Spiff was in Caelid and didn't take advantage of the completely defenseless dragon that drops 70,000 runes by Fort Faroth upon death with a completely safe path to it. Additionally, there's another Boulder spawn in Caelid that also kills enemies and gives lots of runes
Man, i really love that path. From my second character on I allways do that "trick". Step 1 take the Front door ruins ash of war knife applyer. Step 2 kill the guy at the top of Fort Haig for the bleed ash of war. Step 3 go to caelid via church of marika tp and kill greyoll (if I can't apply the bleed on my weapon, I just would take the caelid site of grace, travel to the round table and buy a sword or a swagger). Step 4 start the game at like level 40. I recognize that I am adictet to it ^^
@@riverpubby when you kill all the surrounding dragons near the big dragon the big one dies. That’s the intended way of killing it rather than using bleed
Hilariously enough Spiff, you could have easily made this nastier, in Limgrave on the ledge above Augeel Lake to the north there is a Scarab that gives the Ash of War: Determination which boosts the damage of your next attack but is consumed when you hit... except the programmers screwed up so it also boosts Spells while not being consumed by them. So what you do is you shove Determination onto a Dagger in your off-hand, activate it, then drink your Mixed Physick (pronouced Phys-ick) and let rip with Comet Azur for even more hilarity.
You can do more with this. There's a spell named Terra Magicus that boosts sorcery damage by 30%, and multipliers in Elden Ring are multiplicative. So if you stack Determination and Terra Magicus... Let's just say you rapidly approach war crime territory.
@@lokey57 you can takr this an aditipnal step further, in the volcano manor you can get an improved determination that has a larger dmg increase. IIRC determination is 50%, and knights determination is 100%.

Hahaha, another favorite quote: 14:21 "That's one of the downsides of having an open world game, because you can just use the open world, to avoid the game" - The Spiffing Brit
With that logic you might also be able to say that every game is a open world game because you could just use the open-world to avoid playing that game
It is true for badly designed open world games like Elden Ring, not a problem with Halo Infinite, God of War, or Horizon just to name a few... Although Elden Ring couldn't do much, I don't think they should've stuck so strictly with open world given their game is all about fighting bosses which isn't true for these other games so it works better for them.

for easy runes you can also use a weapon with bleed damage, near the first grace when you enter the open world go down the beach and on it's end you will find a gold pickled fowl foot on a corpse. Honestly, that was how I played the game for two playthroughs and it's extremely underpowered. Compared to literally any other character builds anyway. Most of the more difficult bosses move fast and have very little cooldowns to get hits in. This puts colossal weapons at a large disadvantage and quicker weapons hit just as hard so you don't even see a damage increase. Lighter weapons also get access to better weapon arts that give movement abilities that are invaluable for fights like Malenia. The only thing you can really do with colossal weapons is constant hit and run tactics with a jumping attack. But it ends up being more dangerous and doing less damage than a bleed katana with a teleporting weapon art. I only persisted with colossal weapons because I'm stubborn and duel wielding colossal swords is badass.

@@Orangejuiceinthefridgs you would be better off killing the milita men before the boulder as each gives just as many souls and can easily be stun locked
There are tons of exploits to get overpowered easy but I'll list a few here. that short bridge where you farm bouldy at nighttime a night Calvery will spawn, simply run up the poison trapped hill and MAKE SURE IT FOLLOWS YOU, the boss will die to the poison, it will lose about 5% HP and then immediately die granting you 45k runes. Move onward to fort farroth there will be a huge dragon that doesn't move, simply get a bleed weapon and wack it until it dies netting you 75k runes or 100k with a gold fowl foot. after beating godrick you can do whitemask quest which is super easy then get early access to a very late game zone with another boss (mohg) that you can cheese for an easy 600k runes with rune boosting items, in the same area you can farm a chicken with a bow for easy 10k runes every ten seconds. there are tons of videos on how to achieve these so you can easily find out how to do them.

