another thing worth mentioning is that in the "jedi academy" game you are a trainee in luke's jedi order and you are being taught that there are no good or evil force powers. the force is the force and how you use it determines it's orientation, allowing you to use force lightning, and other stuff previously exclusive to dark side users.

And this folks is why the sequels are so tragic. Due to those movies, we only see Luke (post Endor) as a broken and defeated man. That’s why the end of Season 2 of the Mandalorian was so therapeutic, as it was the only (on screen) time that we got a glimpse of the powerful Jedi that was Luke Skywalker.
Let’s face it, Luke (as we know him in books/cartoons/etc) would’ve never screwed up regarding Ben Solo or would’ve failed his students or went into hiding while the galaxy burned around him. I really want the sequels to be retconned, just make them go away already ❌

Everyone fails sometimes and has shortcomings at times. It's not like he actually tried to kill Ben, he simply considered it for a moment and stopped himself. Things like that can happen, especially considering Luke already was a flawed character with his own pull to the dark side. The sequels will never be retconned and shouldn't be. A whole new generation of fans grew up with them. Just like how I'm sure you mad about the EU becoming Legends (which was not meant to actually be canon to begin with) and it influenced you and your love for Star Wars, the sequels have done that for other fans. It would be ridiculously cruel to do that and it doesn't make much business sense as despite their flaws, they were still successful at the box office.

@@ignisinfernal1843 you really have a limited understanding of the main plot that goes through every Star Wars creation from George himself.
The arc of “the Chosen One” is intrinsically important to “balance the forces of light and dark” in the galaxy.
Gone are the days of a painfully hemmed in Jedi Council that forced their disciples to live an emotionally starved life completely antiquated belief system and rigid black or white thinking processes.
Beyond that, the Chosen One also smashed the current Sith leadership by (well, we at least thought so for 4 decades) killing the master and allowing the glimmer of light that was in the apprentice to dissolve the dark.
In the current sequel premise, NOTHING of this main story plot matters, we are back at square one and the Chosen One was really effing useless or downright dismissible.
It’s truly tiresome to hear the current generation of new Star Wars fans clap to mediocrity, gaping plot holes, BS fan service lacking any depth or reason while never really grasping the overarching theme.

It’s my opinion that Windu survived studying form 7, because he invented his own variation of 7 (which he did in legend). It is also my opinion, that his ‘own’ variation of form 7 is what helped him defeat Sidious. Sidious was quite shocked when Windu defeated him. I’m sure he was quite aware that Windu was using 7 against him when he was doing the same. The advantage, in my opinion, was Windu’s variation was unknown to Sidious.

Yeah I never understood all the hype about the "Chosen One" bringing balance to the Force. For the Jedi Council, they thought the chosen one would destroy the Sith once and for all. If that happened there would be no Dark, only Light....and that does not bring balance. Using Dark side abilities does not make one evil, it is their intentions and personal beliefs that make an act evil. Like my Yin and Yang symbol, the Light cannot exist without the Dark, just as the Dark can not exist without the Light. Also there is a little bit of each in the other. Luke was exactly right in his vision for a new Jedi order.........just a few thousand years later, they would end up with the exact dogmatic Council. Bureaucracy is the greatest evil. 😉

Balance in the Force-harmony between all life-was achieved and maintained through understanding and accepting the the dark side of the Force and while serving the light side of the Force; practitioners of this method, namely Jedi, devoted themselves to the will of the Force,[3][2] acting in accordance to the symbiotic relationship between the Living Force and the Cosmic Force-the transformation of the energy of all life to the greater energy field that bound everything-by submitting to the Cosmic Force and what it communicated to them through the midi-chlorians.[13]"

Form 7 taps into anger and aggression, not directly the dark side which is an important distinction. The dark side uses these emotions, yes, but the use of such emotions are not necessarily the dark side. Jedi fear the use of emotions in general, and especially those, as it leads to easy corruption to the dark side by their view which is why they ban them. As written, the dark side isn't a balance of the light side, but a corruption of it and not natural. A force user can use the force in general with emotion without being corrupted by the dark side or going through the dogmatic view of the jedi. It is just hard to keep the balance without falling one direction or another. Luke, though, was able to do this (forgetting for the moment the era in Legends where Luke did fall to the dark side for a bit before coming back).

At the time, Luke was attacking his father, Luke was at first at rage and ended up cutting Darth Vader's hand off. The positive side is Luke did not resort to killing and Luke did ended up to stick to a Jedi way. I mean he didn't continue the fight after Darth Vader lost his hand and then Luke toss away his light saber right in front of Sidious. For that, Sidious lost his power to put negative influence on Luke all because Luke ended up showing mercy. Many other past Jedis thought the way to beat Sidious was to give in to a dark side and thus, they ended up being a sith. Instead Luke begs father father save me save me. So since Darth Vader was already the Sith at the time, Sith ended up killing Sidious in order to save his son and that also in turn save the trouble of Luke getting his hands dirty. So how Luke gets to walk out of that fight is still keeping that Jedi dignity since Luke did not break any Jedi code. Luke did not attack when his father was down and purposely dropped his weapon to show Sidious I am unarmed. I won't resort to killing in cold blood. Luke is one of the Jedi that was willing to show mercy which is something many Jedis could not do. Luke must of somehow gotten Yoda's wisdom.

