I miss the Oldskool scrap yards like that.. Used to love clambering around them as a kid while my dad got bits for his old motors. Then i got quite a few mk1/2 golf bits before those type of places became a thing of the past around these parts
I brought an astra 1.6 sxi sport hatch 58 plate a few months ago. Love the car, it has the xp kit, 70k miles. I work on it myself. Recently put on centre silencer delete which now it pops and crackles. Nice to see someone else with one of these. Good luck with it mate.
Been watching your channel for years and always loved your vids, one thing I think the car scene don’t show enough is the cars built on a drive or built on a budget , I’d love a series from you in which you give a platform for the lads who put the work in , would be a good series for the channel mate as most lads who watch your vids are working full time and just build what they can when they can , either way your a legend mate 🫡
There is a way to open the boot from the inside there’s a little round plastic cover on the trim where the boot is latch take it off and use a flat head screw driver to turn it and it will open has it in my 4 door h so should be same on yours.
Mate I have the same car just not sxi on a 09 plate and watching you is pushing me to do all the job my self on it thanks so much for the inspiration and the push
If you do end up doing the head gasket make sure you send the head to the engine shop to have it skimmed. With the block being steel and the head being alloy they warp at different temperatures and by having the head skimmed will ensure a better seal to the block
In the boot of those Astra's you can go inside the car, look at the location of where the mechanism goes, and ok mine especially there is a little slot you can put a flat head screw driver and turn like a key, it pops the boot open in the case of a dead battery lol
Hi Jesse great content hopefully the Astra won’t be too bad. I used to have the earlier model of Astra a T Reg 1999 good little car it was very reliable. Looking forward in what happens next 😀👍
My Corsa vxr had the same issue with the brakes I lost braking efficiency on the rear o/s I got a second hand abs pump all the numbers matched up so it was plug and play it should be the same for the astra just check that the coolant bottle doesn't leak as for the timming chain if you decide to replace don't buy a cheap one cos a few thousand miles later that will be noisy again hope this helps 👍
Pleased to watch your channel mate, these astra actually are good looking cars, Specially with Xp Kit, Keep the content coming on the mk5 Astra All the best
Even if u don't wanna put a vxr lump in it, what about the 1.6 NA or 1.8 NA engine of the same astra generation, they have the same gearbox and set up I'm pretty sure but just a little more nippy for a daily?
It'll get better with every mile you do. I have had a few MK5 Astra (Still have two) and for the cost of them, they are a good car. Keep the videos coming
Rear axal is not as bad to do as it is meant to be m8.i did 1 last year and it took not long to do .i did the rear axal on my mk1 seat leon and it was much harder.vauxhalls r so much siperler to work on.have fun doing it👍
Jesse love the videos and that Astra GTC. I would reccomend that you get a new floor since i can see its never had mats and theres a hole on the drivers side. P.S Get a set of Bosch wiper blades :D
I hope you get it going , I got a 5 door astra 2007 just changed the cloth seats to leather and now its caused a airbag light on the dash nothing ever goes right with simple swop overs with these cars .
Thats pretty decent for the MOT, just common astra stuff, rear axle bushes are quiet easy, if you have a drill with chisel action it makes works a lot easier.
The boot switch on my 2006 Astra MK5 malfunctioned, and the garage charged me £200 to repair it, lol. The brakes on the passenger side of my Astra had issues similar to yours; the car would veer to one side when I applied the brakes. I didn't address the brake problem before I crashed the car, although the crash wasn't related to the brake issue.
A little trick if you open the fuel flap there should a plastic tool on it that actually opens the boot from the inside and im enjoying the channel because im a vauxhall nut 😅
I didn’t realise you was a local lad been watching you for a while spent many Saturday mornings at looms getting parts for my cars back in the day used to find some gems
I’ve got 2 spare bootlids if u need boot wireing or the chrome trim can have for free also have boot locks 2 of them one is off a 2009 and others off a 2010 and I’m not far from you
I was qouted £400.00 at a garage to repair a Corsa ABS pump, got a reconditioned one off ebay for £150.00, just had to send them my old one when i had installed the new one.
AVS vauxhall breakers Nottingham mate for anything vauxhall I've used them for over 10yrs there top blokes down there and they are only behind the showcase cinema 👍
Even my mum knows about abs pump fails.... new one is about 8000 squid... but plenty of folk now refurbing em... The one died on her corsa d ... It made for some interesting braking... or none at all... especially turning fun vid we all smiling.. N x
STOP!!!!! Minors are definitely NOT advisories. They are to be addressed as soon as possible, “Repair Immediately”. Failing to do so would mean you are not maintaining your car to the required standard which in the case of the annual MOT is the minimum standard.
I wasn’t referring to the Dangerous defects which you addressed responsibly by leaving the car at the garage, but the comment at 16.30 that Minors are just Advisories. It’s a poor choice of words in my opinion and whist Minor defects are not Dangerous defects, they are anything but minor.
Absolutely agree. Serious would have been more accurate to the severity, with Dangerous above and Advisory below. I know form first hand experience that this gives the wrong impression to the public

