On the compression test. It should be done with full open throttle and also a good battery. If your foot wasn't down as much that could affect the result. The other thing.. You said you smelt fuel. You're supposed to remove the fuel pump fuse/relay and the ignition fuse/relay to prevent fuel entering the cylinders. If you left the fuel pump able to pump fuel and injectors able to run then fuel will enter the cylinders and increase compression.
Good to see this coming along but I would check those headlight bulbs as furious driving fitted them to his car but on their website they are not for road use
I changed my drivers side headlight bulb last year 1st time in 7 years Who knew there was a flap under the wheel arch great video Jesse Looking forward to the timing chain change 👍
You could of changed that abs pump for one from a scrap yard/breakers. You only need to have a numbers matching unit. I did it on my old one, numbers matching straight swap
Shocking to see so many people bitching at this video I’m just happy we’ve got content. Sometimes you have to use garages especially when you haven’t got tools and when it’s illegal to take the car away, ignore the hates man another top video and also all these garages are actually helping you and the channel out so I don’t get it as well as giving you reliable contacts for the future 🔥🔥
Your abs pump you would have been with taking the mechanical part off your new one and fire it on your abs module and it would still work, a scrappie told me that when i had get a new one from frying mine & he wasnt wrong
It's worth checking if the rocker cover is plastic on these. The X20 and Z20 engines have a plastic rocker cover and they warp over time causing rocker gaskets to 'fail'... It could be the same for this engine.
Just subscribed, like how you're honest and the vids are interesting and informative. When I think, my 61 plate BMW 330 Auto, owned since 2015 costs £200 per tyre and it needed one before xmas, then rns seized caliper last month costing £565 in total with new disc and rear pads, year before a Differential refurb costing £1k- I should just look for an old Astra SRI lol!
always check astras or corsa d of this age brake discs...clear sign of dead abs pump.. defo why this was scrapped given up on... seized calipers are normally stuck on..and clean the disc....or the wheel does not turn mayo in the oil is never a way to diagnose a head gasket...someone tried to tell us it was on of our 3year vaux vivaro vans led bulb is not I think an mot failure... do they have a check for brightness on an mot...? interesting one.. will ask my mum... upgrading to a HId light system is.... because they require headlamp washers even my mum knows that now...she is bit of a corsa d expert... fun vid as always N x
Check VVTs, change water pump and valve cover while you're at changing timing belt. I know it will cost much more, but worth putting money for the long term.
Common thing with vauxhalls is the abs pump, people told dealer only seals the fate on them unfortunately. The front drop links are made of chocolate too and are common. Looks a good example (off to watch the other videos on this now 😅)
I hope you do the timing chain at home, something abit more involved and interesting for you, the axle bushes would have been a good vid Aswell but obviously you let the garage do it so there done now.
You should link up with mat armstrong or try to rebuild a crash damaged .. it’s interesting content. I think it’s either western Chaplin style crazy builds or crash damage rebuilds which seem to hit the mark lately. Modifying has been done to the death now. Not hating just food for thought mate
Top video again bro🤌🏻..need to upload more man, too invested in these vids and it’s too long between videos😅😢…sounded like a diesel when you pulled up on drive🤦🏻♂️🤣
It's a shame you aren't actually trying things yourself considering it's a cheap non daily. Getting a garage to do most doesn't really invite the viewers compared to other channels, just my opinion not hating. Well done for what you're doing mind.
Some jobs aren’t worth the stress like that axel bush I literally don’t have the equipment to do it and I didn’t have much option as I couldn’t drive the car till it passed mot
Invest in the future of the channel by doing it yourself man. Look at the big dogs at how they're investing in equipment and gaining viewers, you can do it too! Taking everything to a garage and just changing bulbs won't be a future proof channel. Come on lad, step it up 💪
@@2strokelifestylei do get what he’s saying but what could I do when it’s failed it’s mot? I had no option but to leave the car there and I purposely asked the garage to not work on it till I got there, been awkward the last 2 weeks as I’ve been without the car but back on it now
No hate, but next time you do a compression test, you're supposed to cut the fuel ( remove fuel pump relay etc) your results will be affected otherwise
Could of bought a £20 abs pump and payed a garage £100 to re program it or better yet buy opcom and program yourself would of been way cheaper then a £300 bill at a ecu specialist.
I came across your videos after watching Matt Armstrong. Whilst i do like your videos I feel as though you're milking this head gasket, pt.3 and you're still going on about it...give it a rest. You repeat yourself 10 times on the same point..."easy mod, easy mod, easy mod"...show us then ffs
Fail MoT and insurance won’t pay out cos of them bulbs pal. If you kill someone in a crash you’ll end up doing time over no valid insurance. Seen it happen
Not sure where this channel is going really. Thought you were doing all these jobs yourself? Today I’ve learned how to change a lightbulb 🤔 No sorry I know how to do that.
I look forward to these videos! Really enjoying the series! Keep up the good work
Great video Jesse, keep up the good work 👌

