Pretty cool. I love the original silver knobs on the older versions, they should've kept that. But I'm glad they haven't completely ditched the rugged 80s style interface with knobs, can't get into those led screen line 6 neural dsp thingies, i know there advanced with huge applications.. but this would be my preference anyday. I get
Predator feels from the old school display lol with the whole alien sign languages. Just perfect.

Me 80 or 90, A suggestion that I know works. My suggestion would be to have your user bank with your 4 presets geared towards the makeup of the guitar you're using. So if you have a telecaster, have patches for it, switch over to a double humbucker? 4 patches for it. A single, single, humbucker setup, have 4 patches for it. It makes this thing much more flexible. I think that you get the point. Each guitar should have its own patches. Hollow body, single hollow body it's digital man , just don'ttry to make patches live. Of course, if you only have one guitar and a matching backup well then you Sky's the limit!

I use this in manual mode going into a tube amp using the 4 cable method. I have two: in case one fails. If the venue doesn't allow for mic'ing up a cabinet then I can just use the preamp section and run direct to front of house. It's a fantastic all in one in manual mode, just a stomp box with a built in expression pedal. I don't see why people say it's for beginners. It's outstanding for pros.

Hell yeah, this thing is fantastic.

That's more or less how I'm using mine. It's super flexible. I mostly just use mine as the pre-amp as well and run it straight into the power-amp input of my Katana, but if the ME-90 fails, I have my katana as a backup for the preamp (and most of the effects). When there's a PA, I can just run straight into that and skip the amp entirely. It's super flexible.

Hello, does anyone know why the CTL is always turning ON when saving presets from Manual Mode? I haven't encountered this issue with the ME-80 before. Thanks.
Edit: The issue is with the OD/DS. When trying to save a preset with an OD/DS, it automatically turns on the CTL with the selected OD/DS, MOD, and DLY.
    Has anyone else encountered this?

Can you turn CTL off before you save the preset? I no longer have this review unit, though I wish I did.

I love mine, I don't regret going the ME-90 route rather than getting a Pod Go or a GX-100 or GT-100. The biggest thing I'm not a huge fan of is that its implementation of EQ isn't great. It gets the job done, but I find myself frequently getting a sound relatively close (ish) to what I want, and then not being able to dial it in completely because the 3-band EQ on the ME-90 is a little bit limiting in terms of fine tuning.
I just bought a dedicated 7-band EQ to solve some of that. I'm just going to have it going in between the ME-90 output and the amp, should fix most of the shortcomings I have with my setup.
If there are two things I'd suggest to Boss for a successor, it'd be to have an amp control out for being able to switch channels on amps that support it (would make it much easier to use the amp's distortion for those who want to use it without having to pedal dance between presets) and to have a 4th knob on the EQ for better fine tuning. Especially for being able to tame some of the bass and treble frequencies a little bit better.

It's an awesome unit, but I agree. I would have loved it more if it had a parametric EQ you could access through Tone Studio and fine tune it.

@@Guitarnivore It was an odd omission. They probably could have fit one onto the board fairly easily since a dedicated EQ block wouldn't need a knob to determine what type of effect you're applying. They probably could have fit four knobs vertically on the second row of knobs and might not even need a button to turn it on or off (since the first EQ block is a trigger-able one already and you could set the CTL pedal to do whatever you need anyway).

I think it is worth it to spend a little more to get the gt-1000 core. You get more customization options with the signal chain.
For a beginner player, it is a phenomenonal deal to help you figure out your sound. Kids these days have it sooo easy to sound great for a few hundred verses thousands. 😂
Great demo of the unit, thank you!

I'd check out the GT 1000 core next, but I've been doing way too much Boss stuff lately (I have one more, well two with the Gen 3). I need to check out more Line 6 stuff.

Gt1000 isn’t that great, many of the blocks are not customizable and you can’t have full control of them, plus you can’t remove blocks that you’re not using, you can only shove them to the end of the chain and turn them off or make them straight through. Visually it’s very chaotic. If you’re looking for that kind of multi pedal GTX 100 is probably a better way to go, much more customizable. You also have full control over all the blocks and can have multiples of the same thing over and over again if you want that.

GX100 owner here. I absolutely love the Gx100 for its ease of use and the sound quality plus freedom signal chain

The ME-90 is sort of in a different category in a lot of ways. It fits really well when you don't want to have to guess how to dive through menus to set up a lot of complex signal chains, the default layout of the ME-90 is pretty sensible and very easy to dial in on the fly for most things. It does have its limitations (particularly with the EQ, I do wish it had more bands for more fine tuning, and you are a little bit limited in terms of how you can configure your effect chain before the preamp), but as far as everything else goes, it's pretty freaking flexible. It replaced every other setup I've ever used before, I found I was able to do everything I needed on the ME-90.
