HOW TO MAKE BANH XEO | VIETNAMESE SIZZLING CREPES
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лип 2024
- Bánh Xèo is a savory crepe made of a coconut and turmeric batter, traditionally filled with savory pork, shrimp, and beansprouts. It's served with fragrant herbs, crisp veggies, and sweet fish sauce called Nước Chấm. Each bite fills your mouth with an incredible combination of aromatics, textures, flavors, surely to bring you back for more bites. Bánh loosely refers to cake (or things made of starches and flours) and Xèo refers to the sizzling noise that the batter makes when hitting the hot pan.
I used to eat this dish quite a bit with Vietnamese and Cambodian families. While this is a Vietnamese dish, Cambodians have adapted a yummy version of this as well, that's very similar. My recipe is my adaptation, a fusion of both styles, while staying very close to the authentic dish.

I love Thai food as much as Vietnamese food. Thanks 😊
Your videos are so beautiful and relaxing and confidence-inspiring. Southeast Asian food is my favorite. I haven't been cooking much lately, but this I must make! I sometimes consider spending a couple years in Vietnam with awesome street food within walking distance. Now that is a worthy bucket list item.
Thank you for the kind words. Southeast Asian food is also my favorite. Sometimes the food requires a bit of prep work but the flavors pay off. To live in Vietnam where street food is a just a few steps outside would be such a dream. I love that and thank you for sharing 🙏🏼 I post new food/gardening videos every Saturday morning 😁
That’s the thinnest pancake I’ve seen. I’ll probably need to eat more than one to be full. Wrap in rice paper to have it more filling if I’m hungry or serving a large family. Gonna try one with beer, one with carbonated coconut water and seltzer. See which flavor will win to mark this for a family dinner. Thanks for the recipe. I may be converted to thinner batters!
Drooling - the crispier the better. I love breaking it up & making it into a "salad" with a ton of lettuce & herbs. The more homemade fish sauce, the better. YUMMY!
Oh wow! I love the look of these crepes, definitely a keeper 👏
It's very refreshing to eat because of all of the herbs. Thank you Dorothy!
Sa wad dee ka P'Thun~ 😊🙏 The pancakes look like a thin omelet! 😍
This dish looks very delicious and refreshing with all the fresh herbs, salad, and sauce. Now I'm hungry~~ 🤤
PS. I've never know soda water or beer can help with the crispiness, thank you for the tip ka!
No problem! Yes it does look like an omelet because of the color. Some people do add eggs to the batter but it's not necessary. Thank you N'Nin 🙏🏼☺️ Have a great weekend as well na krub!
Thank you! Yummy 😋
One of the first Vietnamese dishes I ever had! Thanks for the upload - awesome as always!

What a beautiful dish that looks delicious! I never would have known about this dish. Thank you for the amazing videos Thun Thun. I'm still drooling over the sesame balls recipe!🤤😍 I'm on a partial liquid diet right now because I'm having a root canal procedure soon🙁 ugh. When I recover I'm gonna live it up on solid food and cooking. Your recipes give me ideas for my "solid food comeback."
Oh Hannah, I hope your procedure goes smoothly and wishing you a speedy recovery so you can have all of the delicious meals you're craving. I've been on liquid diets and it can be tough. There are some creative recipes out there though. Thank you so much for watching 😊 Feel better and take care 🙏🏼
I wish I had access to green mangoes 🥭. This looks so delicious
Thank you so much! Green mango is hard to find where I am too. But sometimes I get lucky :)
Thank you for providing vegetarian and kosher alternatives!
great video
When I visited my sole grandaughter in Houston , my DIL bought me a pleasant really welcomed surprise - GREEN , CRUNCHY FRESH MANGOES.
Yummy!!! I'm making this tomorrow for Thanksgiving plus additional dishes aside from the typical turkey & sides. 😁👍
Looks delicious!! Do Banh Xeo stays crispy for a long time?
I’m not gonna add sugar to my filling but I will be making this dish vegan. This looks amazing
Interesting 🌿🌿
Hope you don’t mind if I would like to share this recipe with you 🌿🌿
Thanks for all sharing 🌿
So aesthetic
❤️🙏
I have a problem with my batter is always too doughy. How can I fix that
Question, the shredder aka peeler, where can i get one like that 🧚🏽♀️
It's called Kiwi Pro Slice Peeler. Your local Asian grocery store might carry it for very cheap. They are also sold online on Amazon, but are bit more expensive.
omg i never thought to wrap it in rice paper, my lettuce wraps are always falling apart 😂
It a fun way to eat them and makes for a cleaner bite too :D
What is MSG?
You are good cooking Thun 👍👏. Thank you 👍👏🙏
I have problems making the batter
One mistake you made you don’t show many cup flour are water
It stated 2 C flour and 1 C water
