Always a pleasure to see someone fix something and save stuff from the backyard figuring out along the way the thing has significant life left in it. This is the real green thing instead of throwing away stuff and buy new when someone faces the first issue.
Excellent video Jesse, credit for doing the job yourself. Great set of lads letting you use the ramp and giving you advise, you must have learnt loads!! Looking forward to the modifications now!!
Result, and massive sense of achievement no doubt! I can honestly say that watching your videos has spurred me into becoming braver with tackling jobs on my own cars. I think there's a lot of satisfaction to be gained from keeping an older car running and in good condition
Fair play Jesse for taking the big steps and getting involved in them types of jobs! Only way anyone ever learns. Great to see the achievement at the end of the video, can see the channel growing fast mate!💯
After Scouting Around the UA-cam globe I came across your channel And I am really liking the content I have owned mini Vauxhalls of the past 20 plus years, and I’ve never seen an EcoTec engine that I’ve managed to blow up yet longest you put oil and the water in them they will go forever condensation issue is with All eco-Tech engines and many times, it’s been diagnosed oh you gotta do with this problem is just once a week, take it out for a good run out timing chains I had a Vauxhall Corsa 1 litre that timing chain rattled for three years and he had over 100,000 miles on it and it was still going strong wouldn’t die Anyway, any, who keep up the good work
I’ve always wanted to see a little more of the in depth from you Jesse, spot on! I’m not a regular watcher but I’m subscribed for certain 👌 by the way 16:58 - please be careful about putting your ratchets across the terminals like that, it makes me uneasy! 😂 dont wanna blow a fuse, or 20!
Found this channel back in the VXR days, and to see how far you’ve came with your mechanical skillset without going through an apprenticeship/training is great to see, as a fully qualified mechanic myself i can safely say that your willingness to get stuck in and your awareness to at least wanting someone there to guide you when needed will get you real far🤝🏻 Massive props man, that was a job well done👏🏼
Another good video Jesse. Fair play to you for cracking on and having a go on your own. Seems like a nice honest decent garage too letting you use there ramp and giving you helping hand here and there. Nice job mate and it sounds so much better too 👍👍👍
Good thing you replaced timing chain early! The engine should bought full power back again, so much noticeble faster with corrected timing. That possibly explain why you had EML on because engline cycle isnt corrected due timing is off as allow compression cycle ruined as possibly unburnt fuel dumped into exhaust. (Well possible same as leaky manifold?)
The feeling ya get when ya fix something ya self is awesome I have a 23 year old rav 4 just done bearing and lower ball joints after a clutch job like your astra is its nice try and save em
I love the feeling of fixing something too its very rewarding. I prefer to work on 2 stroke equipment as I'm quite good with them. Love old Crossers like yz and cr and old trials bikes like the ty,s
Great video mate. The mk5 astra was the first car I ever really modified. It was a 2.0l turbo sri in ultra blue. It was an absolute beast when I'd finished with it. Wish I hadn't sold it really. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this car, Have fun with it man.
Well done mate good job only thing is don’t put tools on the battery as could make contact with both terminals and if u have a noise like that in the future try spaying some WD40 around the 2 surfaces to see if the engine note changes that will tell u if u have a leak
Get in Jesse glad your cracking on doing bits keep pushing buddy and doing stuff like this lose the number plate replacement bulbs not worth the time it takes you to film but getting stuck in and doing bits like this is huge progress and will help you go on to even bigger things!!! You’ve got this pal 💪🏼
Mate I definitely feel your pain with the manifold mine had nuts that where 100% done I had to hammer them off then I found that the manifold was held on at the bottom with a thick steel cable I gave up in the end trying to remove it and just replaced the bolts in the engine block
new to the videos seen a few in the past but subscribed recently and really enjoying them good job with the car cant wait to see what mods you do to the Astra
Well done Jesse! But i have a question. So i have an Astra myself and i was wondering if you could look into installing an engine coolant temp gauge or maybe get the temp to be permanetly on the little screen? That would be awesome because i'd like to have something like that in my own car as well, especially if you can get it permanetly on the screen so you dont have to click trough the menu every single time. Thanks already!
just subscribed to you. just started doing a similar thing with a corsa c completely learning from scratch. im from donny cant find scrap yard where you can just walk on and get bits. where is the one you went to on other videos only about half hour from me bolsover so gonna make a list and go.cheers
Tell you what bro you’ve come along way in past couple years, I been watching on and off since the mighty black corsa back in the day, and growing as a car enthusiast along side ya, keep up the good work Jesse mate you’re doing great, fuck what the rest of em think
Jessie the car garage you took your car t use the ramp to try and stop that nasty rattling noise you should go and work with them guys full time they have thought you more about fixing your car then you thought well done young man you really deserve to have your own fully commercial car garage with your own set of ramps then you could work on all of your own cars in the dry out of the wet and windy weather and you would have more commercial space for equipment and deliveries and more peace and quiet and brilliant lighting to work in out the way of your tools been stolen off your drive way and you could take on younger car apprentices to learn how to fix cars
well done fella 👍👍my corsa c has the same manifold on as that one, and needs to come off cos the oil filter housing needs a new seal as its leaking a bit at the bottom, not looking forward to doing it.
Loads better bro.. well done 👍🏻.. awesome content once again lad.. can’t wait see it modded.. in my head I’ve already modded it lol 😂 .. I know exactly what I’d do to it
Right Jesse has 70k subs and the Astra series has views like unreal compared to previous videos. He just needs to build on this now and not let it fall off, maybe get rid now and change to a VXR or something, yes money but this is the opportunity for Jesse to kill it and actually finally hit 100k and be more established. Theres no way he can just cock this up and down a video installing wind deflectors.
Well done for doing the timing chain yourself, you may have got abit of advice off the lads at the garage but you still actually did all the work yourself. How long did it take you to do the timing chain mate?
@JesseCollingham not too bad, worse ones out there lol. I've seen loads of Vauxhalls going cheap due to chain rattle/head gasket issues. The next project will be a Vauxhall, hopefully be able to make a profit too 😀
Good lad jesse on doing the timing chain job yourself, keep going with tricky jobs and not been 100% on stuff it makes for good content and your honesty works wonders for the content, good luck lad 👍👍👍
If you struggle with a rounded allen screw try a slightly oversize torx bit and tap it on with a hammer if you have room it has worked for me in the past
Matt Armstrong in the making mate haha! Well done mate, i wouldn't know where to start on mechanics wise ill just stick to detailing cars haha! Keep the videos coming mate!
I said about the gasket being the suspect head gasket when you first started questioning it. This is why the expansion tank forms droplets on the inside.

