I grew up in a legalistic church , and I was heavy scripture and at the time I thought Joel was a prosperity preacher. I was broke and depressed still. I was struggling on so many ways yet I was reading the Bible every day and repenting constantly trying to live right. I thought it was bad to want to be wealthy. One day a friend sent me a video of Joel and I was hesitant to even listen to him. His messages gave me a new perspective of God and my life changed. I can see why people find fault him but he does more Good than harm. Laugh all you want but I am living my best life now. I am not ashamed of the financial success I have now and I can tell in my spirit that I am closer to God than I have ever been. Folks, God is good. It’s ok to be prosperous and happy.

Unfortunately, you fail to see that what we need is a VERY BIG dose of "total depravity" doctrine. We have our ears tickled far too much, and Joel himself has said "we don't need people telling us what do wrong". That's FALSE. We DO need people telling us we are depraved, pathetic, disgusting sinners for that is the nature of sin! The TRUE gospel begins with making us aware of our sinfulness and only then can we realize we NEED to be saved from it. Then, we talk about the redeeming nature of Jesus' act on the cross ... I think you've bought into the pragmatic, liberal, "go with the world's flow" point of view which characterizes the apostate church in these times. So sorry for you bro. Keep searching for truth my friend!

    • @JewandGreek

Total depravity says that man is not capable of seeking God or having saving faith unless God sovereignty extends it to him by virtue of his status as the predestined elect. It's a Calvinist Doctrine that's not based in scripture. So no we don't need total depravity. We all need to recognize that we have a sin nature and a sin problem that can only be solved by faith in Jesus. But that has nothing to do with the doctrine of total depravity.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I've always had this sense about Calvinists that they really don't care about people who are hurting. They will only give you an intellectual answer and send you on your way, and in doing so, they come across as being all brain and no heart. Yeshua was/is both. If I wanted to send someone who is struggling in life, the last place I would ever send them is to Johnny Mac's church.

Your observation is generally (not always) correct. I recently left a reformed church because of church hurt, abuse, and gaslighting. They were some of the most unloving and prideful "Christians" I've ever seen! All head knowledge and almost no heart. They have an almost elitist attitude that believes "I know better than everyone else". I've never seen such cliquishness anywhere in my life. Long story short, I went through a lot of bad things about 2 years ago, and I got almost no sympathy or care from that pastor or close "friends" there. Just intellectual ivory tower explanations that basically were forcing me to just get over it and not really process the emotions or hurt. Then later on when I gently pointed out some of the unlovingness and clique mentality that goes on there, the pastor shut me down, and then proceeded to shun and ignore me along with everyone else in his little clique.

When will we realize that God places different Pastors, Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, and Teachers in different places with a different audience and with different gifts and talents to reach the whole make the knowledge of the His glory spread across the earth and to show just how the depth of God’s love, goodness, mercy, grace, and holiness. I haven’t been on this earth as long as some of you but I know this every pastor or teacher I have set under has had flaws… they have also been gifted in certain areas to teach and demonstrate the Word unlike anyone else I’ve run into. We must learn to appreciate the gifts in people and be careful to not to bear false witness especially against ministers wether we like them or not. Was not Saul anointed and did he not prophesy but yet he was tortured of devils and was a murder who went to a witch for advice but yet David would not touch him though he was anointed king already because he said Saul is God’s anointed God will deal with him. We all see things from a small perspective can you know men’s hearts, hear his thoughts, and know his intents no but God can yes we must call out blatant heresies but if we are to call someone a heretic you must give them a thorough assessment before casting judgment and excommunicating from the church. You will not get that from a sound bite you must study and meet with them address them try and bring correction and then finally excommunication. I think you put things well @Jew and Greek

I believe John MacArthur should have said that Joel Osteen doesn't proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in his book, instead, though he mentions Jesus it is only to quote and support his positivity agenda, even I can see that clearly. The only reason why Joel Osteen's church is so diverse is that their marketing efforts focus on reaching as many people because that will impact the bottom line. In my opinion, it's all about the money and delivering to the audience what they like and want to hear as opposed to the hard stuff that Jesus taught us about this life and our possible future with him in heaven.