You should disable the fuel pump and fully open the throttle when performing a compression test
I changed my drivers side headlight bulb last year 1st time in 7 years

You could of changed that abs pump for one from a scrap yard/breakers. You only need to have a numbers matching unit. I did it on my old one, numbers matching straight swap
But no guarantee that it works
yep fix the broken one...no way of testing one in a scapyard..lottery that..and the hassle fitting it to try it...@@johnash2204

Another Best Vlogs ever on the Vauxhall Astra 👌
What a massive result Jessie in MOT and changing headlight bulbs. Took me 5 hours to change my in a VW transporter 👎🏻. Fantastic one mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Yay! Thats where my Vectra B had its abs pump done
The doors are the same on my Renault Megane lights as went to get some from Halfords and they said I’ll need a lift to fit them but proved them wrong
Never thought I’d enjoy someone mess around with an Astra. Fair play mate! A trade up series would be cool to see on this channel

Hello mate. I have done this job without coding. All you have to do is get an ABS pump with exactly the same part no
always check astras or corsa d of this age brake discs...clear sign of dead abs pump..
defo why this was scrapped given up on...
seized calipers are normally stuck on..and clean the disc....or the wheel does not turn
mayo in the oil is never a way to diagnose a head gasket...someone tried to tell us it was on of our 3year vaux vivaro vans

Make sure you change the oil pump when you do the timing chain
Really liking this type of content Jess 👌👍

1.4 doesnt have vvt's mate
Are you doing a exhaust on this one

Will you change the coolant reservoir?
Great vid, lights look 👀 fab! Missed ya last week 😢
Don’t suppose you got a discount code for ecutesting?
I don’t unfortunately but give them a call and say you’re from my video 🙌🏼
Well done taking the jump from full time job to full time UA-cam
175psi is good, anything above 150 is good.
Just to correct you on the ABS terminology it stands for, A big shoe 😊

Wait until you change the sidelight bulbs then 😂
Oh god they are horrific 😂
Never swore so much in all my life😂😅…
Trouble is the canbus they don't like leds unless they have inline resister
Nice the same problem that happened on my vw. Golf

@0063mike check the corsa playlist…it never went to a garage, what can I do when a car fails mot? Break the law? 😂

Does changing bulbs to led ones count as a modification for insurance purposes Ta
😂😂😂no
Technically yes. Any change of your vehicle is supposed to be reported. Even stickers. But they wont know or care
It's worse than that, halogen headlight housings aren't designed for LEDs, you'll piss off a lot of on coming drivers in the dark.
They’re not road legal. Guarantee the box says not for road use. They’re not e marked.
Get genuine rocker cover gasket from vauxhall
No hate, but next time you do a compression test, you're supposed to cut the fuel ( remove fuel pump relay etc) your results will be affected otherwise
I wouldn’t get the LED lights, they ain’t better than the halogen bulbs lol
Jesse u got brains mush 🤛

Cant even get them lights for my renault megane no option for RENOOOO
I had to take one side of bumper off to put a new blubs.
No matter the severity of failure, garages have no right to trap your car there.
He didn’t trap my car 🤣 I didn’t want to drive it with no mot or tax…
@@JesseCollingham did you drive it there with no tax then? And mate I see in the video your not doing the chain??? Thats a shame.
You need coolant aswell!

Why does it sound like a 1.3 diesel ⛽️ 🧐
Timing chain needs replacing
Don’t buy cheap rocker gaskets end of u know this from owning Hondas
I think this is just a filler car. Definitely gonna be sold soon.