Appreciate it man!
I did mine last year for the first time and it went perfect! It's always a great feeling when it all goes to plan. Well done 😁😁😁😁
Another good video Jesse. Fair play to you for cracking on and having a go on your own. Seems like a nice honest decent garage too letting you use there ramp and giving you helping hand here and there. Nice job mate and it sounds so much better too 👍👍👍
Great save Jesse . Fix , sell repeat 😊

The fact you did it yourself is brilliant! Enjoying this series
10:13 "that often swells and fucks up- eh, MESSES up"
Amazing work Jesse! She’s sounding so healthy!
The feeling ya get when ya fix something ya self is awesome I have a 23 year old rav 4 just done bearing and lower ball joints after a clutch job like your astra is its nice try and save em
Well done Jesse, boss work mate, proud of you, can't wait to see what plans you've got for this car❤️💪🤘🤟👌
I love the feeling of fixing something too its very rewarding. I prefer to work on 2 stroke equipment as I'm quite good with them. Love old Crossers like yz and cr and old trials bikes like the ty,s
Go in lad!! Even i was cheering towards the end of the video and its not even my car 😂😂😂
Great job Jesse! You've learnt and resolved new mechanical problems and your perseverance has paid off!. 😊
Perseverance and patience a Vauxhall needs, Smashed it mate!
Great video mate. The mk5 astra was the first car I ever really modified. It was a 2.0l turbo sri in ultra blue. It was an absolute beast when I'd finished with it. Wish I hadn't sold it really. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this car, Have fun with it man.
Well done mate , very good video and you show the stuff we want to see and not the entertainment shit. Keep it going you are a very good teacher.
Well done mate good job only thing is don’t put tools on the battery as could make contact with both terminals and if u have a noise like that in the future try spaying some WD40 around the 2 surfaces to see if the engine note changes that will tell u if u have a leak