    • @JewandGreek
      @JewandGreek  3 роки тому +2

You obviously know squat about Lakewood. They had a diverse congregation 40 years ago when I visited them for a minister's summit. There was no marketing back then. People just came to hear the Word preached and taught by John Osteen - Whites, blacks, Latinos, Asians .... all hungry for God and wanting to learn.
And if you've read Joel's book as I have, he talks about dealing with adversity. I mentioned that in the video.
As for John MacArthur, I've never heard him preach the gospel. He preaches Calvinism. The word "gospel" means "good news". Telling people that Jesus only died for a minority of the human race, and the rest are predestined for hell (for God's glory) isn't exactly good news.

[17] From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

First of all, I have explained in other videos how people like Johnny Mac are taking Joel Osteen out of context regarding the book's title. He wasn't saying that our lives can be better than the afterlife. He was saying that you can put biblical principles into practice today that will improve your life, rather than sitting around and feeling sorry for yourself, hoping that things will get better someday. And second, Joel Osteen affirms the exclusivity of salvation through faith in Jesus. He said that in his interviews with Larry King and with Oprah. And unlike MacArthur, Joel Osteen believes that Jesus died for everybody. So there's that.

Now, who is not fact-checking? I have seen Joel say Mormons, (((Hindus))), and other religions are going to Heaven, so I am not sure why you're trying to defend this guy on that point. It can be found very easily on the internet (but you will call out John for getting his facts wrong on the 20 times Joel mentioned Christ in the book, out of over 300 pages). Put one of John's books side by side with Joels and see who gives more glory to God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit (the difference will be staggering, to say the least). As far as your comment about John being upset about not being on The Larry King show anymore, and Joel's books selling more copies (being popular with the world), I am sure the Bible speaks of that as well in several places. Clearly, it says if you stand for truth, you will not be popular with the world. Jesus, the greatest teacher ever said Himself "know if they hated me they will hate you" (I could get long winded on this point but hopefully you have a Bible and will take time to study a little more). I have a massive problem with ppl that twist scripture and I really dont like the health, wealth, and prosperity people (my little girl has T1D, let me know which one you would prescribe her to?). They have preyed on the poor and the sick for years, and it's extremely sad at the damage they have caused. I was at church last night, and we have a Pastor in from South Africa, and he brought up an amazing point. While Jesus was here, He did heal people, He did give prophecy, but His main point was to teach. He healed ppl to get peoples attention to hear what He had to say. That's what John does is teach, like Jesus said, " If you love me, then feed my sheep." Joel gives motivational speeches, just good pep talks, and that's it. Plus, again, I say he does affirm that other Religions are going to Heaven, and he don't like to tell people they are wrong. Why would he not want to tell people they are wrong, maybe because he likes the money, praise of men, popularity, who knows but God. Side note he also lets women pastor in his building, which is also completely unbiblical. Read the book of Timothy, Paul is very clear on who is to be a Pastor. Do your homework, and stop following just emotions.

