Did this swap on my 05 a while back but went with the 4 bolt tb and X-link adapter. Dont forget to mention that 99-02 trucks will require pressure regulator and throttle cable as well. Its pretty much plug and play on dbw trucks though. For pcv I just drilled a hole on my intake tube and threaded a barb fitting to connect the valve cover there, some people just put a breather cap or a filter on that line.
Yup I mentioned the regulator, not the cable thank you. What injectors did you go with?
@@AnthonyJ350 I went with oem flex fuel injectors, 12613411. Had to use mini delphi to ev6/uscar adapters.
What size throttle cable?
GREAT VIDEO! TY for making it and listing the parts thru out!
Thanks for watching! I have a more updated video and parts list and discussing any challenges ua-cam.com/video/YJYTMhY8wTs/v-deo.html
video was super helpful man thanks
Glad it helped!
Well explain!!
Glad you like it!
My 06 Yukon is already dyno tuned. I guess I could get an 07 SS manifold and use my old injectors? Probably I'd need to retune my truck. I remember reading some time ago that the stock throttle body is not restrictive until you get up into high horsepower numbers.
That's good to know about the TB.
I have dorman copy intake I’m removing and replacing with tbss . Factory gaskets easy to find Dorman not so much
Let us know how it drives after
Hello, excuse me, k spacer recommends me I have a 2009 intake manifold but I have my throttle body is 2004 because my truck is 2004 1500 5.3 L. LT but I want to install a 2009 intake manifold but I ordered a spacers and I don't know which is the right friend I would really appreciate it
You just follow the parts list I have in the description.
With 99-02 you use the corvette fuel filter do you get rid of stock fuel filter ?
You'll want to check out this channel, he has your setup ua-cam.com/users/alexe4321
Can I used my stock 02 Tahoe injectors with this manifold and fuel rails or have to upgrade to gen 4 injectors
I used my stock injectors, but used the newer fuel rail.
Hi do you know if this manifold will fit under stock muscle car hoods?
Thanks Scott
Maybe if you have a cowl induction hood. The truck intake manifolds are quite a bit taller than the car versions.
What can I expect after adding this to my stock tahoe?
Should get a lot better midrange power. We did this and and cam install at the same time so it's hard for me to say the exact effects.
I like the throttle spacer mod you mentioned. It makes sense for preventative maintenance. Not sure if you said the reason for this swap. I'll have to watch this again. Will this help with performance being that you're still running factory parameters with a choke point? Cool build though AJ 😁
It will still be a performance upgrade because my current manifold starves 4 cylinders of equal air. The ported heads and cam will also flow more air. That's why I want to keep the stock throttle body at the beginning at least.
Ah I see. Basically a plenum mod without the big bore TB lol maybe do a before n after sound clip. Thanks for clarifying
Do they sell that top piece that’s on top of intake manifold man for the dirty side. My tbss intake didn’t come with one. Is there a part # for the whole line? My truck is a 05 Silverado. Any help is appreciated
Are you referring to the fuel rail?
@@AnthonyJ350 i got it figured out man! Thanks anyways. You know the part # for them injector retainer clips man?
is ur truck 2006 suburban? that intake manifold looks like 2007 - 2014. i am driving 2010 suburban.
I drive a 2005 Silverado. You probably already have this intake manifold
Can you give me a part number for the injectors? I am planning on putting this on my 4.8 but i didnt see a link to that your description. Thanks!
We ended up using the factory 4.8L injectors. Hit 98% duty cycle with a cam. So they're just enough to keep up with a 4.8L.
Where did you get the adapter and what is the part number
I have a parts list in the description of this video and more details ua-cam.com/video/YJYTMhY8wTs/v-deo.html
can you use the throttle body off the nnbs or tbss
You can but you need a harness adaptor.
Is the 2011 GMC Sierra 5.3 intake manifold is the same intake manifold as a Trailblazer SS manifold
The outside looks the same for sure. Not sure if the runners inside are the exact same though. You would have to compare part numbers. Which you can do on rockauto.com
No.
Gen 4 LS Truck Intake is the same whether Trailblazer or Silverado, it will bolt straight onto the gen 3 ls even but for me its noth worth swapping.
Thanks for sharing!
I’m putting tbss intake on my stock 4.8 motor but my fuel injectors are too short . What injectors are you using ?
Stock injectors
2010+ stock injectors are 50lb Ik going to order mine from lsx plus you have to buy the adapter for them that’s $44 aswell.
Oh God. I did this on my 04 2500hd lol. I thought it would just plug and play lol. Wow I was wrong lol. I dont have drive by wire so I needed an X link lol. And new injectors. I used the 8.1 injectors actually.
How did it drive after?
I have drive my wire but still needed the x-link for the throttle body!
Drive by wire is the electronic TB. The throttle body is driven by an electrical wire. So you would need the X-Link.
The other style throttle body is Cable Driven. So no X-Link needed.
My understanding is in 03 all the trucks and SUVs that are V8s, at least, are drive by wire.
