- Cars 2 was a very poorly received movie, but that didn't stop Disney Interactive making a tie-in video game. But weirdly enough, it's actually pretty good! Let's find out why! And also take a look at it's other versions too

The whole Queen only being playable in race mode isn't really censorship. It's more like a countermeasure. The Queen is the only DLC in the game that's free, so to balance it out (sadly) it's only available in the one race mode.

Oh man… I had the Wii version growing up and I do NOT remember it looking THAT bad.
I somehow didn't even know that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions had such good graphics in comparison to the Wii version until I saw this video (I grew up with the Wii version as well)
I Played it my whole life and was mad at console version having better graphics and sounds.

I have the wii version and have recently played it, its graphics aren't that atrocious. It shows its age but not to an horrendous degree
Sally wasn't in the cars 2 game because up until a few years ago EA had an exclusive license on porsches. If you look at racing games of that time period you'll always see RUFs which are very similar but technically counts as completely different cars.

Cars 2 is my favorite of the trilogy. Is it a particularly well written movie? Not really, but it is by far the most entertaining. I just love how absurd it is and it is so unintentionally hilarious. They gave Mater a machine gun, what more could you ask for in life? Wasabi ice cream has become a inside joke between me and my brother
People hated the movie bc Pixar set a standard in making films that tell a great story and when this film didn’t live up for that people were upset

The thing that jumps out at me 1st when it comes to cars as a racing game is how much personality is in each car. A lot of racing games don't pick up a lot of traction because every racer is hidden inside their car meaning you can't see their fun taunts when they do a trick.
Meanwhile in Cars, the majority of characters are recognizable with fun personalities that are on full display because...they're literally the cars themselves lmao. Not only that but the backwards driving mechanic not only serves as a great reference to the movies and meshes well with the rest of the mechanics but also allows you to see your car's face way more often. How is a movie license tie-in game _this smart?!_
I love Cars 2 and I'm dying on the hill that it's the most overhated film of all time. The game is just as great. I had the Wii version, and it was one of the only video games I had for part of my childhood, and I loved getting to play it. I still think it holds up well and is probably the most comprehensive Cars game to date.
Is mater actually annoying though? I never found him annoying in the slightest. He's actually quite a funny character. People just like to complain about nothin

He is to me and most people, he was supposed to be a comedic relief that makes an appearance a few times but making him a main character in cars 2 was a no no because his shtick of being dumb wears out very fast

Alright, I’ve got to say it because you’re one of the only channels I’ve seen mention this game: this was my Budokai Tenkaichi.
As in, 7 year old me spent *days* on my Nintendo Wii grinding the same levels on this game (because I didn’t know how story progression worked lol), playing Mr Mqueen on the airport and Italy track to find all the shortcuts , failing the damn tutorial because I couldn’t figure out how to jump. Baby me was a diehard Cars fan, and seeing this game makes me so happy so thank you!

And if you thought that amount of characters in Cars 2 TVG on Xbox was huge, wait till you see modded amount of characters, it's just mindblowing.
What's even more mindblowing, is that modders are basically on their way to port Xbox 360 graphics to PC port. It's not without it's flaws and pretty early, but very close to being possible.

Oh now you got me. This is literally one of my favorite games of all time, I've been trying to reverse the PS3 and Arcade builds to run natively on PC.. AAAAGH

How did i miss this when the movie came out?? I saw this movie twice at 6-7 years old and loved it… but I somehow never found this or paid attention to it at any store. I got the Cars 3 game so it makes up for it but I would’ve definitely bought the Xbox version of Cars 2 and enjoyed it day one

The PC port was apparently made by an obscure Chinese company that Disney bought for porting purposes (also it's less optimized, meaning emulating the Wii version, or even playing on the Wii, is the better option). Also, there's a 3DS version which, from what I've heard, is basically the DS version but slightly better.
I used to play this on my Wii all the time when I was a kid. I tough I was the only one who loved the game, but im not alone :)

Cars 2 was like one of the best chilhood games but at the same time was very unpopular. I can also remember how much I have been enjoying playing Sonic Riders. It is still strange for me why the game never got popular even among Sonic fans
As someone who played the multiplayer split screen with my brother and cousins, this game is an absolute blast! We haven't played it in years as time has gone by and all, but it likely will always be our favorite game to play together.
For now, we'll sadly sitck to Injustice 2.