You began this video with a non-sequitur (having a multi-ethnic church is not proof of being a good teacher) and ended with speculation based on a clear joke. But that is nothing. The main problem with Joel Osteen is that his prooftexts (already limited by his message) are often grossly out of context. You didn't address that problem. Paul Washer has acknowledged that he did learn from Joel Osteen about encouraging people, but he still pointed out, as many others have done, that Osteen's citations are 'out of context and wrong'. However, he does know Scripture, and his dad was spot on, I just think he's deviated from the true Holiness of God, saying on Larry King that he would attend a homosexual friend's wedding, when that's clearly Un Scriptural, and he dances around those issues, and have no fellowship with people like Oprah Winfrey, unless he's trying to gently set her straight. Jesus never promised sickness - but rather what is easier to say - your sins are forgiven you or Rise up and walk (take up your bed and walk) - sickness was found amongst the unbelievers and disobedient - but to repent and receive garments of salvation instead of the prodigal son's pigsty living
    - your rebuttal couldn't be stated clearer -
Jesus's atonement wrought that wonderful covenant (YHWH - RAPHA - The Lord our Healer) in place for us to appropriate and obtain via faith.
AND SO JUST LIKE THE POISEND ISRAELITES in the wilderness that were bitten by the snakes because of disobedience and murmurings - if they turned to their true God (that He is and that He could provide, acknowledged their Rewarder (Pleasing God and finding results- Heb.11:6) and obeyed and turned to behold the brass snake that Moses made and put on a pole (symbolically of Christ's crucifixion = His atonement) - then they would have approved the things that are excellent (Diaphero - distinguishing what makes us different, to show what is more valuable, to take up the victory all the way through to the finishing line unto the praise of His glory (Phil.1:10, Rom.12:2)
    - and so they would be saved (including bodily healing from their eminent death) - and so as an example for us as well to enjoy much more and that better covenant even in this grace dispensation wrought through Christ - finding every promise a yes and in Him - AMEN!!!
The Calvinists are trying sooo hard to tip the scales of our promises (as not being, health, wealth, and prosperity) that they are making God's promises to be RATHER BLEAK AND HEAVY BURDENED - OR their surety or excuse to only plod along as best they can and bear THEIR own heavy burdens. YES - WE ARE AWARE OF THROUGH MANY TEMPTATIONS WE MUST ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD - but Christ in us makes us well able to achieve that goal that makes us triumph ALWAYS in Jesus (2 Cor.2:14-17) and therefore diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge by us in every place - Hallelujah! and Hence -
Mt.8:17 - He bore our sicknesses and carried our diseases - HALLELUJAH - instead of ashes - Jesus gives us the oil of gladness (joy) for mourning - and the garments of praise instead of a spirit of heaviness
Yes, I also feel Joel could have stated clearer on talk shows that Jesus is the Only Way and to mark those of different gospels, or preaching fallacies - and that there is more to do than a sinner's prayers, etc. - nonetheless - for the Calvinists to concentrate on their 5 points TULIP and total depravity - that we ARE NOT ABLE TO APPROACH GOD TO SAVE US THROUGH OUR OWN DESPERATE DESIRE and hence not able to come to Him through our own will (because of their false premise of pre-election - as if God programs us like robots - are rather something that they must concentrate on and iron out - because that portrays a detrimental presentation and flaw of God's merciful, loving and benevolent character)
and discourages myriads of souls not to approach God (because they have swallowed that bait like a fish captured and cheated (Col.2:8) - that we cannot even approach via faith and find salvation by earnestly groping after God - that is for all men everywhere to discover that all-encompassing love of God - Act.17:25-30).

If you had listen to the question that the young man asked him, and then put yourself in the position in how would you biblically formulate your answer according to Scripture? If you want to be biblical about it, you would’ve said just as John MacArthur did. But you’re taking him completely out of context in fact you’ve twisted the entire situation around and you’re making a strawman argument.
This is case in point as to why women cannot be pastors and teachers no exercise authority over a man in the church assembly, according to God’s word. Just like Eve, who was deceived by the serpent, here you go railing against God’s word. This is intellectually dishonest. You ought to repent for gossiping and spreading lies.
What’s more is your self deceived if you’re going to follow after Joel Osteen, a false teacher who preaches a false Christ, for he does not follow after the Jesus of scripture but follows after his own desires and his own lusts, one who is greedy for selfish gain and makes an absolute killing off of false doctrine.
He follows a Christ that cannot save you. And that’s what you want to go run towards. Let me encourage you to first exam and yourself to see whether you be in the faith. Secondly, test Everything that John MacArthur says against the totality of Scripture. And then I want to also courage you to test everything that Joel Osteen says against the totality of Scripture. They could not be further apart in orthodoxy.
John MacArthur teaches orthodoxy and sound biblical doctrine and utilizes hermeneutics. Joel Osteen preaches himself and fuzzy warm feel good messages about his feelings. @@JewandGreek I am not leaving the evaluation up to Uncle Sam. I am both hearing 'the message', as well as hearing how 'the messenger' describes himself. His Message 'refers to' Christianity, but much of what he speaks on is 'A God of Increase'.
Can you imagine anyone reading the 'FEEDING OF 5000' and actually thinking it was about the miracle of Christ? Only Joel has the CORRECT interpretation: It is about us having INCREASE in our lives! I also believe that if this Church was taxed, that would - necessarily - interfere with God's INCREASE in Joel's life. So to take away the INCREASE would go against the clear message in The Bible.
When Jim Bakker INCREASED - based on Joel's Biblical Message - he was unjustly sent to jail... just for following the undeniable Joel Osteen message. (Please don't read from scripture... you might find things that seem to undermine Joel's Higher Interpretation...)
Of course, Jim repented from his Osteen Biblical Practices. (HAH! Where in the Bible does it talk about repenting from following the Bible???)
I think Churches should be tax exempt, but not because they are 'called' Churches, but because they adhere to the precepts they claim MAKE THEM A CHURCH.
A 'Wiccan' Church deserves tax-exempt status, provided their message is consistent with how they characterize themselves as a Church, does it not? If not, please explain.

