      @@JewandGreek A lot of ministries are Judas ministries that dip into the things that people give to God. People don't give to ministries to buy the guy up front a bigger house, they give it believing that it is for Kingdom. John 12:6 is the same heart of many of these ministries. I class my self as a man of faith but i am certainly not WOF. Why use a label for ourselves. I did not enter into an organisation when i got saved. I entered into a Kingdom. Early days i read quite a bit of Hagin but Copeland is certainly not Hagin !!!.

    Exceptionally balanced teaching from a word of faith guy that has been around the block and has learned to take Kenneth Hagins saying seriously “ be as smart as an old cow -eat the hay and leave the sticks”. Thank you for Letting word of faith people know what Kenneth hagin clearly taught!!! Love you Rod! You are helping hundreds of thousands stay balanced and and get off the false excesses of the prosperity gospel.

    My understanding/revelation of tithing and giving came about as fruit of the Spirit. I don't give to receive it back multiplied, but I trust God will still do it. I don't give out of obligation or guilt--I give because I trust God to use it.
    I give because God has given so much to me and I trust He will meet my needs. I don't need to pray that my needs be met because I already trust God for that. So I pray He will give abundantly, so I can also give abundantly and so I can prosper in my ministry for Him. So giving away money I could certainly use or maybe even need is an act of faith because I'm trusting the Lord will use it where it is needed.

    "What requires a lot of money is ministry the way we prefer to do it!" Haha, love it. And you are absolutely correct when you say we could reach the world in a few years if we used the resources now available to us. For years I trained missions mobilization both domestically and internationally, and studies that have been done estimate we have more than 10 times the resources necessary. As you say, it's a matter of priorities AND lack of power - power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

    Rod, Good balanced approach. Yes there are two ditches on the prosperity topic, and we need to find the biblical middle. I have noted that the word "prosperity" is in the Bible about 70 times. And it is not always just spiritualized prosperity nor is it just economic. It is often a wide-sense meaning (good relationships/family/favor/jobs/crops, etc).
    1 - Joseph prospered because the Lord was with him (Gen 39:2)
    2 - Psalm 1 says that those who delight is in the law of the Lord - everything they do will prosper
    These are good vectors to incorporate into our lives.

    @4:30 ... "Not to exploit the poor"
    That's the key part for me, it's the hypocrisy. Rich will claim to care about helping the poor, while those poor suffer around them. The OT is full of examples of God condemning the rich leaders who live lavished lifestyles while their people suffered.
    One can't claim to care about helping others when you have so much to do so much helping with, but don't

Maybe I'm saying that because I agree 100% with what you're saying here, but then I came to the same conclusion as you from scripture and not from listening to you (and I've never listened to Kenneth Hagin), so I believe this is from the Holy Spirit.

    A correction of saying that the OT tithe was never money. I recently saw the scripture in Deuteronomy 14:22-26. The requirement was to tithe on all your produce (NAS) or increase (KJV). However if you couldn't bring that tithe to the Tabernacle or temple because you lived too far away you were to sell it and take money with you. When you arrived you converted it back to oxen, sheep or "whatever your heart desires" and bring that.
    The average percentage of all Christian giving is 2.5%. Mathematically, this means that less than 25% of Christians tithe. It also means that the vast majority of Christians are giving very little, cheerfully or otherwise.

  • @lightlover33
    @lightlover33 4 роки тому +1

    Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. This mean Christians are at liberty to emphasize aspects of the Bible they believe are needed. It also means they recognize when a doctrine becomes out of balance to the exclusion of other truths.

And perhaps the best critique of the "prosperity movement" I have ever heard. As he said, I always associated "word of faith" with the "prosperity" madness that is going on. Now I'm a bit curious...

    Titheing- " shows you how harmful titheing can be if incorrectly taught". They gave up on titheing. No this shows how little there faith was. If you truly believe something you will take it to your last breath. I have tithed for over 13 years before the windows opened up for me. I had many opportunities to quit, but I refused to because I believe what God said.

    • @JewandGreek
      @JewandGreek  5 років тому +5

      Well I believe what God said too, but nowhere in the Bible are we told to give 1/10 of our income to the church. But even if you do, you're not really "tithing" because tithing was only done with food and livestock to support the Levitical priesthood. New Testament giving is non-compulsory.

    • @travishowett1189
      @travishowett1189 5 років тому +3

      @@JewandGreek with all do respect but do u really believe this argument of only fruits and vegetables. That was their money back then. One of the main purposes of the tithe is our hearts condition towards greed. I would encourage you to go watch Robert Morris on titheing. I respect you very much and appreciate your rebuttals. This topic we may have to disagree on

    • @JewandGreek
      @JewandGreek  5 років тому +5

      @@travishowett1189 I didn't say fruit and vegetables. I said food and livestock. If you'll read the Law of Moses you'll see that that's the case. They never tithed with money. And yes, they had money in the Old Testament. Abraham used money to buy a burial plot for Sarah. I've watched Robert Morris and I like the guy but he's wrong on this issue. Again, I believe in giving. Don't misinterpret my position on this. But the New Testament teaches cheerful giving, not compulsory giving. Nowhere in the NT are we told that we're under a curse if we don't give 10% of our income, or that we're sure to get rich if we do. Blessings.

      Levi was a descendant of Abraham so Abraham preceded him of course. I think maybe what is throwing you off is my use of the word "type". Types and antitypes are just references to foreshadowing in Scripture. For example, Jonah in the fish was a type of Christ in the grave.

    Hi Rod
    Just like to say great channel keep up the great work your in my prayers.
    Agreed with all you said.
    However I don't think preachers downsizing would make much difference, the unsaved will judge you because of what you do have,and they will also judge you by the poverty lifestyle some Christian's think they should be living to be godly
    I am new in the word of faith that's why I am so grateful for your channel its giving me answers and understanding to be able to articulate where I am in the body of christ.
    Can I ask if oppulance is something we should shy away from ,should we read about ,,Job ,,Solomon,, Abraham and others ?
    I know it was only cows donkeys and sheep and goats no to mention the gold and other riches these men and women of god had, but why didn't god tell them to downsize instead of giving it to them?
    I agree with you seek ye first the kingdom of god (Him first His kingdom first above all, as we are for him) and all these things shall be given onto you.
    When he gives the to me, because god does not lie.
    So in what ever form those blessings come should I then downsize to appease others.I think there is always going to be someone who has the potential to be offended
    Weather we are opulent or living on the street in a tent
    Thanks again Rod keep being a blessing
    God Bless you.

    Would supernaturally cancelling someone's debt be out of God's character or nature?

    • @JewandGreek
      @JewandGreek  6 років тому +9

      IMO it would be, but I can't give you a solid scriptural basis for that. Rom. 13:7 says _"Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed."_ Ps. 37:21 says _"The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives"._ So it would seem that God expects us to pay our debts, which means that He's probably not going to intervene in this area. Of course God is sovereign and can cancel a person's debt if He wants to for His purposes, but it would seem to me that that would be the exception rather than the rule.

I am faith through and through but definately not WOF and i am totally blessed when you just preach the word. Faith comes by hearing the word and not hearing about false doctrines that usually have the opposite effect. Like yourself i have read what is true and because of that can quickly discern false like our friend JP. Others need to know truth so they can also discern for themselves. It would save you a lot of time. Blessings Dave.
