I just got a package deal on this exact year and model and a 2017 outback with lots of extras including a sail for a good price. Watching your video got me refresher on how to operate everything again. Thank you, can't wait to get it wet!
Excellent video. I have a 2016 Oasis. Doesn’t have the reverse drive. I just take the one drive out and put it in backwards. Not the best but it works. Taking mine out eventually to do the Lake Tahoe Water Trail circumnavigating all 72 miles. Trolling for big lake trout in the process. Thanks again
Awesome Mark! You won't be disappointed, have fun and stay safe out there! We just got some additional attachments put on ours, check back soon for a video on our recent additions.
you probably dont give a shit but if you're bored like me atm you can stream pretty much all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my gf during the lockdown xD
Thanks for the awesome video I'm buying a second hand one hobie mirage tandem double kayak 2017 just a quick question will the mirage drive 180 fit in the the one I'm buying as the kayak I'm buying doesn't have reverse only forward.
Question: When you need to reverse the motors. Do you coordinate the reversal with your partner? Or do tell them to just stop paddling while you power in reverse? Otherwise one motor is pushing you backwards, and the other forwards. In other words, if the other motor is in forward position, but not being used, does it have any impact on the mobility or turning?
Thanks for the video. Any thoughts on the Oasis vs the Outfitter? I am close to buying a tandem kayak for fishing on Maui. The Outfitter seems more stable and easier to transport but I heard it has a harder time in the ocean. Have you tried an outfitter? I would be going with my wife and sometimes solo. Not sure how they compare when going solo. Also kinda lame that neither is Lowrance ready Thanks
Thanks for watching! We don't have any first hand experience with the outfitter. But I've heard that it's not as good for ocean kayaking due to sitting lower in the water and being more likely to take on water in choppy conditions, as well as lacking the storage space in the front. But I can't say first hand of course, I'd definitely recommend you see if your local Hobie dealer has a demo of both to try out!
great video. I have the 2015 mirage oasis wished the reverse was made back then. What rod holder fits the sail attachment? I would love to do the same on mines.
There's an attachment that you insert into the sail mount that has a 1.5" ball on the end, and then you can attach the RAM 2008 tube rod holder onto that. We actually would up taking it out after a little use as we found it got in the way of the pedals for the person in the back, but that might depend on your leg length. We're both 6' so those foot pedals are usually pretty far forward for us.
Did you hear what he said? With his feet in it doesn’t work well. He has to remove his feet engage the reverse then put his feet back in. Why not just pick up your drive in your 15 Oasis and reverse it. A company that rents Hobies said he is not a fan of the new reverse pulls. Another thing to go bad. Competition in other yaks forced them into putting one on the Hobies.
I think its time for the hobie oasis to redesign their hull. I think the foot wells are unnecessary and takes up useable space. I like the compass duo layout but its not as fast and comfortable.
Thanks for the thorough review - extremely helpful.
I've got one too - awesome kayak! Great for camping trips as well. 👍🏼

@Timothy Wyatt definitely, I have been using InstaFlixxer for since november myself =)
There’s some real effort and skill gone into designing these rigs.

Good job! I am buying one for the cottage!
Very good vid. Tks a lot
You take em solo? I’m on big island and plan to get a hobie soon. Was wondering if you put your fish bag and ice up front and used the back seat.

Planning to add the Hobie Ama Kit to my oasis. Would you install it behind the rear seat?
GREAT JOB GUYS :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the video.

Eeeepic mate thanks
You should do a rod and reel arsenal vid
Thanks for the comment Michael! We'll be sure to do one at some point, right now we're catching up on previous content we've filmed but stay tuned!
What booties do you recommend for peddling?

Great review🤙
Can you tell us what buckets you use and size, mahalo🤙
And possibly where did you buy the buckets? I live on Oahu also.
How’s the stability in the oasis?
Oasis owner here, stability is not the best. Don’t recommend going jntk choppy water without stabilizers