WOW! You're quite the ecumenical. Different people mean different things by "Christian". Some people mean that you're affiliated with the Christian faith through membership in a certain church. In the Middle East a Christian is an ethnic or political persuasion. In the Bible they were first called Christians at Antioch, meaning "Little Christs". Most Evangelicals use "Christian" to mean you are regenerated (born again) by faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible says that if you confess Jesus as Lord (God in the flesh, ruler of all creation and the coming King) and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you'll be saved. When you're born again, you have the desire to follow Jesus and be conformed to His character revealed in His Word. I don't know if that's a sufficient answer given its brevity, but I think that sums it up. Blessings.

@@kevinevans8892 Sometimes I don't get notified about comments for whatever reason. I just found this question tonight, so I'll respond. I have stated that Joel needs to be more discerning, and needs to study apologetics. His statement about Mitt Romney saying he believes in Jesus is "good enough for me" was ignorant because the Jesus of Mormonism is a created being and the brother of Lucifer. But that's not the same as saying a strict Mormon can go to heaven, which would imply a knowledge of what Mormonism teaches. Joel has stated that he believes homosexuality is a sin, so if you're saying that he said it's not a sin you're mistaken. The gay wedding thing was poor judgment in my opinion. So if you're asking if I agree with everything Joel Osteen says and does the answer is no. If you're saying that he denies essential Christian doctrine I disagree.

What you’re misconstruing here is that the Jesus that Joel Osteen speaks of, and the Jesus of scripture, are two completely different persons. The Jesus that Joel Osteen speaks of, is not the Lord and Messiah Jesus Christ of scripture. Joel Osteen speaks of a false Christ, one of a different gospel, and one that has no power to save.
Your accusation here is very weak and does not examine thoroughly the text of Scripture. Rather instead, it rivals for false teachers like Joel Osteen. With that I leave you the text of Scripture.
      Ephesians 5:6-12
“6 See that no one deceives you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the [h]sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not become partners with them; 8 for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 [i]as you try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Do not participate in the useless deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; 12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.”

