I followed all your steps and opened opened the pump , there was residue. I put it all together again and the pump is working again. Thank you for this video.

I see this is an old video. Maybe this comment will indicate that this information is still valid. Best "how to" video I have ever seen. Clear and concise. Thank you ApplianceVideo. I may have to have somebody out to fix it, or maybe buy a new one, but at least I did my homework and gave it a try.

Thank you so much for posting this. I just fixed my 3 year old washer. I had just done a self clean, and emptied out the drain filter. Put it all back together and started it up and heard some terrible noise. Then, after stopping and starting, realized it wasn't draining. Watching this video, I was able to find a coin in the impellers. It wasn't easy to get out, but a little sticky glue on my finger and I got it!! The washer is going through a full cycle with no issues!! I wouldn't have know about the impeller spot without this video!! Thank you!!

Thanks for the great video. It helped me diagnose and fix my wife's washer for only $31. I spend my days at a computer keyboard, but tonight I got to come home and play "Appliance Repairman" and it was great.

I was able to follow your instructions and resolved the draining issue myself (Samsung Model wf9702n5w). After watching quite a few video's, I picked this one, pause it when I needed and took a full day off (considering I NEVER have done this before 😳) and my patience paid off! I have a working washing machine and £250 in my pocket! Many Thanks!

This video was perfect for me. Ended up being alot of hair caught around impeller of drain pump. Had to disassemble the drain motor a bit to clean. No new parts needed. Screw placement was different, but concept was close enough. Had to temporarily remove soap dispenser to get console on/off easier. Model was Samsung wf42h5000a. Thanks again for posting.
@@auggie1790 moved but strained movement. I guess that if it was clogged more it would not move at all. But, then it would likely burn out the motor, so I think I caught it just in time
@@brobins2207 Thanks. Very helpful. I took it apart, for it had some resistance. Anyway the motor magnet had a crack, and water was inside the motor space. New part from Amazon on its way for 20 bucks. Thanks again.
So I just got the pump part in the mail and followed your video for reassembly. This is an awesome video guys. You did a great job, step by step, for dis-assembly and assembly. On reassembly I could not get that front control panel back on until I removed that screw for the soap dispenser. Also when he says SHARP EDGES pay attention. I cut my hand. But I still saved a couple of hundred dollars on repair bills. Also I did not get the entire pump assembly when I ordered the parts. The only thing I got was the discharge pump itself. Thanks again.

Excellent video. Diagnosed and replaced the drain pump on my washer. Pump was only $41. Couple things on my WF350ANR: two more screws at the bottom of the front panel that go in from underneath, also found that loosening a screw or two on the top of the soap dispenser body to slide it back a hair made it easier to flip the control panel off.

This is an awesome step by step video to fix a broken washer. I got a pump motor only but 3 screws changed it and I used the same plastic pump assembly. I also checked my hoses and found the vent hose plugged with debris. I cleaned it out and so far it has run a few loads. Thanks again for the video. It is great.

Simply the best "Repair" video I've ever seen. I watched it multiple times prior to attacking my washer, and pump was cheap order on Amazon. Simple bought the Drain Pump by itself. My washer is working like new. I hope they gave you a raise!! Thank you so much.

Great video - allowed me to disassemble, diagnose, and clear a blockage in my drainage system. Two hours later, everything is back together and working great at no cost other than my time. Also had the additional two screws in the bottom of the front panel mentioned by kilpala below. My problem turned out to be a blockage in the 90 degree elbow leading from the tub drain. Took the time to remove and clean the drain lines and everything is flowing smoothly again. Again - my sincere thanks for a great video.

I had the similar symptoms on my Samsung front load washing machine, I end up replacing the drain pump and nothing. When I disassembled the washer for the second time, I found a quarter stuck in the plastic elbow between the drum and the drain pump. My only advice is, make sure you inspect all the hoses for obstructions before putting back the washing machine. Great video, thanks..!!!

Matt, many thanks for this helpful video. My Samsung WF203ANW was full of water and humming instead of draining... Accessing the pump on my model (without an emergency drain in front) was easy from the back of the machine. I elevated the machine and placed a container under to collect water from the tub before disconnecting hoses. Once I removed the pump, there were stones visible on the inlet side of the pump. I disassembled the pump (4 screws) and after clearing the stones out, I tested the pump and it seemed fine. I started a cycle to fill the machine, then stopping it, then running the spin cycle to start the draining process. The pump worked fine. I then ran a full load of laundry with success! Everything works now as it should.