I remember playing this game all the time on the PlayStation. I had lots of fun with the races and missions. Also just loved how the car you choose would show up in the cutscenes, so you could get some pretty funny ones

For some reason, Disney Infinity always had a proper PC port based on the full versions and not the Wii version which varies mostly in collectable locations.
I remember watching a video about the cars 2 game with a song that plays in those ozempic ads except it was the real song
I got this on the Wii U. It was incredible. There was a 2 person hunter style mode where you were in an open world map and you had to kill the other player with various weapon drops you could find. It was very much entertaining

Arena and Disruptor are some of the best experiences in the whole game
To credit on pc we have a modding community now that puts alot cool thing on the pc version like ported over arcade versions of the characters custom characters and other things so the pc version has stept up its game

I had a blast playing this game on the ps3 when I was younger. I remember always wanting to buy one of the dlc characters, cause they had cool looking names in the garage, and I accidentally bought one by just looking at it, and pressing a few buttons. Unfortunately, I accidentally got like the lamest dlc. My parents weren’t TOO mad. There is also another reason to play the pc version: It has gained a rather large modding community overtime, and the mods are very well made nowadays. There’s several other characters that have been added with their own voice lines and models, and one guy even added an extra clearance level.

I don't know how people find Mater 'annoying' in Cars 2. If you ask me, I feel like Cars 2 expands on Mater as a character.
Sure, we had the Mater's Tall Tale shorts, but those are just SHORTS, 3-7 minutes of Mater's light-hearted goofiness we've known since the first movie.
Had Paul Newman's passing NOT skewed things over, I don't know if they would have had the opportunity to expand on Mater the way the final cut did.

Cars: the video game, was my childhood. I can’t remember a time in my childhood where I didn’t have that game. I would play that game religiously, and for some reason, I couldn’t ever complete THAT GOD FORSAKEN TRACTOR TIPPING LEVEL WHERE YOU GET CHASED BY FRANK. But other than that, I loved exploring radiator springs as my favorite childhood character. And also I loved abusing Mack’s trailer to completely stop the flow of traffic in radiator springs.

My copy of cars 2 on xbox 360 has a little label on the top right saying the box is recyclable like why? I would never recycle this game
I think you should get the PC version again. There's a young modding scene starting to form, and I think it might be worth a video. There's even character mods, which means you can re-add all the DLC, and MORE. As for texture mods, there's currently one early mod that implements a few of the original HD textures on maps. To get more than that though, this game NEEDS to attract mod developers.

Omg I had a DVD of the PC port, and probably it was even without any cutscenes, because I assume it was a pirated disc or something like that hah.

Cars 2 the Video Game in concept could've just been a generic Mario Kart clone for the kiddies to get after seeing the movie for quick bucks but it did the opposite and turned out to be something that's a worthy alternative to Mario Kart for the whole family. I have the Wii version and it's my most played third party game on the console, I have fond memories of this one, big shame the PC version is just the Wii version upscaled given by the outsourced porting team's low effort, but hey at least there's the Arcade one which is an Xbox 360 hybrid and should've been the PC version.
I actually still have this game downloaded on the depths of my old PS3 i remember playing it a lot as a kid, and not gonna lie, playing it again, i haven't gotten that much rusty.

This was a fun game and yeah the PC graphics are terrible. although you can add the DLC characters with mods which I might do if I buy Cars 2 on PC. I also liked with battle races, attack, survival and hunter is that you can customize your weapon loadouts. That was one thing I didn't like about Cars 3 was a lackluster roster and no DLC for it.
In my opinion the console version of the cars 2 game could’ve been better if it had a story mode that took you through the events of the movie like the DS version does
I still don't get why mater is called hook in the german version. Like not even the german word for hook but literally just "hook". Why would they change his name
