    Thank you for the video- I am trying to finish up an older piece- The House of Hardanger. I wish the newer cross stitchers would learn and master some of these beautiful techniques.

    Nina, you are a phenomenal instructor! After watching several of your segments, I must tell you, I am inspired. I feel for my husband, who will have to find a hobby of his own, because I think I've just discovered what I may be doing for the better part of my retirement days!!! :-)

      Now I have to ask - are you the Nicole I know in Ottawa? If not, I now know two Nicole Da Costas!
      Yes, our poor husbands, they will be at loose ends. I keep offering to teach him how to stitch or knit (or whatever else I'm doing) but so far he's not taken me up on my offer. His loss!
      I'm so glad I inspired you and thanks so much for letting me know. Nina.

    Hi Nina. I'm glad that you had a good holiday. Thank you thank you for turning your work for the left hand stitchers. I am very happy to let you know that this made it easier for me. Reversing worked. I made a copy of my work and mark the number sequence on my copy. So thankful for your guidance and tips you give in your tutorials. OK now I have to get back to stitching. So much fun.

      I was thinking of you when I did it! I'm learning as well.

      Stitching with a Smile don't want to sound pretentious (not sure if that's the right word) but I had that impression that you were thinking about me when you did that. I'm touched by your thoughtfulness.
      I wanted to share something but not knowing how to attach a picture in youtube I will send you via email a picture of a crosstitch I finished while you were away. It is for the 150th of Canada. It's called MacDonald Maple Leaf. Take care.

    I love your video's! I haven't done hardanger in ages and now I have to get back into it. I love that you include where to buy the products you use in Canada. Thank you for that!

    So, I'm back again. :) I finished the cable stitching which took me longer than expected and spent yesterday afternoon doing the cutting. Whew, no wrong cuts. Now to find time to do the weaving, but that may take some time with the holidays upon us. Thanks again, loving this. Oh, and now I'm wanting to do a large HAED x stitch piece if I can get the threads on sale this week on Black Friday. Crossing my fingers...

    • @stitchingwithasmile677
      @stitchingwithasmile677  7 років тому

      One of my favourite stitches is the cable stitch. How did you find it? You're ambitious doing a HAED. I have two I bought but have not tackled yet.

    • @carolinarkasas26
      @carolinarkasas26 7 років тому

      I'm with you, I really enjoyed the cable stitching. Was not sorry it took as long as it did. LOL. Well, I will do the HAED if I can get thread on sale, otherwise it won't happen. Just can't afford. I am asking my DH for plans (and him to build) a large floor stand as I really would like one for my artwork also- I want to do larger pieces. I assume you've heard that Nordic Needle is closing. I am/was so sad. I put in a large (for me) order for the last little hoop frames they had that I use for the art, and some Hardanger patterns and the Fancy Fundamentals book I've been wanting (can't remember it's exact name, but there are 2, this is the second one of the set, I have the first). I have to tell you, I was so very excited- I got a call from a show that will happen in Jan. on one of my art pieces. I wasn't even sure they would be accepted into the show. It's an international miniature show, but I not only was juried in, I won first place in Mixed Media!!! They said they had never seen anything like it! :D Painted background, then I stitch over my painting in certain areas. Teeny tiny- that's what I use the frames for. Now I don't know where I'll get them. What HAED's do you have and how large? I'm looking at Minerva's Melody because I am learning the harp. :)

      Wow, you have lots on the go! Including learning the harp. I was really sorry to hear about Nordic Needle too. From what I understand they will still have online shopping, just not a retail store, at least I hope I heard right. Congratulations on your first place win. Ever thought of doing a video showing how you do your mixed media art? Thats sounds really interesting and I'm sure there are many who also would be interested to see it. From Haed I have Paisley Cat 2 (for myself) and Lunch with a Toothpick (to make for my son).

      Happy Thanksgiving (I know this isn't your Thanksgiving date but since I don't know it, I will wish you a happy one for today. LOL. Just a day getting ready for next week- decorating for Christmas. Nordic Needle is hoping to stay online, depending on financial at the closing of the store, which doesn't sound hopeful to me for some reason. I hope they do manage. I'm always so sad to see any small business go and this one is "special" for us stitchers. No, I never thought of that, but I have no idea how to do a video! I don't even know what you need to do one. I admire all you guys that do this. I'm not sure how I would video that without putting everyone to sleep, but I do have some hopeful plans in order to share them with the stitching world. "Stay tuned" as they say. LOL. I'm afraid to tell anyone for fear of jinxing- and also they might think I was loony (and not in a Canadian coin sort of way.) LOL

      Went and checked out your HAED's. The kitty will be pretty but I sure did laugh when I saw the Lunch with a Toothpick. Love it, even showed it to my husband (who I suspect thinks we are all crazy. LOL)

      This is a free pattern from Nordic Needle. Here is the link:
      www.nordicneedle.net/swag/#.XaoFkC0ZPVo
      It's called "Ivory Octagonal Doily" (about 3/4's of the way down the page). There are many others there too that you might like.

    OK, Ready to start needle weaving, but unsure about thread to use. :( #8 or #12?

    • @stitchingwithasmile677
      @stitchingwithasmile677  7 років тому

      I've forgotten the fabric you are using. If it's a 22 or 25 count I would suggest the #8 pearl cotton. If a higher count, use the #12. Have fun!

      Hello! Perhaps you can try the captions. If you click on the 'CC' at the bottom of the screen, then click the gear shift looking thing beside it, click on subtitles and choose Arabic. I really hope that works and helps you out.
