I love how you point out that 3d printers are pretty cheap in the air raid siren video. (now everyone can be a nice neighbor for around 280 bucks shipping included + a motor)
What a project! I need this for my neighbours when they wake me up again at 3am. 3db is twice the power yet doesn't sound twice as loud. 10db feels twice as loud.

The model of the siren in France you recorded is a DS PAKITA siren and it's sound was used for the horror film "Silent Hill". And the DS PAKITA siren is pretty much a sentry siren running 50 hz while a sentry siren runs on 60 hz
france also uses siren brands like KM Europ, Demay, Northern electric construction and also PTR.
there is no difference between 50hz and 60hz. they both run the same
@@onfirestudios4664no, 60hz Is more faster rpm than 50hz
There was one of these type sirens up on top of a pole close to the house I lived in as a child in Philadelphia, PA. It would go off at noon and would scare the pants off me when I was close by. All of these were eventually disabled. I addition to the air raid siren at noon, there was a huge growling steam whistle that blew at the beginning and end of each shift at the shipyard near my home.

If you want to make this siren even louder, add a second rotor with slightly smaller or larger holes, just as long as they are a different size, the tones of each will harmonize and create an even louder siren. Its how most car horns work.
Is this note even possible to a 6 port siren? ua-cam.com/video/tryjb_hmN7A/v-deo.html Edit: That's my Silent Hill siren synth. Model DS PAKITA SIREN by PAKITA.
you mean the klaxon or something? klaxon is rotary but modern car horns are just speakers with or without a cone right?
@@phenylmusic car horns mix two tones, a higher and lower frequency, they harmonize with each other and create a much louder sounding frequency. you can do the same with rotary sirens or other horns by making the holes different sizes.
@@The_JEB right car horns usually have 2 tones a minor third apart
Better yet would be a three rotor design with each rotor having a different impeller style as well as different hole sizes.

I am planning on getting a mini 3d printed tornado siren when I move up to Tennessee. Less people around in the mountains, more opportunity for siren testing. Plus, there are most tornadoes in Tennessee than in Florida, so that is a plus and an increased threat.
Put it on top of a church and then you will get silent hill.
Also the siren you recorded at the beginning is a Km Europ or a DS Pakita.

@@gialuquin88XD 180k rpm is too fast
@@gialuquin88XD It's said multiple times in the video that the motor works at 3000 rotations per seconds. But that's impossible, only things going remotely close to that speed are injection turbines in rocket motors.
SO it's not 3000 rotations per seconds, but 3000 rotations per minutes (similar to a small diesel car going 100 km/h in third gear).

In the midwest U.S. everyone goes outside expecting to see a tornado.
I live in the U.S. so... I've never heard an air raid siren. So thank you for that, I'll never forget it.
Tornado Sirens are just old Air Raid sirens, pretty much.
The fact that you set the location to France, makes me want to build a wall with heavily armored weapons
Nice to see a revisit to this siren but add some trapdoors for a hi-lo sound (I’m sure it wouldn’t be a civil defense authorized though)
Made one once while in the military just for fun. Took a very loose 1” ball valve that was modified so it could spin the ball. Hooked the ball to a moto tool and used a vacuum cleaner with a traffic cone horn. Pointed it out the window and had large groups of troops headed to duty stations for the “alert” 😂🤪🤣
and that's when you received your dishonorable discharge?
@@fourdoorsmorehoes LOL, no.... in fact the base commander made a humorous comment about it in the base paper, praising the response to the “unannounced alert” 😉
@@fanman421 LMAO
@@rameynoodles152 One of our other projects was an FM radio station (not licensed) that just covered the barracks area of the base. Squadron commander got permission from the base commander to use a barracks room as a studio because the station was “good for morale”. We aired music almost nonstop using a 10 1/2 inch reel to reel tape deck so it would play for about 9 hours before repeating. We did interrupt the music occasionally for “public service announcements” like “Attention troops.... anyone interested in seeing the security police drug detection dogs in action, you can go to barracks 108 right now to see them perform.” 😉
@@fourdoorsmorehoes Assuming they are in the US military (because imperial measurements for the ball valve) you have to do a LOT more to get a dishonorable from the military. At most you'd get physical punishment (push ups or shit) and _maybe_ an article 15 if it was bad enough, but a dishonorable? Hell no

I laughed so hard at how loud it was when you were outside. I want one.
You probably should've just printed the stator all in one, not adjustable. Even though the rotor would rub against the stator it would eventually just grind away until it doesn't anymore. It still sounds and looks great though!
I love how pleased you are with yourself at the end. I'll bet that sucker was loud in person.

great timing
3 dB represents a doubling of the sound pressure, an increase of about 10 dB is required before the sound subjectively appears to be twice as loud.
With a motor that big, you can build a much bigger bigger chopper and rotor. You could tell you can build it much bigger because the time it took for the rotor to spin up was quite short.
I personally suggest scaling up the model with the same motor, and add a thick metal plate on the rotor to act as a fly wheel (your attack signal will sound GREAT). Love the content!
Of course, but my printer can only print 20x20x20cm
I would have loved to make it bigger
