The outback is a great all around kayak. It can handle 15 foot swell in 15 knot wind as I have done multiple times out of sonoma coast. The PA is just too heavy and it doesn’t handle rough water well due to lack of rudder control.
Nope, one of the benefits to using kayaks instead of boats. We of course highly advise you to study up on Kayak/ocean safety regardless, but there's no course required. The only places yo need to register a kayak is places like Koko Marine if you intend to use it inside the marina.
Off the Yak sorry, one more question. Couldn’t find the answer in the states website. Do I need to register if I have a RC water jet attached to my paddle? It’s a dual 40MM waterjet used on RC boats built into my paddle so I can use it as a rudder and paddle with it. It’s controlled with a trigger throttle on the paddle handle. The batteries are hidden in the handle/shaft as well. It’s very inconspicuous looking from afar.
Hey Frank! We had just used it, and then washed it out. You'll always get at least a very small amount of water in the hull and I always always always rinse it out to get the salt out of there.
Hi Andy thanks for watching! This is actually a 2018 as it has the rubber nets as well as the reflectors on the seats and rudder, I just didn't get the 2018 drives from the person who lent it to me for the day.
Off the Yak ok yea i loomed at the drive thats y i said 2017. i uave the 2017 model with 2018 drive and the 2017 also has the rubber net just doesnt have reflector tape on the chair

Do you need to put the "block" in when you are using kayak withOUT the mirage system ?
Hey TD! You do not need to put the block in when using it as a standard Kayak, however it does help reduce splashing up thru the hole.
the drive costs at least $825
its a 2017 model
