@@MrZeeweee Besides the Nitro tracks that are from Mario Kart 8 which will be Retro tracks in the new Mario Kart game will have the antigravity mechanic.
Mario Kart Tour also introduced routes. Also, we're likely to get a nitro track that is based on Super Mario Bros Wonder. That would be some good rep. I hope we get a Mario Odyssey-themed track as well.
Personally I could see effects from the Mario movie working really well…antigravity allowing you to skim over the water, split paths that you can transition to and from at certain points, deactivating antigravity upside down on purpose to glide… stuff like that.
First things first: I don’t think Wonder Effects will be the gimmick for the next game. No other Mario Kart had a Super Mario game’s main gimmick as *its* main gimmick. Secondly: I genuinely hope Nintendo keeps the multiple route gimmick from Tour, (or 8DX??) it’s such a unique mechanic and I hope they bring it back for nitro courses in later games
Not a BIG gimmick but a cool feature Coins no longer increase your speed, but collecting 20 (new coin cap) will give you a free mushroom boost activated by pressing down on the left stick.
For me personally I think it would be amazing if the next Mario Kart had a Crash Team Racing style story mode with hub worlds that had challenges and stuff and could access each cup (hub 1 could be first cup for nitros and then retros unlock after clearing the nitros, plus some Mario Kart DS style boss race to finish each hub world) from the hub world. I think that should be the main gimmick. That and I'd like to see some new items and I'd like to see a map maker included as well!
I think it would be cool if the gimmick wasn’t driving based, but gameplay based. One way this can work is perks There can be unique perks you can equip to do things such as: - increase the explosion radius of bombs - give you more of a speed boost from coins - increase your base stats - increase probabilities of pulling certain items - add an extra charge to certain items, like a boomerang flower - make enemy racers lose more coins from you - and much more

Also in the thumbnail(also seen at 0:23), we see Wapeach, and it would be cool to see her “debut” in MKX. And why not bring back boss fights, frenzies and uh, “dou-ble dashing” while we’re at it? That way, we’d have the gimmick of every single game in MKX.
It seems almost everyone is predicting the Wonder effect for the next MarioKart… which is the one way I can guarantee that it won’t even be in the game. Nintendo always does the unexpected

I think it might consist of the drilling under the ground, which was originally going to be Mario Kart 8's gimmick.
I want the next one to be based around the recent titles with character specific abilities like Suction shot or Jaxi.
