I guess, that since it's a multiple cellular horn speaker, there is no slip rings. To avoid twisting up the speaker wires, it swings back and forth, rather than rotating continuously in the same direction, like most electro-mechanical sirens do. They would have burned down firefighter uniforms, their eyes would be a soulless void and they have no nose, and it’s mouth is always open. It has no hands and when the syren goes off they will materialize out of thin air. And these creatures are called the fire watchers, firefighters that fell to the flames and now have to roam the streets and kill anyone in sight
It almost seems like the siren is rotating around and picking random points to stop to announce the message, like it wants to make sure every area around the siren wants the message to be heard. Very odd behavior though.
If I had to bet, my money would be on Swiss cheese failures. I don't know how EFS architecture works but I'd assume it hasn't been changed in 50 yrs. Probably still using strowger switches and a magnet tape sequencer for the voice clips lol
The ones where I live haven't failed once. If anything my bet is it depends on the areas and locations and how much funding goes into it. This stuff also may occur after the systems may have been repaired after a real emergency where the sirens were damaged in the process. They do tests to see what may need to be fixed. I see the point here but space travel and disaster warnings are different from each other. Though I do believe we would do better if we made entirely brand new sirens with newer tech types to see what works best and what is the most efficient.
Ah, see, my home town also didn't have the test message, but I'm pretty sure the test would still happen in bad weather given the astronomically low chances of the minute long monthly test coinciding with a severe weather event. Except for that one time I remember there being a massive thunderstorm, and my family hearing the sirens go off, and running into the basement... Only for the sirens to shut off exactly a minute later. I later realized it was the first Tuesday of the month (or whenever the testing usually was) and TO THIS DAY wonder whether or not it was bad timing or just a very, very short lived tornado.

It almost seems like the siren is rotating around and picking random points to stop to announce the message, like it wants to make sure every area around the siren wants the message to be heard. Very odd behavior though.
That's actually what it's supposed to do. It rotates to every angle so everyone can hear it.

We can send people into space. Yet we can't get a EBS to work properly in any town in the US. This has baffled me for years.
If I had to bet, my money would be on Swiss cheese failures. I don't know how EFS architecture works but I'd assume it hasn't been changed in 50 yrs. Probably still using strowger switches and a magnet tape sequencer for the voice clips lol
The ones where I live haven't failed once. If anything my bet is it depends on the areas and locations and how much funding goes into it. This stuff also may occur after the systems may have been repaired after a real emergency where the sirens were damaged in the process. They do tests to see what may need to be fixed. I see the point here but space travel and disaster warnings are different from each other. Though I do believe we would do better if we made entirely brand new sirens with newer tech types to see what works best and what is the most efficient.

We don’t get the “this is only a test” message where I’m from. They test it only during good weather, so we all assume it’s only a test.
Examples why: Bombers, air strike, Soviet Russia, Donald trump becomes president , etc...
Ah, see, my home town also didn't have the test message, but I'm pretty sure the test would still happen in bad weather given the astronomically low chances of the minute long monthly test coinciding with a severe weather event.
Except for that one time I remember there being a massive thunderstorm, and my family hearing the sirens go off, and running into the basement... Only for the sirens to shut off exactly a minute later. I later realized it was the first Tuesday of the month (or whenever the testing usually was) and TO THIS DAY wonder whether or not it was bad timing or just a very, very short lived tornado.
Mines just the first friday of every month