You’ve got this pal 💪🏼
Great stuff. Interesting to hear that the timing cover gasket failure gets mixed up with HGF. And then the exhaust manifold gasket making that noise.
Love that you fixed it now, seriously cant wait to see what u got in mind in terms of modifications ❤
Big ups. All the effort on the Astra has been worth it 🖤
Mate I definitely feel your pain with the manifold mine had nuts that where 100% done I had to hammer them off then I found that the manifold was held on at the bottom with a thick steel cable I gave up in the end trying to remove it and just replaced the bolts in the engine block
new to the videos seen a few in the past but subscribed recently and really enjoying them good job with the car cant wait to see what mods you do to the Astra
Great to save cars that have years left in them , well done
Fantastic one Jesse top job on the timing chain and gasket 👍🏻👍🏻. Top job by the garage to lend you a lift and brains 👍🏻👍🏻
oh my god, oh my god!!! the joy in your voice after starting it up, awesome mate well played
Another cracking video Jesse. Best way to learn on cars like this. Well done to the guys at the garage for their generosity 👍🏻100K coming soon🤞🏻
Fair play lad, it's good to see some cracking effort and a cheap motor for you!
Im glad you listened in the last video as this was a massive improvement, very good 👌
Well done Jesse! But i have a question. I have a coolant guage on my astra h vxr . Every car should have 1 from the factory
Bloody top work man. Balls of steel
just subscribed to you. just started doing a similar thing with a corsa c completely learning from scratch. im from donny cant find scrap yard where you can just walk on and get bits. where is the one you went to on other videos only about half hour from me bolsover so gonna make a list and go.cheers
Thanks man! The scrapyard is called Albert looms in derby
Tell you what bro you’ve come along way in past couple years, I been watching on and off since the mighty black corsa back in the day, and growing as a car enthusiast along side ya, keep up the good work Jesse mate you’re doing great, fuck what the rest of em think
Hope you gave it some nice red coolant as cant tell the colour in the expansion bottle
Love the vid, 16:48. Watch those spanners on the battery!!!

Can’t thank woodborough garage enough
Mission accomplished well done others would have towed it to the scrapyard you stuck with it and got the job done 👍
Well done Jesse, you did a real good job, looks insanely complicated 🎉
Well done attempting that mate. Loving the videos
Great job buddy saving her from the scrappy the work has paid off 👍🏻
great job jesse onwards and upwards well done
Great video bud, I done the timing belt on my 2012 focus myself, it was a right pain but so glad I done it on my own.
Well done bud 👍
Man I’m loving this recent uploads Jesse keep up the grind
well done fella 👍👍my corsa c has the same manifold on as that one, and needs to come off cos the oil filter housing needs a new seal as its leaking a bit at the bottom, not looking forward to doing it.
Done few weeks ago, good luck on them mani bolts 😂
But tbh rather work on that then my volvo
Loads better bro.. well done 👍🏻.. awesome content once again lad.. can’t wait see it modded.. in my head I’ve already modded it lol 😂 .. I know exactly what I’d do to it
Epic repair Jesse. Hitchcock suspense levels but you got that bolt out in the end 😅

Well done dude ....keep the vids coming buddy
Well done for doing the timing chain yourself, you may have got abit of advice off the lads at the garage but you still actually did all the work yourself. How long did it take you to do the timing chain mate?
In all honesty it took me around 5/6 hours 😭
@JesseCollingham not too bad, worse ones out there lol. I've seen loads of Vauxhalls going cheap due to chain rattle/head gasket issues. The next project will be a Vauxhall, hopefully be able to make a profit too 😀
@@JesseCollinghamno way I had my timing belt and water pump done and took the bloke a hour outside my house. But the chain looked alot more work
Upload more often and you'll hit 100k in no time. You've got this!!
Fair play Jesse, you've come a long way 👍
Fair play to you having a go. It’s not an easy job. It’s great content. I suspected it may have jumped
Fair does mate for sorting the car out mechanically. Looking forward to the mods now 👊🔥
Might be just the exhaust mate but nothing wrong with doing the timing chain anyway for a piece of mind , nice work though having a go doing it
The mechanic was class ‘that seal often swells and fuc** up, erm messes up’ 🤣🤣🤣 top video pal love the content 🔥🔥
Definitely starting to become one of my favourite car channels. 🚗
Your doing a great job jesse
Sir! How did you persuade that garage to “allow” you to share their helpful facilities & the handy ramp???
They’re good lads!
Matt Armstrong in the making mate haha! Well done mate, i wouldn't know where to start on mechanics wise ill just stick to detailing cars haha! Keep the videos coming mate!

Great video mate!
Fair play for doing those jobs, I prefer these mechanical videos myself, good stuff
Good work mate!
Same thing happened with my corsa did the timing chain and it was still noisy. Turned out 1 or more of my hydrualic lifters were faulty
Well done bro!!! Much respect! 🫡 smashed it. Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻

Also brought hydro cleaning stuff b4 xmas and gotta say its amazing stuff keep up with the amazing videos
Bloody astra. I liked the corsa one but this one is very samey. Sorry to say. Now if this was an astra GTE then it would be very different.
I said about the gasket being the suspect head gasket when you first started questioning it. This is why the expansion tank forms droplets on the inside.
Brilliant video mate smashing it
10:15 :) love it
Subscribed, enjoyed this vid. Well done on saving her
Thank you!
Nice work mate
Good video bro 💯💯 very talented
