the whole 25th anniversary cast (aside from nick jonas because he’s awful. and matt lucas, just because i hate matt lucas) should have reprised their roles in the movie
@@icturner23 At the time we booked the tickets they were incredibly expensive but as huge Les Mis fans we decided that if we didn’t go we would regret it for the rest of our lives. One of those lifetime experience things that you should never turn down. And we thank god every time we see any part of Les Mis these days that we were there for the 25th anniversary. As well as Norm and of course Alfie Bow, who also blew our minds, a highlight was when Ramon Karimloo as Enjolras sang his first line, my wife and I looked at each other both with mouths open. Fantastic concert.
@@brianappleby5112I’ve watched it on Amazon prime at least 15 times this year lol i am so jealous. Out of curiosity, how much were the tickets? I think I would donate a kidney to have seen it 😂
I can't listen to him sing this song without tears coming to my eyes. His voice is like velvet. His control and precision is astounding. I have listened to this at least 100 times and will never tire of it.
I've heard and seen about five different Javerts. And he's the absolute best. It's such a gorgeous song anyway....but his voice is also a beautiful fit. Because of the timbre of his baritone. LIke BUTTAH!!
He synchronises words better than any other that played this role. He makes it sound as a proper song, not a song in musical. He says each letter at the correct fraction of the second. Amazing.
He gives it more sense of purpose, Javert's narcissism is on full display, he sees what he believes to be his admirable qualities in the stars, its something you don't really pick up in a lot of versions.
I love love the lyrics of Stars of Les Miserables musical.the genius of Herbert Kretzmer. I love love Les Miserables musical. Thankyou sir Herbert Kretzmer for a prophetic wording of Stars. Thankyou.
Very good Phantom. I don't think people realize how much someone has to adapt Phantom, on paper it's just so cheesy, whoever plays the Phantom is entirely responsible for giving the character life.
Norm Lewis and Philip Quast are the best - they had both the vocal power, and the sheer physical stature. Put them in uniforms and give them sideburns, and they both look exactly like how you'd imagine a pair of 19th century French gendarmes would. Big, gruff, and imposing.
Please tell me if anyone else does notice that the speed of the song seemed rushed?.. I have seen Norm Lewis many times, and this seemed like it was at 150% speed???
While I prefer Quast's interpretation if I was to listen to the whole musical. I cannot deny that Lewis sings this song so beautifully that it was more pleasing to the ear than Quast, even if Quast's performance is also astounding to listen to.
He of course hits all the notes right and does it well! He rush's though. Just sing the lyrics. Lacks Phillip Quast's passion. Yes I know this is a not in the character just siging the song version.
He should’ve played Javert in the movie. I will die on this hill.
Absolutely, they went for the big name actor Crowe but he didn’t have Norms voice.
the whole 25th anniversary cast (aside from nick jonas because he’s awful. and matt lucas, just because i hate matt lucas) should have reprised their roles in the movie
I would have settled for his voice over Russell Crowe’s
I agree
Both Javert and Valjean are dreadfully miscast in the movie.
the greatest javert ever...and the most humble man i've gotten to chat with
Jesus loves you ❤️
Although I respect your answer,I think Phillip Quast is best.

Saw him sing this live at Les Miserables 25th anniversary concert, he brought the house down just brilliant!
lucky you!
Very nice!
You were so lucky to be at that. I’ve listened to the whole performance hundreds of times.

Fantastic performance. The lyrics to this song are so beautifully crafted to the life of a policeman.
Between Norm's performance and Philip Quast's 10th anniversary performance, I'm torn. Love them both
i prefer norm, but quast does it pretty well too.
Maybe one of the best Javerts, I have to say. His voice is wide and with body and presence
Absolute favorite Javert. I can't listen to Norm Lewis without getting goosebumps.

Божественное исполнение. Рыдаю! Это так грустно.
I like what lightness he brings to Javert, something young and idealistic, off to save the world from a bad guy -- and finding meaning in it.
His diction is great love it
Great version. Bravo!
He still sounds as incredible now as he did then
Wow, the way he says "Stars" at 1:01 is my favorite of any version, he captures the emotion so well!! His voice is amazing :D
Yes!
His voice is amazing. That little smile at the end is adorable.
He and Phillip are the best Javerts who ever played the role. I'm looking forward to seeing Paulo Szot (Tony winner) singing this role one day!

The best Javert ever to play it! Saw him in high school for the revival and have followed him ever since. Immaculate voice. 😊❤

Russel Crowe better
@@hiddentrade5905 that is debatable.

Russel Crowe did good to me
Yep! 100%
Saw him on the big screen In the movie theater for the 25 anniversary celebration what a great show

Norm for Washington in Hamilton. His kind, deep, string voice would be perfect
yes! That would be amazing
starting a Gofundme to make him Hades in Hadestown
Now this is THE absolute perfection! Norm Lewis is the best Javert I have ever seen or heard! He will forever be THE Javert for me!
Wow, the voice though..
Probably the most nuanced portrayal of Javert. My favorite.
Outstanding. Spine-tingling!
I saw Norm as Javert 4 times. Others played him and were good...but Norm Lewis for me WAS Javert. Outstanding
The best Javert...EVER! This is my favorite Les Mis song.
Beautiful and powerful voice. I’m going to see Les Mis in the West End for the first time in December :)
The Absolutely Best of bests.
I love his voice. ❤
Swooning here
That VOICE.
Amazing!
What a voice 🥰 Can’t wait to see him as the Phantom later this month.
He embodies this personality that every righteous character of light in every story has love him for this role!
He would be an unbelievable Phantom too…
He was. 2014-2015 on Broadway.
Robert G was the first African American to play the Phantom norm Lewis was the second to don the mask.
Very good Phantom. I don't think people realize how much someone has to adapt Phantom, on paper it's just so cheesy, whoever plays the Phantom is entirely responsible for giving the character life.
@@martinpatrick9915 Robert G only played him in Hollywood, Norm was the first to play him on Broadway
The best Javert, always
Now that is how you end a song, wow wow wow!!!
Seeing him in private concert at a theatre in raleigh this winter!
spectacular! love his acting. voice, presence
so good
my Favorite song of his...
I saw him in Les Miserables London 2011- very good but Quast my favourite.
Yes! A great singer!

Absolutely outstanding voice. So glad I found him!
Just WOW !!!
Godlike!

❤❤❤❤
I so agree with the previous comment
he is the best javert in my opinion
Biggest fan off les miserables is samantha barks my favourite she is fantastic and killed that song on my own l sing it in drama
❤
Next favourite after (sorry) - Philip Quast

It is rushed a bit, and the ending note is a bit shorter, probably to fit a precise time slot in the program.
I can't stand how much I can hear this.........
He dis amazingly. I love this song and Javert so much so I'm very picky about it being performed.
While I prefer Quast's interpretation if I was to listen to the whole musical. I cannot deny that Lewis sings this song so beautifully that it was more pleasing to the ear than Quast, even if Quast's performance is also astounding to listen to.
This is me, when a mosquito is in my bedroom.
100%
Is he American? I’ve never heard him pronounce ‘multitudes’ in such an American way before.
Yes he is from Florida
While Norman is undoubtably excellent singing this Philip Quast just edged it for me.
Quast may be your favorite, which is more than fine. But, he doesn't sing this nearly as well as Norm.
God
Jesus loves you ❤️