“Hay and Stubble” - there it is I fixed it.
Your new UA-cam handle. That one actually fits you. Because your false doctrines that you teach will not stand the test, and in like manner - all of your works are going to be burned up, along with you, if you don’t repent.
I think you should recognize that you really chose “Jew and Greek” because you want to sound orthodoxy and so you hide behind this pretentious UA-cam handle to convince others that you know what you’re talking about. It couldn’t be more obvious that you actually don’t.
Let me try once more… Since you’re a little thickheaded and you just don’t understand.
If you misrepresent Christ, then it should logically follow that you are not talking about the Christ of scripture. This means you’re talking about a different Christ, and a different gospel, one that has no power to save you.
This is no different than the false teachings of Mormons, Catholics, Buddhists, Hari Krishna’s, Rosicrucians, etc. They all misrepresent Jesus because they are talking about a different Jesus, a different Christ, of a different gospel. When they talk about Christ, they are NOT talking about the Christ of scripture. They are NOT talking about God. they are talking about a demonic counter fit. This is called an idol. Take note of that.
You have a very obvious issue with giving false teachers like Joel Osteen a pass EVERY time… while trying to split invisible hairs in regards to sound biblical teachers/expositors, like John MacArthur. Joel Osteen never mentions Christ because he doesn’t know Christ, and any “Christ “that he refers to is NOT the Christ of scripture. It’s really that cut and dry. It’s kind of shocking that you keep overlooking this one constant thought. Perhaps God has blinded you. Perhaps you would not understand, so you could not understand.
      2 John 1:9-11
“9 Anyone who goes too far and does not remain in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who remains in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; 11 for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.”
Your endorsement of Joel Osteen’s false doctrines and phony Christ that he refers to... demonstrates to everyone quite clearly - that you are self deceived and a deceiver. That you do not know the word of God but rather you pretend to. That you have no desire to handle rightly the word of God, But merely to give the false impression that you do. And that you take part in Joe Osteen’s sin. You sir participate in his evil.
      1 Timothy 5:22
“22 Do not lay hands upon anyone too quickly and thereby share responsibility for the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin.”
      Romans 16:17
“17 Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. 18 For such people are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.“
      Romans 1:28-32
“28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper, 29 people having been filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unfeeling, and unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.”
      (Here’s your life verse)
      2 Corinthians 11:4
“4 For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, this you tolerate very well!”
      Galatians 1:8-9
“8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, even now I say again: if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!”
The bottom line is Joel Osteen is to be accursed - damned. For you to not even see this clearly, but you instead defend him, really exposes your low view of God, Your low view of scripture, you’re high view of self, and your high view of sin.
The one who is spinning is you. Spinning doctrines, spinning words around, spinning a web of lies, spinning your wheels trying to make the same ignorant point you’ve been making all along. I would urge you to repent and shut down your UA-cam channel which would demonstrate a genuine sign of contrition. And then go sit under a sound biblical teacher and expositor like John MacArthur - and learn something finally so that you no longer need to feed from milk only, but from the meat of God’s word.

Religious narcissists want you to suffer and then brag about your suffering. This is done to teach you to be like them and "virtue signal" they are greater than others because they are suffering.
Some suffering is from God but laziness, unbelief and stupidity also cause us to suffer and many use it as an excuse to get attention. My dad use to brag how he was poor and suffering for God when in fact it was his unbelief and stupid decisions that caused him to suffer. He was also selfish with his money toward us kids and toward God. He refused to tithe, claiming it was legalistic, but then treated us with legalism all the time. It was grace and forgiveness for him but no grace for us, typical of reformed preachers like JM. In order to cover up for my dad's lack of faith and obedience he would make himself look good by blaming God for it.
Godly success is frowned upon by the super religious person because they want to control you. It is easier to control poor, desperate and needy people. The devil also loves making people poor because they are more likely to commit sin in poor areas of cities and countries like India. The spirit of religion wants you to be prideful of your misery while serving God, that way your kids and others will see the misery (and false humility while they are acting like they are serving God) and be repulsed by it. Yet the real God of the Bible actually makes our way prosperous and gives us success in Jesus after building our character through trials. They want to stay in the trials so they get glory for suffering and do not come out in victory in order to give God victory for overcoming.