The tower by the grace where you farmed the boulder has a memory stone in it, no need to buy one. Just jump inside through the balcony on the backside using the updraft and go to the top.
Fair warning, they nerfed this strategy. You can still do it technically, but it will NOT one shot anything worth all the setup. It just doesn't do this much damage anymore, even if you get like ALL the damage boosts. I know, because I tried. Adula didn't give a FUCK.
Gotta do that trick where you use Determination or, Brave knights Determination on an Offhand dagger, and then use a spell, It ups spell damage by... almost double if not triple sometimes.
After you go through the teleporter in the shrubbery, The enemies on the road give you 1000 runes each, theres a point of grace just down the hill and there are about 10 or 11 of them in that small area. (They will pretty much oneshot you normally... but they stunlock easily and if you are immortal you can get infinitely more runes just farming them than you get with the boulder. Also more fun lol.) Also if you follow the road down along the bridge and past the dragon (you can just ride past if you're quick) and then go down the hill to the minor erd tree, go around the tree to the left and youll find a jump pad thingy, which brings you to a spot behind a massive dragon.... who won't move an inch... even if you hit it with everything you have. So If you go beat it up for a while and then use one of the golden chicken foot item boost thingys before it dies. It gives you about 90k runes. It also kills the three dragons that surround it when it dies.
Sorta depends how you play and what you use. Also depends on how stubborn you are, game can be agonizing if you refuse to change tactics... which I'm guilty of.

Thank you, Mr. Spiff, for making it sound like you can just pick up the tear gems from the erdtree instead of having to kill the two bosses that spawn there.
I wouldn't call anything beyond the temporary immortality an exploit, the tear is insanely hard to get, unless you keep that immortality long enough by not being yeeted off a cliff. All in all it's a fun gimmick that works on some bosses
It does work on just about every boss with some better setup (meteorite staff, determination ash multipliers, etc.), and isn't terribly tough. Your only required boss to get the tear is the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, which can be very safely fought at a range, gets its AI broken by a stagger in the phase change, and has a weakness to any fire you can cast. At the very least, it shows off your staple from the late level 50s to your endgame as a caster, which can be accessed before you fight a single shardbearer with the right rune farming spots.
I'm surprised you didnt include the Meteorite Staff, a super easy to get staff which has S scaling in INT right from the get-go. Its immensely powerful and isnt overtaken by other staffs until those are around +7
he even thinks the digger staff boosts comet azur xD there is only one staff for this build and its lusats glintstone staff, boosts dmg for cost of fp, which you dont use anyway
Huh, perfectly balanced as all things should be. I love how ever class has a completely over powered and busted build it makes the game so much fun. Except for fires deadly sin, that shit sucks so much.
My favourite 'broken' build (that is not an obnoxious exploit like the instadeath build) is flame of frenzy build. You literally have sniper lazer eyes that can stun people in one charged shot, which is basically a death sentence.
the only thing you broke on the game was on the start with imortality but the giant and gravity turned you back to mortal. the rest off the game you just played as a mage.
I finally managed to get the flask items for infinite FP. I uploaded a boss fight to my channel and tagged you; couldn't figure how to video response. Thanks for the video!
There's a giant dragon in Caelid that doesn't attack back and gives like 75k~ runes which goes up even more if you eat a gold pickle foot (or whatever it was called). It has an enormous HP pool but is super weak to bleed damage so you can just find whatever weapon with bleed and kill it in like 5 minutes. Skip an enormous part of the boulder grinding.
This was my go to strat on my Mage xD I play multiple different Characters at once and after going at it with a couple of melee characters, a Cleric and/or Paladin a Dragon worshipper and others it's nice to just sit back, walk into the bossroom and destroy basically everything and anything that's behind that fogwall :D
FYI invincibility glitch now only works for that one fight although it might be possible with the iron maiden at the bottom of the Raya Lucaria water wheel/elevator Edit: also recently discovered a glitch you can pull of at the bestial sanctum which involves agro ing the black gargoyle and running to the back right side of the sanctum and having him fall off the cliff You can also cheese White Dragon, Elder Dragon Greyoll in calid by using a bleed weapon on its back left leg (south from the fort faroth site of grace) There is a rune grind location in Mohgwyn's Palace just rest at the site of grace called the palace approach ledge road (bottom left, you will need to to varre's quest after stormveil) Get up from the grace, look down to the left down the cliff and shoot the closest giant birds, they will come running and fall right off the cliff for a tidy 10,000 souls a piece be sure to stand close to the edge most other players put down messages of optimal locations to draw the birds agro or just watch for their phamtoms.
Dont run back up the hill, just fast travel and it automaically counts as resting. Also as far as early game grinding spots there is one that gives 17k every 10 seconds and all you need to do is beat the first story boss to have access to the NPC and also have a bow or crossbow
There's another area that you can farm runes with no interaction. There's an area where spectral soldiers spawn and fight the enemies there. They just keep respawning and you get a buttload of runes 😁

Two things, the boulder farm is easier with your horse and there's a second one time "farm" with a huge dragon just laying there and a few smaller dragons walking around, if you get a weapon with bleed you'll kill the big one in a minute, which kills all the smaller ones at the same time, netting you a huge amount of runes

