    When are you planning on the "in depth" video on breaking down the drive for maintenance? I'm looking forward to seeing it.

    I had no idea that you had to replace a part about every six times you use your kick up fins! I fish six days a week 5 to 6 hours a day I couldn’t even imagine having to maintain something like that! I love the old tried-and-true Drive for sure! I’m so glad I watched this video. Thank you for these instructions, and basically for the heads up for me not to invest in one of these.!

    Super useful thanks. A nut backed off my chain 2 miles out into a wind. No bueno

    Awesome video Brock. I also think setting your chains too tight puts a lot of pressure on your bearings and can cause that annoying squeaking noise. Too lose can also cause stripped sprockets. Just need to figure out that sweet spot.
    Great stuff man, keep it up. 😎🤙

    Just got my first PA14 (used 2018) for offshore here in So Cal, and noticed a squeak on my first trip out , after watching this vid I checked my cables and sure enough they were too tight so I loosened em a little and the squeek is GONE !!! Thanks bro !!!

    Thank you for the video. Can you do one on the 360 drive?

    Great video! I can see that you keep your kayaks upright on two bars with foam padding. I noticed that Hobie suggested storing the kayaks upside down on rails or cross supports and not upright as it can dent the hull. Do you have any input on this? I have a Revo 13.

    my new 23 gt drive came super tight and squeaking from the factory? I loosened some chains and greased with hobie needle nose lube applicator, much easier to pedal and quieter too

    Have you got any advice for repairing the cord that link the forward and reverse handles to the fins? My reverse rope broke inside the spine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    do the fins engage back automatically when you paddle?

    I like the tip about the shower but as for the WD40 it sounds to me much more likely that they were not ensuring those nuts had proper tightness before hitting the water. I've never had issues with using WD40. I'm not sure why Hobie doesn't use a second nut on the cable and tighten them against each other so it cannot back off on the water, but I highly doubt the WD40 caused it. And if it did they are using way too much lol.

    In the video some of the cables look like you could almost pop them off. Is that too loose or just right? I had some I could pop off so I tightened them. They have some wiggle still but can’t come off. There’s also squeaking now 😂

    I tried to loosen the nuts and the cable turns with the nut this a 2022 180 drive maiden voyage

      I recently noticed that when we worked on a 2022 drive... Try using a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the cable while you loosen the nut

    I just replaced.my idler cable in my drive and now it's doing a very loud creak noise.i tried loosening and tightening the cable and nothing has worked. When I wet the drive down with water it makes the noise go away for awhile then it comes back after 10 mins.

      if your drive is a gt, the idler pulley also has bearings, get the hobie lube with needle applicator and leave a couple drops on either end of idler puller

    Hey Mate, just wondering about how you have stored the lynx behind you.
    How do you find they have fared storing like that?
    I’m thinking of selling my pa for a lynx because of storage and ease of use.
    Cheers

      @lacustomkayaks  Рік тому

      We stored it there temporarily, but for long term use, I would recommend adding some flat support that covers the length of the boat

    Is it by design that the drive requires so much maintenance?

    • @lacustomkayaks
      @lacustomkayaks  Рік тому

      Every drive requires some maintenance. You don't have to do this stuff after every trip, but it is good to stay on top of it to prevent issues down the road.

    You're naming a lot of parts without pointing out what you're talking about.
    You did show the cable on the drum but you didn't say that's what it was.
    You talked about the sprocket and teeth but didn't point it out.
    You talked about the idler cable but didn't point it out and it's on the opposite side of you so a novice would have no clue what you meant.
    You talk with your hands a lot but don't point anything out.
    You showed a sacrificial part but didn't show where it goes or say what it does.
    I'm not even half way through the video yet!
