Wow what craftsmanship! A couple of questions from dull Tamworth. The right angle sander you used is it the Festool sander? Do Latham timber sell to the weekend warriors?. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next video.
Every time I watch your vids I lean something new. When you were about to stain the ash I was thinking not black, please not black and when it was black I thought that's alright actually. I should learn to trust the awesomeness. I loved that oak top and the ebony trim really nice clean look.
HI Sean amazing piece, I was wondering if you could tell me the brand of 90 degree sanding attachment you have. I have found one that works with the 150 sander. Thanks
Thanks mate! Yes I’ve seen that as well. I like that jig however doing it by hand has more irregularities which I like, because it shows it’s hand done
Beautiful table! I like figured wood as it adds a lot of character to a piece. I used some figured ash for a couple of small tables for my parents, and they love them. The ebony trim was a great choice, as it adds some nice contract to the burr wood.
Thank you Erik! Figured ash sounds incredible, is it like curly maple? Or was it like a Burl? Glad you liked the ebony, I love the contrast as well and I think it matches the base! See you in the next video!
@@SeanEveleghFigured ash is similar to figured maple, and I have both with some very weird patterns that look great. I haven't worked with burl before.
Next oak product, use ammonia. It darkens the aging process. You seal up oak in a bag with a glass bowl of ammonia inside. Monitor the process for the aging you want.
@SeanEvelegh yeah I can see that, most young folks like that contemporary look, but you did start with 450 year old veneer. Would have had a different vibe being aged followed with a glazed cream color to lessen grain color. Contemporary with an old school feel.
Mate you crushed it on this one that burr oak veneer looks awesome. I’ve got a large selection of veneers I picked up ages ago do you need a specific glue or will regular titebond work?
I really appreciate that Dave! That’s sounds great, you can use regular Titebond yes, remember to spread a thin Layer of it. The best glue to use is Titebond cold press glue for veneer as that has thickening agents in it, so that when you press the veneer, the glue won’t seep through the pores of the wood
The burr oak looks great, as does the textured base and the ebony trim. Nicely done, although I was kind of hooping for a nice gentle curve on the sides. Good looking table.
Great video of a great piece of furniture. I like and appreciate the helpful tips you provide during your description of the build.
Thanks so much Geoff! I’m thrilled you liked the video! Makes the editing all worth it ahah
Nice touch with the ebony detail on the top that matches the dark base.
Thanks so much Bruce! I agree the inlay ties the base in nicely
Once again, magnificent work.
Thank you John! Very kind
Looks absolutely amazing love the look of figured woods. Amazing job
Thank you Jim! I totally agree 👍
Looks great, I think figured wood looks better than clear stright grain. 👍👍👍👍
I totally agree Chris! Thanks for watching

Hi Harry, thanks alot. The tool is from Ikuka tools
Very tasteful design.... appreciate the video.
Thank you so much
Awesome project! I saw a guy make a router jig that rotated to make a repeatable texture like you did by hand
Thanks mate! Yes I’ve seen that as well. I like that jig however doing it by hand has more irregularities which I like, because it shows it’s hand done
Stunning work pal.
Appreciated

Hi, yes I've done this before, its a cool technique. However i prefer the look of light oak and not aged.

Run over the planer? You mean the jointer?
In the UK it’s planer and America is jointer
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you
The trim is a really nice touch 👌
Thanks mate! I think I’m going to be doing it a lot more!
Amazing!!

Thanks mate! Glad you liked it, thanks for the feedback, i quite like the sharp look. But agree a curve on some pieces is nice 👌
Beautiful figure in the veneer. Great attention to detail :)
Thank you Mike! I appreciate that
How did you get so many nice tools at your age ? That takes most people years to get.
I actually made and video on how I grew my workshop. Feel free to check it out