So you don’t think that Joel Osteen denies essential Christian doctrine, huh?
1)His wife is Co pastor of Lakewood Church. This is not a tertiary nor a secondary issue.Paul teaches “I do not permit a woman to teach nor exercise authority over a man.” I mean it’s not like he’s rejecting the essential Christian doctrine taught by Paul the apostle, right??? Nahh! Let’s give the Osteens a pass because they’re so nicety nice nice. This is an out right rejection of an essential Christian doctrine, and it’s just slapped you upside of your head, like a smelly wet fish. You’re welcome.
2)Osteen teaches positive confession/word of faith /name it and claim it. “We have to conceive it on the inside before we’re ever going to receive it on the outside,”. This is false doctrine, that he teaches by asserting that righteous living and trust in God will result in material blessing. Yet this rejects what Jesus explicitly tells us in regards to suffering and persecution as Christians.....So how does that fit in with Joel Osteen’s gospel of positive confession? Furthermore, God is not our servant or some magical Santa Claus nor a genie in a bottle. This is a primary issue.
3)Joel Osteen teaches that “you got to get away from that.” - when regarding churches that tell people that they are guilty before God and cannot measure up to God’s perfect standard in the moral law of scripture. So how does that square with preaching the gospel, when people don’t even recognize that they are sinners in the first place? For what need would they seek for a doctor when they don’t even know that they’re sick? Would you look at that, this is another one of those primary issues.
4)The prosperity gospel is clearly what Joel Osteen teaches. “Tithing is the first key to financial prosperity.” Yet this is a damning heresy. One has to be self-decieved and deceiving others in order to promote such false doctrine. This is heresy. And there goes another one of those primary issues.
5)He teaches the Pentecostal believe that physical healing and wellness are provided in Christ’s atonement. So then why doesn’t he go and heal everybody who’s in a wheelchair or missing an arm, or deaf or blind or mute? Because he’s a liar, and due to the false doctrine that he teaches, he really strives to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes and fleece the flock for filthy lucre. Wow, and yet another primary issue.
6)When interviewed, about his new book that teaches how to become a better you , Joel Osteen was asked - why there was not one mention of God nor one mention of Jesus Christ. To which Joel Osteen says “That’s just my message.“ And rather than teaching the Scriptures, Joel Osteen says “I don’t think that’s my gifting.“ He couldn’t have been more true blue in saying that. He needs to get off of that stage, shut down his ministry, and stop pretending to act like one thats called to be a pastor while demonstrating himself to be the fraud that he really truly is. Man, it’s like a clown car where those rejecting of essential Christian doctrines keep coming out.
The problem is as a pastor he’s supposed to be preaching and teaching God‘s word, not preaching and teaching his own message about himself. These are not tertiary nor secondary issues, they are primary ones. It is startling sir, that YOU overlook such things.… And then in the same breath try to say that you don’t condone him. You’re foolish. The fact that you try to come across as orthodox and sound in biblical doctrine, demonstrates you to be the fraud and a pretender that you really are. You call darkness light and call light darkness, you call good evil and evil good. You are worldly sir, you have no place teaching anything about scriptures. You need to start at the beginning again a nurse from the milk of the word, and leave the meat to those who are more mature in teaching sound biblical doctrine.
What really gives you away as the heretic that you are is the UA-cam handle with which you constructed in order to hide behind, so you that you come across to people as biblical and orthodox and sound in doctrine.…when you are anything but that. I find that people who - hide behind these stupid lofty and high minded pseudonyms, are the people who pedal the most error.
As a few that I like to list, here are some who have qualified:
Modern Day Zorro“, “Sorrowful Sheep”, “Covenant Caswell”, “ Truth Warrior”, “Ephesians 5:11”, ......and now adding to the list .......”Jew and Greek”.
Congratulations, you made the cut and qualified just like the rest of them!
If you can’t see that Joel Osteen denies essential Christian doctrine, then you must really be smokin that hippy lettuce. Even as a former charismatic, I knew then Joel Osteen was lying and refusing to preach the gospel commanded by God. For you to even consider Joel Osteen to be a minister of the gospel, shows that you’re so far left field picking daisies, you don’t even know that you’re in the game anymore. He’s certainly not a minister of the biblical gospel, that’s for sure.
If Joel Osteen can’t reasonably call out Mormons or modelists New Age/new thought Universalists, Then he can’t possibly be promoting essential Christian doctrine. Stating that the Jesus of Mormonism is the Jesus of the Bible, this is another gospel sir with another Christ one that cannot save you. That’s not room for improvement - That’s HERESY, you nitwit. And what’s worse is that you’re actually blind to this heresy.
The fact that you stand with him just shows that you’re like him. And you’re willing to give him a pass, So that likens you to that of a hired hand who runs away from the wolf and lets it tear apart the sheep. Jesus says you’re either for me or against me. Guess where that leaves Joel Osteen to fall,...against Christ, and since you refuse to call out Joel Osteen’s false teaching, you partake in his darkness, and so the same goes for you.
The fact that you don’t see these things wrong with what Joel Osteen tries to attribute to scripture, really marks you out as likened to a false teacher. You’re in the public square and your disseminating false doctrine by giving Joe Osteen a pass and stating that he doesn’t deny essential Christian doctrine. You actually couldn’t be more wrong in that single statement.
Moreover, you’re completely wrong on the multicultural remark. In God’s church there is neither slave nor free man, male or female, Jew nor Greek. As far as the race card that you’re trying to pull as though you’re promulgating the “woke gospel”. There’s only one race. The human race. The word that you were looking for was ethnicities. But the fact that you make any distinction at all is problematic in your own thinking because it’s not biblical. Don’t you dare try to make a discrepancy between people who have more or less melanin. We’re all shades of brown. You’re just blind and vying for social justice. What a tool.
You’re neither hot nor cold but Luke warm since you refuse to call out false teachers like Joel Osteen who promote a different gospel with a different Christ, one that has no power to save. I should also add, MacGyver called, he asked if he could have his mullet back.
You are a fraud. And you are definitely deceiving many with your UA-cam channel giving Joel Osteen such a pass. You had every opportunity to knock that ball off of the T into the infield at the very least, but alas, you didn’t even swing at it. You opted to just sit this one out, and demonstrated yourself to be unqualified for even sharing the biblical gospel.
I encourage you to repent, tear down your UA-cam channel, and sit under someone who is qualified in teaching sound biblical doctrine. Perhaps even John MacArthur. Of course you’ll probably opt for Joel Osteen any day over John MacArthur, seeing as how you absolutely hate total depravity and think calling people to repentance is mean and uncompassionate. Joel Osteen couldn’t exegete himself out of a paper bag. He’s still trying to figure out who is this Herman Neutics dude.

