  • After a not so great showing over 10k at the weekend, today it was back to training with a session combing both tempo and speed work. I like to add these workouts into my training in the build up to 5k races to get both an aerobic and anaerobic stimulus. If you enjoy the video please leave a like and consider subscribing.

Watching your channel since 1.5 Years now, and it inspired me and my twinbrother to run aswell. On the day of your copenhagen marathon, we ran our first Halfmarathon (we just turned 16) and we finished in 1:21. So happy that we started running and special thanks to you for inspiring us.

Know what i loved about your 10k tough race, you never quit i run for a club local and loads if having a tough day and aint getting a pb they just quit for me that goes against the ethos of running id only not ever finish a race because of injury.I went for a sub 3 marathon last year and knew about 18 wasnt capable of holding the pace need did a 3:06:43 never once did i think of quitting.

It's nice to also see the races, where it doesn't go as planned. I just raced a half marathon where I was on pace for a 10 minutes PB since last year, but I just completely fell apart over the last kilometer and ended up not even crossing the finish line. This video reminds me to put it behind me and just focus on the next one instead. Cheers!

For marathons I really look into this data where i make sure I get that training load into the performance category- being fresh for the longer distance is much more important from my experince. At the moment i'm try to maintain a optimal training volume to build fitness so there isn't a taper as such for these races as im looking to use them to build towards some A goal races in September/October time :)

I remember a few years back you did an ultra and had a terrible race. You bounced back from that race and you've come so far since then. Bad races happen -- I've had plenty of them. But they make the great races even sweeter though. Looks like you and I suffered with similar challenges as far as remembering our workouts. I usually grab a sticky note and put it in my pocket -- although invariably it falls out of my pocket. Keep it up Ben, you and Andy Raynor continue to inspire me to train hard and get it done.

Your content is entertaining to view , I would make one comment, you see to suggest that any training session will have an immediate effect on an upcoming performance which clearly is not the case . Probably the reverse is true the wrong session can have a negative effect depending on what damage it does to muscle tissue . This session makes no sense before a 5k race. Your training seems to have little strategy rather just going from session to session and reacting to the last race performance. To optimise your ability I’d get a coach who knows what they are doing 😊
