Hi i loved watching your siren repair skills just hearing the beeps and tones got me exciting ive never really thought about getting a job as a tornado sirens technician but it may help me in the long run aiding towards getting my first victorian House 🏠 in Minneapolis minnesota
The encoder is what produces the 10 digit DTMF tones and transmits them over the frequency with a radio. They have a professional 2 way radio that can also transmit 10 digit DTMF and that’s what they use to poll the sirens to see their battery voltage and also they use that to activate them with radio without having to contact the dispatchers
every siren has a decoder so when DTMF is sent the encoder sends a singal to the attn and goes down to the decoder and is made into any tone to warn of danger
Thanks for sharing! As I said at SirenCon, UA-cam needed more of these videos.
Wait there’s a sirencon!? Where and when does this take place!? I definitely wanna go!!

What two way radio do you use? I am buying a dtmf decoder for my mini motor siren but don't know how to send threw dtmf.
I think he uses a TYT MD-UV380
@@STLMetroSirensMain yep
@@seanjuth thats sweet, how did you program the 10 digit dtmf on it?

@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL whelen e747 for example
@@CentralVirginiaEAS yea, but the E-747 isn’t capable of two-way status monitoring iirc
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL Correct. You'd need a E-2010 for 2 Way Monitoring.
@@CentralALSirens figured. And that is too big to always have in the car so I bet they poll the sirens via a professional handheld DTMF two-way radio
Is there a repeater in the siren? Or is there a repeater somewhere else?
It's somewhere else learn how radios work
@@w.e.s. There is a tower site where the repeater is located which is unknown at this time. I already know how radios work and i'm not dumb lol.
What career field do I need to be involved in to work on these systems?
Engineering?
It's its own field. You just have to find a company that specializes in this type of word

May I ask how does the siren work for the sound?
every siren has a decoder so when DTMF is sent the encoder sends a singal to the attn and goes down to the decoder and is made into any tone to warn of danger
The siren sound is generated on the controller and is sent to the amps. From there, it is played out of the very loud speakers inside of the siren.
@@J19_vlogger74 wow thank you
@@canadian..chaser You're welcome.
What is wrong with the tornado siren is it dead do you have to replace the box or is it the siren I'm so so confused right now I'm having a brain fart