As with others, this video was great and allowed me to self repair my washer. I ordered the part off Amazon and it was perfect. Thank you for the video. The only issue was my washer (model WF520ABP/XAA) had a few differences that I had to troubleshoot. First I had no screws in the trap area to remove, but there were two under the front face in brackets that needed to be removed before I could remove the front panel later. Second was that the control panel wouldn't come off until I removed too additional screws that allowed the soap and liquids dispenser to slide back. This allowed the control panel to come right off.

This laterally is the best video ever. A background on this for anyone that wants to read a story, me and my wife bought a preowned Samsung washer from Best Buy outlet stores and purchased a $100 5yr protection plan. We made a claim and never had the repair man come by. The geeksquad protection is a joke on large applicants I feel. since the 3rd party repair company refuses to fix the part or replace the machine I have to take things as are and do it myself. But lesson learned and I learned this lesson too.

Thanks for this! What saved me here was your advice of seeing if the impeller was moving or was stuck. Mine was stuck but could feel something stopping it. With a paper clip was able to get a big blob of lint and hair out and it is back to normal. Thanks!!!

Great video! Well explained at every step. I have never done anything like this before but the directions were easy to follow. Great additional "be careful" tips, such as be careful when unscrewing certain screws to avoid stripping them or "slide this in like this." Thank you for doing this video and helping me be self-sufficient AND save a lot of money. :)

Thanks for the video, went easy mode and tilted the washing machine against the wall so i could acces it from beneath, took away the bottom plate with some screws and the 2 screws in front where the filter is and so i could take out the pump aswell. It had a big clunk of dirt and hair in one of the propellers, took it out, refitted everything and works like a charm again!

Hey, thanks for the excellent video, although I only watched the first five minutes, you solved my problem. One would think that after my many years of diy appliance repair I would have looked first for low hanging fruit. A wise person said one of the most difficult things for people to do is "think!). A visual exam of the tub, with its nasty old throw rug and several inches of water would have sent me in the right direction immediately. The wife had tried to wash the rug and in the process, the backing came off and totally plugged the filter 😟. My washer is on the floor so dealing with several gallons of drain water involved numerous towels and mopping up and after picking as much debris out of the tub as possible, I am now running a "rinse and spin" cycle. Maybe one more time, after another filter cleaning and I'll be in business. Can't help wonder how many Samsung appliance repair folks live in nice houses and drive fancy cars because of many calls involving filter clean out. Read the manual, folks 😀, Muchas gracias for the wake-up call 👍👍👍.

This was the most helpful video for my unit - by far. My unit wouldnt drain so I I pulled my filter out - there was a SOCK in it. Even after I cleared the filter it still wouldnt drain on its own (I tried running the 8 minute spin cycle a few times, no go. cycle would stop at 7 minutes and door was locked with water at the bottom.) I was completely ready to dismantle this samsung per the video (to either replace the pump or check the outtake hose which could only be done from the front)- the step by step instructions seemed simple and I was determined to avoid calling a repair service. I checked if the pump was good by running the "rinse and spin" cycle one last time so I could feel if the pump was working - which it was.(mind you I've been at this problem for several days, watched several other videos and ready to tackle a pump replacement) Well apparently unplugging the washer was the ticket after I removed the sock, because it finally drained and finished its cycle! I dont have to take it apart. but I COULD have after this vid. Thumbs up guy

Such a great video... I hope you keep it up with other models and/or appliances for folks that require it!!!For those out there, trust me, this vid is awesome and worked great wonders for my DIY needs saving me a crap tone of costs hiring someone to fix my 3yr old washer. My bad for not purchasing the extended warranty lol... that said, you shouldn’t need to pay someone to fix a washer after a cpl yrs. this vid was explained so well and easy to follow, I didn’t need to pay anyone. Took me little time to fix my washer without any costs!!!Great job and appreciate it immensely!!!

I changed the drain pump and checked hoses and still got intermittent no draining. My problem was the drain hose was too low in the standpipe in the wall, it worked it's way down. I pulled it out and cut like a foot off the hose so it went down only 6 inches into the drain. My problem was that whoever installed it pushes the drain hose as far as it could in the wall. I was a day away from buying a new washer and throwing away a good machine. I'm sure this will help some people. Mahalo. This was a good video and worked well for me, but one of the first step to check should be the drain hose depth into the standpipe.