@@AnthonyJ350 I did a btr stage3 v2 cam with the springs. Tbss intake and throttlebody 3200 3400 circle d converter. Gained like 80 to 100hp. And the converter was the magic behind it all
@@adamchiaramonte7883 Did it lose any power down low at 2,500-3,000 rpm?
I bought the dorman I was disappointed, it’s a 2 piece so you have to take precautions and the bolting hardware was a joke
Thanks for sharing your experience. I guess the TBSS intake from GM is the way to go. I've had zero issues with mine.
Can I throw this intake on my 2008 nnbs?
You can but it might be identical. I'd verify the TBSS is that much different internally.
These manifolds have become so costly to swap is it really worth the 20hp gain? When you add all the additional parts needed you are over$1000.00 in parts to gain 20hp. Is 20 hp worth it?
Did you try looking for one used?
Yes.
@@TheChrismsanchez1 All depends if the extra power and having a better powerband is worth it to you I suppose.
@Chance Guy as you know, that is a steal! The manifolds alone are pushing $300 - $350. Congratulations on that find.
@Chance Guy a few!? TBSS? Wow, you scored!
Is this rail for a flex fuel vehicle? I have a non flex fuel and am trying to buy as few parts as possible.
It's the new style rail but we put my original injectors in it. I don't know if the original rail will fit on this intake manifold.
@@AnthonyJ350 I have a 2000 so I know I have to switch rails I was just wondering if I needed any flex fuel components? Or, if they made two different rails for this intake one that was flex fuel and one that was regular? Is your vehicle flex fuel?
@@ZBrink11 My truck isn't flex fuel. Your truck will need a regulator as well for the conversion.
@@AnthonyJ350 Awesome! Thank you so much for both the videos and for replying to me on here. Much appreciated!
@@ZBrink11 You're welcome 🙂
Umm where upload part 2 of the tbss/nnbs ?
The truck is still in the shop getting the cam installed and all the valve train is being updated. I hope to have a video for you guys in the next 2 weeks.
Here's Part 2 ua-cam.com/video/YJYTMhY8wTs/v-deo.html
My truck is the L59 flex fuel version of the 5.3L can i use my stock L59 injectors with the tbss intake manifold?
You might want to look it up. Your manifold might be the same already
@@AnthonyJ350 it's an 04 tahoe
@@seangowan7441 Ahhh ok, ya you should be able to. I had the stock injectors put in the new fuel rail and works fine
@@AnthonyJ350 i can just use stock l59 injectors, corvette fuel filter and a throttle body adapter or ls2/ls3/ls7 throttle body and adapter harness and i should be good.
Is a tune required?
Can I run 58lb injectors with the stock fuel rails or do I need after market rails
With my cam in the 4.8L I ran to 98% duty cycle. If I had a 5.3L or 6.0L I would run 8.1L injectors.
@@AnthonyJ350 I have a cammed 4.8 and got the TBSS intake and the rails but my stock intake is a return less system. So I should be able to run the stock fuel rails
@@elimoore4782 Not sure if the middle pipe clears.
@@AnthonyJ350 the middle pipe does not clear - I need to get the TBSS rails for sure. so I can run 58lb injectors with the TBSS rails
@@AnthonyJ350 will 58lb injectors fit ?
Will this fit on 2001 GMC Sierra? 5.3
It will but you need a couple more parts
@@AnthonyJ350 could you tell me what parts exactly?

@@AnthonyJ350 does this one add power too?
@@edwarde2068 Suppose to because the name is updated. People told me the original TBSS is better constructed.
The TBSS is a performance unit that allows better torque curve and higher power. Bigger throttle body allows more power potential. The doorman is a copy of this unit.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I read the Dorman unit was a copy of the FAST intake design.
Some good info, but alot of chasein your own tail. You gain nothing from intake if you #choke it. If you need a tune for the large injectors, you might as well wait to install intake until you can afford Corresponding throttle body, if you're set on doing it like you planed, should have kept stock injectors that go with throttle body. You can see the hp gains you speak of, but only if Corresponding with the other mod you said you've made. I'm not trying to pick on you, just help the guy that was once like me, trying to learn from random u-tube hours on end. For that guy, Richard holdner ☆ facts/proof/ Other than that, good job👍
We did use the stock injectors. Hit about 98% duty cycle when the truck was taken to 7,000rpm on the dyno.
Still daily drive the truck. ua-cam.com/video/K439MkjyGK8/v-deo.htmlsi=tCRHVAmDF_P0OKWF
Raced my buddy's 2015 with a 5.3L and they were dead even. We did 4 pulls and neither truck would pull on the other. Which is respectable for a 4.8L with a 4L60-E that's modded.
The dorman was dyno proven to be crap by Richard Holdener. It did worse than the old truck intake manifold. Stay away. Just get the TBSS manifold.
Thanks for sharing!

@@n8vjefe Nice! What do you think the truck will put down? Low 400's at the wheels?
@@AnthonyJ350 I was making calculations but they were theoretical based on testing dyno results from engine masters or other tv shows, but estimated between 430-480whp if I don't use a fuel pump booster or upgrade the 36lb injectors. I am not really sure what to expect though but I do know for sure torque output will be amazingly high for towing.
