I find that it’s for the most experienced players. The kind of players who have lots of experience with every type of pedal and know exactly how to use them and what they want.
These players put it in manual mode, with the four cable method into an amp head, and just use the stomp boxes as they normally would.
Yes, more customization would be nice with the order but that’s really not what the unit is about.
It’s an all-in-one pedalboard replacement and it does its job well.

i love when gear heads and twanger snots talk about the ME series. They automatically demote it in most cases, as is done here, to something for "beginners" or for use in "the bedroom". These are guys IMO who either dont like their routing to be chosen for them, OR they are guys who like the control (of their gear AND of other musicians) of stopping a practice and making everyone else w8 while they re-route their pedal chain or go outside with an acoustic tuner or just cant put their heads in a sock and just get in the zone and fukn play the guitar. Now i know that its hard to get in the zone if ur sound isnt in the pocket. But again IMO the ME series has some great and in some instances revolutionary approaches to making a pedal board comprehensive simple fluid and very professional. The COSM technology is top notch. And in the newer models the amount of flexibility between analog on the fly knobs and software integration is unmatched. I like the GT1000 but i dont like the tiny screens and the way the menus are set up. As a matter of fact i dont even care for the the BOSS software setups for PC. i want a simpler version of stand alone pedals. This does it for me. no power blocks, batteries, patch cords, or any of that crap. All i could ever use for my style and plenty to develop and get better as a player. I guess for the guy who already has deemed himself the greatest player yet, the ME series is not gonna cut it.

There are some errors in this video. The unit supports midi in two formats. It supports midi over USB and also the Bluetooth adapter functions over midi.
There are other errors but I’ll leave that one for now.

Using usb for midi in a live set up requires some kind of adapter. I’m talking actual midi connection. The midi implementation in this pedal is seriously lacking.

Hmmm.... i had the ME80 and gigged with it for years every week. I upgraded to the ME90 and love it even more. I gig with it every weekend. I play everything from Tom Petty to 80's hair Metal. This can do it all. I set up patches for my set list...pretty straightforward. Ill use Manual mode occasionally. Assign the CTL peddle to whatever you want in any patch, same with expression peddle. I dont play Stadiums, as im sure most of you dont. This does everything ive asked it to. I do have A Helix as well, but use this every weekend. I run through the PA. From beginner to Pro, this will do it. This is coming from a Gigging Musician with 10 years of experience just with the ME80 and ME90. I do run a Tube Screamer in front of it for a little extra versatility in OD and Boost

@@dgperforms1 I’m glad it works for you! It really depends on the genre. I do a lot of Shoegaze and doom rock mixture and there’s huge difference in the sonics I need compared to the music you’re describing.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ll make whatever I have work. I played in the 90s through a solid state crate with no effects whatsoever. My first multi fix unit was the me-50 in the early 2000s.
      Happy gigging !

I like mine. Honestly I would rate it a 10/10 except for one thing: The EQ on it is pretty weak compared to the rest of the unit. You only get three bands and they can’t be adjusted in terms of frequency ranges. Really limits how much you can fine tune some of the tones (it’s fine on some preamps, but it really becomes a big problem on others).
Despite its quirks, it’s still very much my daily driver. It’s great if the idea of a knob-based WYSIWYG processor appeals to you, and it does sound really good once you have it dialed in. It’s not going to compete against what a GT-1000 or a GX-100 can do if you want maximal flexibility though (traditional screen/menu based processors have the entire ME-lineup beat as soon as we start talking about signal chain order).

You can't really rearrange the effects even in the app. It will chose the effect order for you. You can swap where the fx loop is, and that can be done on the device without the app. I think you hit the nail on the head with its best for players that are not so experienced that they know exactly what sounds they want already. For those of us that are undecided, it does make experimentation so much easier than using a menu, and will inform you if you upgrade. If I did know exactly what sounds I wanted, Id get something more complex, make the patches, and have done with it.

Good observation! Does the "tune down" function work well with the distortions?

Only for single notes. It’s also a bit laggy in that mode.

This dude is clearly a snob. It works PERFECTLY down to a full semi-tone and a half. Under that it’s about 97% spot on. This guy is also wrong about a few things. I just don’t have the energy to point them out. Someone will. This device is the best $300 piece of gear available. Just like the BOSS Katana Artist is not only the best $500-$600 amp ever made but, also probably the best amp ever made. I’ve had every modeler there is over the past 15 years. That cost anywhere from a little more than this, to 10x more than this. I use the ME90 everyday. If you ever spent all the time required to use other effects and modeling units, and absolutely hate the fact you need a PhD in audio engineering, like me, to even build a friggn patch, you’ll really understand how great this thing is. And it sounds great on 95% of the things it offers. I literally just put an EQ pedal thru the loop on mine because an EQ is the best pedal to have. Also, the tuner in mine is spot on with my Peterson Strobe tuner The tuner is perfect.

What is important to remember is that such consoles are only a tool for realizing what is born in the head and can be done with the hands. Don't spend too much time on technique - more time should be spent playing with a clean sound without overdrive, for example.

Cracks me up when ppl find “ flaws “ with absolutely best $300 piece of gear ever made. This guy probably whines at the coffee shop when his coffee is 1 degree wrong. If you want a million options, buy something else for 6X the money. This isn’t a review, it’s a dude that wants to find faults. Also, if you wanna make ANY piece of gear sound even better and tweak it completely to your perfect tones, get a damn 7 band EQ pedal. An EQ pedal is the most important piece of gear ever made.

    • @RPMusicStudios
      @RPMusicStudios  28 днів тому +1

@@BAND-MAID-USA I don’t make videos to find faults. These are my observations. If you don’t agree that’s fine. I played a solid state crate amp for 15 years and didn’t complain. Ffs