All depends, sometimes you can just eyeball it if you have decades of experience.
Checks lights and washers it's ready for mot 😂😂
😂 and one of them is misted up
Sell it to ya old mate Cockwood, let him try and flip it like that nail of a Bora he bought. Yh that series didn’t go well did it 😂

These 3 door Astra were actually really nice looking 👀 :-) will look fab when you have done it all ❤
Brilliant channel and work bud 👍🏻👍🏻. Albert looms omg mate brings back memories of me and my dad going there
a full engine rebuild would be cool to watch, i mean who doesn't like watching full engine tear downs and rebuilds.
Did you have a abs light on for the failed pump? I have a Corsa d same symptoms

Little tip when pouring oil, pour it sideways that way you don’t get the glug glug and make a mess 👍 loving the Vauxhall videos bud
Another Best Vlogs ever 👌
Shoutout to Albert Looms for being awesome, genuinely one of the best breakers yards in the country

Nice one Jesse 👌😮
You should get the vxr interior kit and body kit
What jump starter is that ? Is it any good ?
👍👍good result

at 16:10 whats the song in the back ground
I honestly couldn’t tell you just used one of a website I have a license for 😅
@JesseCollingham will probably randomly find it. Also great video
@@PaverickFA18elisa rose body moving. Must hear it 10 times a day on the garage radio 😂
Failed m.o.t yesterday
I keep looking for the link for the dashcam, so far Ive found nothing, can you tell me where abouts it is please matey.?
In the video description man 🙌🏼
Just had to get my Vectra bs abs pump rebuilt. I used ECU testing. My fault was electrical, I would lose the speedo completely.
wow...what a banging little runner for 150 squid mate. As a few other said...get it all fixed and a wrap would look insane ;D
Hello hello hello, keep up the good work mate love watching the vids
Im always excited for a new video of yours ❤
Appreciate it man!
I just want to know the wrap on this😂. Keep it up mate. Working on cars is always fun even how frustrating it is sometimes. Have a nice week💪🏻
Get poly bushes for the rear axle, might as well do the pair
I was qouted £400.00 at a garage to repair a Corsa ABS pump, got a reconditioned one off ebay for £150.00, just had to send them my old one when i had installed the new one.
is that scrapyard loomes's in derby
Good result
Can't argue with that result . I've always thought these mark Astras were pretty good looking cars. Interested to see where you take it 👍
AVS vauxhall breakers Nottingham mate for anything vauxhall I've used them for over 10yrs there top blokes down there and they are only behind the showcase cinema 👍
Bro do a full vxr swap seats bumpers engine!
I'd just put a new engine in it for the sake of the miles on that one and they are cheap and easy to do
Not much viewing content in that is there though
Yeah to be fair Ive not seen a z14 with that many miles on it before 😂
what are you smoking 😂 how is swapping an engine "not content"
Could get a new engine strip it clean it up service it take old engine out give engine bay a clean …. Plenty of content to be made surely
@@adam.677 your mum
I think a fiesta mk6 ST would be a better project that many younger gen can relate to just an idea
Nice video 🙏🏽
Thought I'd recognised the scrap yard in the first video I only live about 40 mins away crazy lol
Is it k swappable 🤔
10:44 Timing belt squeal on a car with a timing chain???😂😅😅
It's not a squeal it rattles because it's stretched they still run forever like that anyway
I meant aux belt ahah
@@JesseCollingham 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@JesseCollingham i knew what you meant
For a £150 Astra that's an absolute result.
send me the link I will teach them lesson @mightywatcher5894

😂😂🙌🙌 looms go one Jessie
Let's goooo jesse
The Chain could be the problem with the car cuz its longer than normal so the timing keeps going of more and more...
Oil smell might have just been fresh oil spilled on the exhaust manifold
Get a b204 swapped into it. More content for the channel, more fun to drive after and not actually expensive job
You’d be better off putting a 1.6 or 1.8 in it tbh, still fairly economical but much more reliable than the 1.4 with a bit more power too
Where is the next video pal been waiting weeks now
Just got rid of my civic ep3 and bought a vauxhall astra gtc turbo 12 plate
👌 top video
I reckon an astra VXR would be a good car on this channel
Also timing belt squeal?? 🤣🤣🤣
Aux** 🤣
No point putting an engine in it as il guarantee that will have an engine issue too .
Slap the dash cam in the civic 😂😂😂
🔥🔥
jessie why u wearing your expensive kicks while working on that thing man?????
Put a z20let in it
Jessie l would get the spare engine on facebook
Sum mot check 👍🏻🤣
Ur cars not taxed
How do you want me to tax it without an mot 🤔
Just so people know it’s over £250 for just the front and rear camera
I own a car but no licence 😂
👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻❤️

@paulas2610 to get fair the word minor speaks for itself, to me that’s something that’s not urgent
Absolutely agree. Serious would have been more accurate to the severity, with Dangerous above and Advisory below. I know form first hand experience that this gives the wrong impression to the public
Don’t own a car or a license and fully qualified in motorsport believe it or not
Failed Mot
Reg bulb is a fail not an advisory. I think you need to calm the hell down.your vids are all over the place like your on speed
You walking 3 steps forward and 2 back is the most annoying thing known to man