      1. The complimentarian/egalitarian issue isn't an essential issue like justification by faith, the deity of Christ, and the Resurrection. It is indeed a secondary non-salvific issue since you can believe in women preachers or reject women preachers and still make it to heaven.
      2. Jesus Himself told us in Mark 11:23 that we can have what we say if be believe in what we say. If you don't agree with Joel's interpretation of that that's your prerogative, but that doesn't make Joel's interpretation heresy.
      3. I'm not sure what you're referring to here but I think you're saying that Joel tells people that they would be better served by a church that preaches grace more than condemnation. That's a judgment call. Some people come to faith through a preacher who preaches fire and brimstone, and others come to faith through a message of love and grace. God can use both for His glory.
      4. Prosperity is all through the Bible. It was included in Israel's covenant with Jehovah. Job was prosperous. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were too. So were David and Solomon, as well as Hezekiah. There were wealthy people in the early church because James told the churches not to show the rich preferential treatment and warned the rich not to exploit the poor. And the book of Proverbs is replete with instructions in attaining riches or prosperity. So no, prosperity isn't an essential. You can go to hell if you're poor and you can go to heaven if you're rich. The issue isn't your net worth but your faith and confession of Jesus as Lord.
      5. Physical healing is provided for us in the Atonement per Isaiah 53:4,5 and Mat. 8:16,17. If you consider it heresy to teach that then you're condemning 100 million Pentecostals who have statements of faith affirming that. And the fact that Joel teaches that doesn't mean that he has the ability to heal people. Jesus is the healer, and the gifts of healing are dispensed by the Holy Spirit as He wills. We just make ourselves available to Him to teach and minister His Word by faith.
      6. Admittedly Joel isn't a theologian or an expository Bible teacher, but that doesn't mean that he's not qualified to pastor. A lack of theological depth doesn't mean that he's a false teacher or a heretic. It just means that his teaching isn't as deep as others.
I think your issues with Joel are theological more than anything else. You disagree with him so you want to elevate secondary issues to primary status so that you can justify your condemnation of him (and me). Again, Joel affirms the essentials (doctrines necessary to be saved) even if he uses poor judgment and lacks depth. I wouldn't attend his church but I'm not going to condemn those who do. Nor am I going to engage in juvenile namecalling and fingerpointing with the likes of you. Good day, sir.