Right? It's a prime example of how the worldbuilding of a franchise can be spun up well beyond the original visions in mind.
Samuel L. Jackson wanted a purple lightsaber to stand out on screen, and voila - a whole backstory about the meaning of purple lightsabers soon followed, that has shaped the lore of how the Force works ever since. Divided as they always be, creative fanbases are the best fanbases.

But Luke being himself, strong in the force, overcame this guilt and showed his insane power in the end of VIII. For me, this makes him even stronger and wiser than any of the prequel Jedi.

The force as we know it strives for balance this is why we see the numbers of both light and dark wielders always always equal out or at times those of one side lose power to become more closely balanced to the other. Consider how during the clone wars there was a massive amount of Jedi and only 2 sith, not accounting the number of force wielders who were unaffiliated to either set, but towards the end of the clone wars we see all the Jedi wiped out and we are left with yoda and obi which is a mirror reflection of palpatine and anakin. Two sith two Jedi balance obtained, so from that perspective anakin did bring balance back to the force as it was written he would. It just so happened that the unbalanced or unchecked factor was the Jedi and we see this brought back to balance, we had snoke and Kylo on one side and Rey and Luke on the other snoke is killed and then luke dies leaving 1 and 1 again balance.

Back in the mid 80s, all we had was what we saw on the big screen and had to conjecture the rest. My brother and I had to fill in the blanks using only the movies. We concluded that Obi-wan and Anakin fought side-by-side in a big Jedi-vs-Clones war. The clones were close to winning when Anakin decided that it would take learning the dark side to the force to prevail. Anakin secretly searches out Sith Lord Palpatine (we didn't know him as Darth Sidious back then) to teach him dark side fighting techniques. Anakin's newfound abilities help win the clone wars, but there's a price. Anakin's use of the dark side corrupts him and he joins Palpatine in a jedi purge. We theorized that Anakin(now Vader) and Palpatine located a vessel that was transporting all of the jedi except Obi-Wan. Palpatine manages to destroy the transport (but Yoda gets away) and Vader is sent off the dispatch Obiwan. Obi-Wan defeats Vader in a duel at a volcano. Vader falls into lava but Obi-Wan can't bear to watch his one-time best friend die, and pulls him out and saves his life. Obi-Wan does everything he can to help his friend recover both physically with robotic augmentations and pyschologically with Jedi healing. Obi-Wan fails to recover Anakin and is forced into a second duel against Vader. Vader again loses, this time Obi-Wan takes Vader's arm but again fails to bring himself to dispatching his one time friend. Obi-Wan and Yoda realize they are the last of the Jedi, but there's a new hope. Yoda learns that Anakin has twins on the way. He takes one to be raised by Alderaanian Royalty and the other to be raised by Anakin's brother and sister in law (Owen and Veru) who take baby Luke as FAR away as they possibly can from all that. Yoda has Obi-wan watch over Luke, and Owen is pretty much pissed off by that. Yoda's plan is to allow Luke to come of age and bring back the Jedi Order, with Leia being a secret back-up plan. Then the original trilogy happens. Luke does indeed use the dark side to defeat Vader. The difference was in the training. Obi-Wan and Yoda never bothered training Luke into complete Jedi. They didn't have the time for that. They trained him to defeat Vader and Palp, in which they OVERTRAINED him to resist the dark side, as they knew that Palp would use the same tactics he used on Anakin to turn him. They trained him to be a strict warrior and the jedi stuff would simply have to come later, if there was a later. So fast forward to the final duel. Luke taps the dark side to defeat Vader. Instead of beginning his path down the dark side, Luke sees Vader's severed mechanical hand and then Yoda's training kicks in. Beware of the darkside. Luke then chooses the light-side path. Then Palpatine begins to fry Luke and Vader then realizes that Palp is going to take Luke to the edge of death and rebuild him into a half-robot like himself. That's where Vader chooses another path and becomes Anakin to save his son from the same fate. Palps doesn't see it coming because he's focused on frying Luke. Palps dead, Anakin dying without his breathing apparatus. So Luke was able to resist the dark side path because Yoda trained him primarily for that. In Jedi, Luke says "So I AM a JEDI!" And Yoda laughs. He's nowhere close to being a jedi, but he's maxed out in Jedi combat tactics and Jedi dark-side resistance. He'll be able to teach himself the rest at a later date. So while everything I postulated in the 80s has been nixed, the fact remains that Yoda's trained him to be dark-side resistant.