For anyone following this guide, just get the Meteor Staff from the swamp. You can open a trapped chest in the dragon burnt ruins that will send you to the crystal tunnel. Then you simply run downwards and exit it, to go into the swamp. Ride your horse over to the ruins and then politely borrow both the Meteor staff and Rock Sling from the nice swamp inhabitants. A couple of things you could have done easier:
-You can get a memory stone directly in the tower next to the site of grace by the boulder, you just have to use the air current to jump with Torrent on the roof and then get inside
-There is a large dragon that yield something like 80 000 runes that you can kill very easily close to there, you just have to attack its tail with any bleeding weapon and you will kill it in about 2-3 minutes
You don't even need the stats for the weapon for the bleed to proc either. I did it with a Reduvia when I didn't have the stats in Arcane and he still bled frequently.
I actually did the dragon whilst recording but it got cut from the edit. I will turn it into a short and upload it midweek so others can enjoy the level 1 flail with bleed vs level 100 dragon

for easy runes you can also use a weapon with bleed damage, near the first grace when you enter the open world go down the beach and on it's end you will find a gold pickled fowl foot on a corpse. This item will increase runes gained by 30% for a short time.
After that go through the same portal that spiff went through but this time cross the bridge with the dragon but ignore him, continue the path until you see a really big white dragon, in fact so big it can't move and you can poke it until the dragon dies. The dragon has lots of health but bleed does % damage this will speed up the process considerable. Use your gold pickled fowl foot just before the dragon dies and it's an easy ~96k runes.
Comet Azure is classified as primeval sorcery not stonedigger sorcery. It gets a 15% damage boost from Azur's Glintstone Crown which you can get from the same npc that drops the spell.
the worst part is, you can make that spell even stronger with another spell called "terra magicus", a better staff than the one you used called "Lusat's glintstone staff", and a nice pointy hat called "azur's glintstone crown" that increases azur spell damage.

Ah, you meant rhe meteor staff. My bad
Thank you, Mr. Spiff, for making it sound like you can just pick up the tear gems from the erdtree instead of having to kill the two bosses that spawn there.
He did say that at the northern one you had to stunlock the boss.
Depends on the tree, some dont have an avatar
Watching you do that to Margitt was *very* cathartic thank you! As always you are the most spiffing of Brits! Looking forward to more videos by you!
Its immensely powerful and isnt overtaken by other staffs until those are around +7
he even thinks the digger staff boosts comet azur xD there is only one staff for this build and its lusats glintstone staff, boosts dmg for cost of fp, which you dont use anyway
oh, and use azurs set helm for boost on azurs spells, ie the comet azur
I have a ton of other staffs level 10+ and I still use Meteorite lol
@@aligr3224 Good to know, I have the spell but not enough INT yet, close though :)
Huh, perfectly balanced as all things should be. I love how ever class has a completely over powered and busted build it makes the game so much fun. Except for fires deadly sin, that shit sucks so much.
*Cries in Hero*
My favourite 'broken' build (that is not an obnoxious exploit like the instadeath build) is flame of frenzy build. You literally have sniper lazer eyes that can stun people in one charged shot, which is basically a death sentence.
@@spinyslasher6586 It's also literally just the Jackie Chan Adventures HEAT BEAM EYE BLAST meme down to the color.
The machine gun shield is hilarious for a melee build, just a shame it shares a spell with the Exploit Which Shall Not Be Named
the only thing you broke on the game was on the start with imortality but the giant and gravity turned you back to mortal. the rest off the game you just played as a mage.
I like how the video ends when he makes it to the castle gate with the archers lol
The way you just obliterated Margit like that was absolutely amazing.
If you use a gold pickled fowl foot it actually goes a lot faster; using one will make you get a lot more runes per kill for a short ammount of time
I finally managed to get the flask items for infinite FP. I uploaded a boss fight to my channel and tagged you; couldn't figure how to video response. Thanks for the video!
You make everything fun.
I love open worlds and there's always something fun to break the game with.
I wish you had gone into some pvp invasions with the glass cannon. I feel this would have been very entertaining!
From what I understand he is a quest npc....
@@drafty9580 they arent. theres no way to interact with them and killing all the smaller dragons around them with red eyes also kills the big dragon.
@@drafty9580 She is Elder Dragon Greyoll, mother of dragons. Unconfirmed as to a potential questline link.
FYI invincibility glitch now only works for that one fight although it might be possible with the iron maiden at the bottom of the Raya Lucaria water wheel/elevator
Edit: also recently discovered a glitch you can pull of at the bestial sanctum which involves agro ing the black gargoyle and running to the back right side of the sanctum and having him fall off the cliff
You can also cheese White Dragon, Elder Dragon Greyoll in calid by using a bleed weapon on its back left leg (south from the fort faroth site of grace)
There is a rune grind location in Mohgwyn's Palace just rest at the site of grace called the palace approach ledge road (bottom left, you will need to to varre's quest after stormveil) Get up from the grace, look down to the left down the cliff and shoot the closest giant birds, they will come running and fall right off the cliff for a tidy 10,000 souls a piece be sure to stand close to the edge most other players put down messages of optimal locations to draw the birds agro or just watch for their phamtoms.
Brilliant as always, Spiff!
Here I thought using fireballs in dark souls 2 was cheesy enough.
Spiffing Brit- hold my souls
Dont run back up the hill, just fast travel and it automaically counts as resting. Also as far as early game grinding spots there is one that gives 17k every 10 seconds and all you need to do is beat the first story boss to have access to the NPC and also have a bow or crossbow

