would recommend doing this if you change the stock camshaft otherwise it is not worth it
What size is the throttle body a added?
What are you suppose to to with the fuel return line? And what about the vaccum hose thats behind the throttle body that connects to the valve cover?
04+ has no return line, eliminated the valve cover hose
Aah ok mine is a 2003 what did you do to delete the vaccum hose then?
Up The Creek I have one too check my page but I ordered the diablo i3 tuner since my truck has an issue when I’m at a light or stopped in drive my rpm goes from 500 rpm to 550 to 460ish rpm and when it goes down it makes the engine hesitate. What would be a safe rpm to set my tuner at idle? 600 rpm or a little higher? Thanks will receive the tuner Tuesday
Roo817 thats crazy low u should try 750-800 rpm idle
Install?
What injectors did you use in this video. ?
Didnt you have the adapter place for the 3 to 4 bolt TB? You ever sell it?
Antony Newman watch the video he had to use it
What MAP did you use, old or new?
Hey can u use 5.3 fuel rails?
Did it run fine without a tune?
I’d say if you wanna get the most out of it, get some headers and then a tune 👍🏽
How much for this set up
nothing special about those fuel rails, they're stock for that intake. you can re use the silverado ones, but you need to weld bungs to the stock rails and run an AN line from side to side. if you go with the 3 bolt TB.. whats the purpose?? LOL
Hello I got the tbss with a 90mm throttle body but I need the wire conector where do I get it ? Please help
X-link
I bough my intake with out rails were could I buy just the rails
Glenn's Auto Performance sales just the rails as well
Where can i get the tb adapter plate
So wich bong did you use for you tbss intake?
I have 2001 silverado 1500 stepside. When I coldstart it,it kind off struggles to start.but then sounds normal.any thoughts
sounds like bad intake gaskets does it clear up when warm?
@@jessefarley4609 yes it sound back to normal
the engine is a LH6?
It’s an LM7
Do you not have an intake gasket?
I do?
Are the rubber grommet bolts able to be used on the tbss manifold?
Yes, if you take the rubber off, there the exact same as used on the tbss
are them 862 heads and is the block 4.8/5.3
PRC Stage 2.5 heads but yes they are 862 castings, 5.3.
I have a lm7
so this intake fits cathedral port heads?
Yes
Did you notice any significant difference on the amount torque or overall horsepower? I have similar build (different aftermarket heads & cam size) and was curious on if swapping for a tbss is even worth it considering the engine is a NA SBE 5.3
I wouldnt, the gains are so minimal for the money. You wont see any difference without a tune and even with a tune its maybe 5 hp. The stock intake is great for low end torque but if you rev it out then go with an intake from a corvette. It will net more top end power
Ethan Vaughan it’s been reported 20 plus hp and with this intake you keep you low end torque aswell
Everything I have seen and read shows anything between 8-20HP increase with the intake. Mostly depends on your cam and head set up. I definitely think it’s worth it.
hot rod network tested 20 intakes and the stock truck intake ran 13 hp and 16 f-lbs of tourqe less than the tbss/nnbs/L92 intake, im doing the swap now on a 2001 gmc C3! Great video man keep up the awesome work!..!
@@btgperformance9234 I think the intake swap is definitely worth it... it's the throttle body and X-Link that turn me away from it... glad to see you are seeing results from just the intake alone... I would love to see dyno results tbss w/stock throttle body vs tbss w/ X-Link and 90mm throttle body...
will this work with a 2009 nnbs with the 5.3
You already have this intake
Where can I get a tbss intake manifold?
Did you not look at the description? I guess u didnt watch the video either, he said it about 10 times bro where to get the intake.
Actually 2010 and up Silverado use same manifold. I got a complete one for 90.00 from a local auto recycler..
Hahahha I’ll take that intake
How much horsepower do you gain from a bigger manifold?
Not that much.....maybe 10hp tops
BTG performance u dont answer any of the comments , im hit that unlike button / unsubscribe from youtube / instagram
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out 😂
so how did you hook the fuel lines up on the tbss intake?
I know for sure that 99-03 have a fuel regulator on the fuel rails but then GM changed things and then after 04 or 05 there’s no return line and no pressure regulator on the fuel line
Will this fit a vortec 4.8?