Yoda: NO! No! There is no 'why'! (exasperated sigh) No more will I teach you today.

    • @hp2546
      @hp2546 Рік тому

And at the same time, When there was Jedi Order back in Revenge of the Sith, there were certain rules to follow where a Jedi needs to show mercy. Many Jedis failed to show mercy around Palpatine. Luke may not know the rules of how the previous generation was like but at the end of the day, Luke did stick to the Jedi way. I mean right after Luke cut off Darth Vader's arm, Luke did not kill. And Luke tossed his light saber away. For that, Palpatine could not take advantage to corrupt Luke. Luke did not break a Jedi code and Luke showed mercy which was something many Jedi could not do. So when Luke resisted the temptation to kill, Palatine could not do anything about it so Palpatine went like fine, I will kill you right in front of your father. When Darth Vader killed Palatine to save his son Luke, it also defeated the purpose of Luke getting his hands dirty as well. That made Luke being a first Jedi to actually stick to a Jedi code thus, not turning to the dark side.

I would argue that Mace Windu had fallen to the dark side after the start off the Clone Wars, but that his fall was only complete once faced Palpatine in the Chancellor's office. His interactions with Anakin speak volumes of his hate/distrust toward him, and even admits in the Revenge of the Sith that he has never trusted Anakin, and that only after Mace deals with Palpatine will he have earned Mace's trust. Something Anakin should have already had if Mace wasn't prejudice against him. Anakin had more than proven his loyalty to the Republic and the Jedi by the start of the outer rim seiges.

His techniques require him to be dangerously close to the Dark Side. Mace is known to always keep himself in check. Palpatine was the biggest threat in the galaxy at that time, so of course Mace isn't going to be that "peaceful, emotionless" Jedi. Someone like Anakin who the Council saw as a ticking time bomb and clearly not following instructions, could you really blame Mace for distrusting Anakin? His training wasn't even approved by the Council from the beginning, yet Obi-Wan trained him anyway. Anakin had ONE job. Wait for Mace Windu to return after dealing with Palpatine. Mace's failing was that he actually gave Anakin benefit of the doubt in RotS.

@@kyber452 what was it Mace Windu said in Chancellor Palpatine's office? "He's too dangerous to be kept alive!".. funny how Palpatine speaks almost those exact same words to Anakin after he killed Count Dooku. "you did the right thing, he was far too dangerous to be kept alive.."
Let's not forget that Mace Windu has always disliked and distrusted Anakin, since day one. Hell, he said as much himself when he told Anakin to stay behind. " if what you say is true you will have earned my trust!" After all the time Anakin spent with the Jedi, fighting alongside them, training with and taking meals with them, Mace Windu didn't trust even trust him, not once. Now tell me would you give your trust and obedience to a man who doesn't trust you and never has? Wouldn't you be just as much of a "ticking timebomb" after All those years of distain and distrust?
It is my firm belief that if Mace Windu had swallowed his pride and had given Anakin his trust, even once, had taken him with to arrest Palpatine, and had taken Anakin's Council to take Palpatine alive, that Anakin would have never been turned, fewer jedi would have died trying to take Palpatine down, Order 66 might never have been put into effect and the Empire would never have existed.

You wouldn't grossly overestimate the possible corruption of a frankly impossible type of purity. The word contamination would be replaced by incorporation which is almost infinitely more empowering. This breeds a scientific approach to the study of the force that will simply seek to use the force most efficiently without concerning ones selves with right or wrong in a spiritual setting.

I need to know if something actually happened or if my brain has over time just convinced me it happened despite having no evidence to support the memory.
I was to young too go to a new hope or empire on their first runs, and even if i had been the nearest theater was 2 hours away. We were visiting grandma when jedi came out so it was the first one in the orig-trig i saw as God and Lucas intended.
The issue that necessitates my plea for help is that i have a vivid memory of the moments leading up to the 1:05 time code on this video. I recall Luke having dropped to the floor below Vader and hiding under those stairs then telling Vader he didn't want to fight. Everything is fine to then, but then i distinctly recall Luke put his saber on the floor and rolling it to Vader who picks it up and hangs it on his belt. After Vader telling Luke "ok fuck off I'll get your sister", Luke force grabs it then bam! 1:05
I also recall the next time i saw it on vhs that in one blink and gone moment you could see Luke's saber on vaders belt but then it was gone and Luke sparked it up to attack.
So i ask, am i crazy* or did that scene really exist in some cuts of this movie?
    Thank you for your time

Does the assertion in this video conflict with what we see in 'Boba Fett', and Luke's treatment of Grogu, teaching him while still very young (relatively) and restricting him from maintaining his attachment to The Mandoliorian if he wants to continue his Jedi training?