This was perfect!! The step by step details were great. I only received 4 cuts to my hands BUT I was warned that sharp edges were present. Pulling off the front panel was a little tricky because there was 2 screws in the bottom (not described in video) which required us to elevate the front edge, remove the screws and to get the door free. The gasket spring was a little tricky because it was not shown in the video either but with my wifes help we were able to get it secured. Thank you for this production as it saved us from buying a new washer, now she can buy ANOTHER pair of shoes.

Excellent video! The steps were accurate and I was able to get my washer back up and running. I probably need a new washer as this one is over 20 years old, but this was much easier than the hassle of purchasing a new one. Thanks!
Great video. Thank you! Washer works again. Just a heads up. I have a newer Samsung washer. Two things I had to do different. One was take off the soap. He did mention u might have to. Secondly I had 3 screws to unscrew at the bottom of front panel that was not mentioned. I lifted it and put two 2 x 4 under it and used a small Dewalt 90 degree drill bit adapter.

Good video different models vary slightly. My problem was intermittent pump failure, you could hear it hum but would not turn resulting the tub having to be manually drained multiple times, Built a suicide cord with clips to fit the motor terminals to test motor after pulled out to confirm failure. Then disassembled the motor 3 screws plus the 2 screws that hold it to the mount. Found sealed inside full of stale rancid black water that had leaked by the o-rings. Best to disassemble over the sink careful not to get water on or in windings. Thoroughly cleaned out rotor shaft with q-tips and alcohol, remove o-rings from grooves and cleaned out grooves with q-tips and alcohol, note do not get alcohol on o-rings, rubber and alcohol do not mix. After cleaning off O-rings lubricated using auto parts store spark plug boot protector IE silicone grease. Nice sized package and cheap. Cleaned out water housing as well removing any black residue, Reassembled completely including metal frame mount and plugged in suicide cord to test in 115 AC outlet. Worked like new turned on every time instantly. Note even the slightest deposit or gunk that sticks to the rotor shaft or housing can stop it from turning so cleaning everything out was all it needed, saved over $80.00 the cost of a new pump and days down waiting for it to arrive not to mention appliance repair call visit. Wonder how many buy "new" pumps that were taken home and cleaned out

Great video! Thank you! I have a Samsung WF448AAP/XAA 02. I just replaced the motor and not the whole pump. Part No DC31-00054A. $29 on Amazon. My washer was very similar but not exact. I was able to figure it out easily by watching this. Mine didn't have any screws in the front by the filter. They snuck two screws in the bottom of the front panel. If it's sitting on the floor, you have to tilt the washer back and prop it up with something to get them. Getting that spring back in the door seal is a real pain in the ... Thanks again!

I have the same issue. Was seriously considering buying a new set, as they are 12 years old, but stumbled upon this video and now i feel like it's worth trying out this repair. Anyone have the part number for the drain pump? Heading to amazon now!!
Going to do this tomorrow. This video was amazing. Thank you guys for such a detailed video. I was a but worried since the machine doesn't have one of the smaller front panels, but after watching, I'm feeling confident this will take no longer than an hour

Great video - getting ready to change the pump on my Samsung washer for the 2nd time in 3 years. I bought 2 $20.00 pumps on A>>z>>n because many reviews of the pumps said they wouldn't last 6 months to a year - well this one lasted 2 plus years so I am using the 2nd one that I have stored. That is my advice buy 2 cheap pumps and be prepared to change them out. CLEAN the rubber bellows well - this is the source of most of the sour odors from a machine - sludge builds up in the inner fold.

Hi Matt. Great detailed video!! I have a front load Samsung with pump in back of washer. Machine works for the most part, but won't go into spin cycle from rinse. Pump seems to work for draining water from inside of the tub but does NOT get rid of water underneath the inside of tub. I can hear it sloshing around when I manually spin the tub after machine stops. I've taken the pump apart twice and cleaned a small amount of lint that was inside. No change in the operation. Is the leftover water normal to be there, or is this pump malfunctioning somehow by not expelling all the water??? Thanks much!! Daniel

thank you for the video you explained everything very well but I have a question I changed my pump 2 times but it wasn't the original pump and it only worked for 2 or 3 days and went back to how it was so do you think there is something else wrong or is it that I'm having bad luck with the pumps