There's another area that you can farm runes with no interaction. There's an area where spectral soldiers spawn and fight the enemies there. They just keep respawning and you get a buttload of runes 😁
So... You become immortal. Get the most powerful spell in your hand and... *Drink tea* ...didn't run ever?

I'm beginning to realize that he isn't saying the game is broken, he is declaring that he has found the true way to play.
Your description of the public reactions to Elden Ring is very accurate. I have a circle of friends who love Elden Ring while being extremely frustrated by bugs in the game. I personally am fairly neutral about it. I feel like that group, and myself, are the entire middle ground when I look anywhere on the internet for anyone's reactions to the game or discussion about it. And this is a group of about half a dozen people in a population of millions of gamers who know about the game, possibly bilions.
Also you should cover exploits for Sifu, it came out not long before Elden Ring and got a lot of "this game is hard but fair" positive critique, and the devs have already started patching out exploits, so I bet you can find some they haven't fixed yet!
Game Journalists: "eLdEn rInG nEeDs aN eAsY mOdE"
Spiff: "So anyway, I started blasting."
I am bad at videogames, but if I ever buy Elden Ring on my ps4 (standard cus no stores have pro in stock for some reason) I will drill the skills into my head. Yes, I already bought the drill
Watching this 2 years later, great vid, criminal you didnt make that much elden ring content
Going back and watching this it made me realise how bad the boulder farm really is
especially when all those little goblins near the gargoyle are easily staggered by any big weapon and are worth 1-1.4k runes each. only killing the ones that travel alone will net you almost 20k runes and can be done in like 5 minutes.
Two things, the boulder farm is easier with your horse and there's a second one time "farm" with a huge dragon just laying there and a few smaller dragons walking around, if you get a weapon with bleed you'll kill the big one in a minute, which kills all the smaller ones at the same time, netting you a huge amount of runes
yea the heck is with that? Did From actually put that there just for us to farm money? Is there even an actual boss fight with the huge drgn? I thought it was a static landscape piece at first.
@@kyltredragmire4939 It's clearly intended for you to kill the smaller dragons around him, as each killed takes away about 1/4 of his health. Only can be done once, gives you about 5 dragon hearts and a lot of runes though so it's worth it I think. If bleed works, that would be an easy way to cheese it I guess.
@@echomjp dont the babies respawn for 3.5k a pop? I havebt killed it yet because it doesnt fight back lol id feel kind of bad about putting him into extinction for sleeping lol
@@magicbufo4277 I don't know if they respawn, but there did seem to be more than the 4 I needed to kill to make him and all of the dragons around him die. They all are red-eyed variants that did a lot of damage, but also could only really walk I guess. As far as feeling bad goes - well, just gotta weigh if those dragon hearts are worth it I guess.
@@echomjp maybe on my second playthrough, currently im only doing melee and dont really use any dragon attacks or magic but who knows ive almost softcapped my main skills so i may play around with the dark arts some towards end game

Why wait for the hype to die down?

19:25 I really don’t know where spiff got the idea that comet azur somehow counts as a stonedigger spell, when it’s a primeval spell
yeah i farmed 1 up and +12'd it only to realize it does less damage than my meteorite staff
he knows just enough about the game to break it lol, sometimes that works out just fine and sometimes it means pain for those who know the game more intimately as we watch him make things harder for himself
however if anyone needs a good staff for this, theres one at the town of sorcery i believe that buffs all sorcery damage at the cost of more fp
Damn, you broke it already?!