Instead of giving people the message of man's total depravity, and our need for a redeemer to save us from our sinful nature (what's actually written in the bible), Joel gives his audience a motivational pep talk and makes them feel all warm and fuzzy, oh how wonderful. He promises them money, wealth, happiness and success and wow he even has more black people in his church. That's so much better then some boring old white guy who actually studies the bible every day for hours on end to teach his audience what it actually says. Joel never bores his audience with that level intellectual nonsense, in fact he only briefly holds up the bible at the beginning of every episode, says a few words about it ( I am what it says I am, and I can do what it says I can do...) and then never bothers to open it. He never preaches about sin (the reason Jesus had to come to earth and die), instead he preaches that we are all champions, that's so much better don't you think? Wow what a swell guy! And I like how this guy is making John MacArthur seem like the evil racist white guy without actually saying it. He also calls the white people rich upperclass and white, that must mean that the black people in Osteens church are all poor and lowerclass?

This is the kind of insipid, shallow response that I've come to expect from the Reformed crowd. First of all, (along with the other points I raised) you completely ignored the fact that Johnny Mac lied about what Joel Osteen said in his book. As I recall bearing false witness is one of the Big 10. Secondly, total depravity isn't found in the Bible because it says that man is incapable of responding to the gospel unless God sovereignly grants him that ability. And third, as I said in the video Joel has his faults. But one fault he doesn't have is he doesn't condemn people he disagrees with based on false accusations. The issue here isn't theology but credibility. You don't defend the truth by spreading lies.

    • @conradesterhuizen3453
      @conradesterhuizen3453 3 роки тому

@@JewandGreek So it isn't a lie when Joel takes scripture out of context and twists it to fit his own agenda? Or when he tells his audience that God wants them to be healthy and wealthy, when Jesus actually said that we have to pick up our cross and follow Him, and that we will have tribulation in this world? Jesus had no earthly possession, He was hated and eventually murdered, Joel portrays a completely different Christ, yet that is not a lie? Didn't the bible say that in the latter days men will go after teachers who will tickle their ears? Isn't that exactly what Osteen is doing? Yet you consider him the lesser evil? And just because the term "total depravity" does not appear in the bible, it doesn't mean that it isn't demonstrated over and over again. Just look at David, a man after God's own heart, yet he was adulterer and murderer. If man wasn't completely depraved, he would have no need for a saviour. Then some of us could make it on our own merits. The bible says all have gone astray. Neither is the Trinity mentioned directly but we believe it when we make the logical conclusion. But excuse my for me shallow response I clearly know nothing.

All I know is that YOU like Joel but not Mac. But who needs Joel anyway, we already have Anthony Robbins. Where in the Bible can I read about "living my best life", how can I live my best life when I should expect persecution for believing in Christ, and what will I tell those who will persecute me and come knocking at my door: "Sorry but you cannot persecute me now, I am too busy living my best life". I do not like Joel and his wife sucks (not literally). Joel smiles too much, too many anecdotes come out of his mouth and no preaching, no teaching, just "easy believism" (got that from Johnny Mac). And finally -- I could go on and on --, I don't give a fudge about Johnny, about Joel, or about you: you did not teach anything in your video, you just told us whom you like; so tell me, who asked you, or what moved you, to make this video? Did Joel did? Certainly not Johnny! Sir, you need to remake this video if you are going to side with Joel, and in that new video you need to back up Joel's views with verses or "anecdotes" from the Bible: can you make this video? I do not think so, you are gonna have to wait for a new, more corrupt Bible translation. May I end with with a "God bless you"? Actually, why do you not make a video rebutting me, my name is Fort, Marco Fort.