Nice Video. At the 8:00+ min mark you can see at 12:00 on the pump the small hose inlet has been removed. Mine has a rubber flapper type gasket in there...what the heck is that all about? I'm trying to correct an E3 error as the washer won't drain. Unplugged for few hours and did a cycle (no clothes in there) then after wash started, paused the cycle and skipped to drain and spin. The washer will push water out, then stop, then few moments not toughing it will push more water out the drain hose...then stop all to gether. Drain pump? Or possibly a connection as movement occurs. Tks

hey great video. My Samsung vrt was making a grinding bearing ? noise when it would go into the drain and spin cycle, then it just stopped working. I turned it off and then next morning it wont fill anymore and isnt working. i took the drum off the back and am trying to diagnose the problem. that grinding noise that only would happen for a few seconds before it started to go faster? i dont know but do i need to replace the bearings? or is this drain situation the only problem? please reply asap i dont have a washing machine now sitting in the hallway :( thank you.

Hi Having the same problem where my machine complains that the drain is plugged. I pulled the filter and it was plugged full of crap. Previous owners had just left the machine in this state. Cleaned the filter and tried to complete the wash but ended up just draining the water out the front tube. Then I removed the drain hose from the drain pipe and blew into it and I was able to blow air into the drain pump. You could hear gurgling in the machine. Tried the drain and spin cycle and it worked, the water drained out. But 2 washes later back to the same problem. Blowing in the drain hose does not fix it. I can spin the impeller in the drain pump. Can't feel or see any more crap. The impeller does not spin smoothly. Is the jerky motion because of the motor? Any ideas before the pump gets pronounced dead?

lost spin and drain. Door latch didn't click so I replaced that. No Go. So I replaced the pump, as shown. I blew back on the gray drain line, no clog in the hose. But the Samsung still doesn't spin and drain. Is there a clutch actuator? Is there a video for the clutch actuator? Did this today, March 17

Thank you!!

I was able to follow your instructions and resolved the draining issue myself (Samsung Model wf9702n5w). After watching quite a few video's, I picked this one, pause it when I needed and took a full day off (considering I NEVER have done this before 😳) and my patience paid off! WOW my pump was $120 just the pump and motor.
Same issue with me. Video was great.

My little black hose went inside the machine can't get out what can I do?
Thanks for the video, went easy mode and tilted the washing machine against the wall so i could acces it from beneath, took away the bottom plate with some screws and the 2 screws in front where the filter is and so i could take out the pump aswell. It had a big clunk of dirt and hair in one of the propellers, took it out, refitted everything and works like a charm again!

How do you know which one to order from Amazon. I have the part number, but can't find need it on Amazon
I used this video to trouble shoot mine and used it again to replace it. Great step by step. Thank you!!!
Read the manual, folks 😀,

This was the most helpful video for my unit - by far.
My unit wouldnt drain so I I pulled my filter out - there was a SOCK in it. Even after I cleared the filter it still wouldnt drain on its own (I tried running the 8 minute spin cycle a few times, no go. cycle would stop at 7 minutes and door was locked with water at the bottom.)
I was completely ready to dismantle this samsung per the video (to either replace the pump or check the outtake hose which could only be done from the front)- the step by step instructions seemed simple and I was determined to avoid calling a repair service. I checked if the pump was good by running the "rinse and spin" cycle one last time so I could feel if the pump was working - which it was.(mind you I've been at this problem for several days, watched several other videos and ready to tackle a pump replacement)
Well apparently unplugging the washer was the ticket after I removed the sock, because it finally drained and finished its cycle!

Jarrod Infante Good call. I just replaced a pump and got a call back that it's still not draining. Always good to remember the basics!

Thank you guys for the great video. I had a lot of difficulty taking off the control panel. I finally broke the plastic stud on the left side to get it out. Other than that it went great. Thanks again.

Best vid with great explanation.
Hi Matt well done very good
Great video - getting ready to change the pump on my Samsung washer for the 2nd time in 3 years.

Daniel

For anyone doing this now you do not need to disassemble the unit. It can all be done from the bottom if you just tip it backwards. Just did mine and only removed 3 screws to get there.

thank you for the video you explained everything very well but I have a question I changed my pump 2 times but it wasn't the original pump and it only worked for 2 or 3 days and went back to how it was so do you think there is something else wrong or is it that I'm having bad luck with the pumps

Tks

I would add remove all the hoses going to and from the pump and clean them out. A lot of gunk.
Thanks again

hey great video.
