I have owned one for three month's now. Very happy with the cars performance. I have achieved 67 mpg in September with warmer weather. Currently 58 mpg in colder weather as the engine runs more often especially in the morning on start up. As it is running to heat the heating system. Bought my Honda Jazz Crosstar in Sept 2021 having downsized from a Dacia Duster. No regrets whatsoever. The Jazz drives and feels like a much larger car. The electric motors work seamlessly with the petrol engine and give excellent economy (Averaging 62 MPG ) with both in and out of town driving. Our last CRV developed a problem with the driver's seatbelt - car was just out of the three year warranty. Cost to replace the seatbelt a staggering £1000. Honda offered to meet only 20% of the cost of the replacement belt. The dealer offered a honda jazz demo model, whilst the CRV was off the road. Delighted with it and so decided to go for the new Jazz August 2021. Great car far better acceleration than the CRV great fuel economy and a comfortable ride. Highly recommended.

I have had the Crosstar version of the Jazz for about 8 months now and I love it. Mid to high 60’s mpg in the summer, low 60’s in the winter. Plus, the Crosstar gets a better stereo.
I recently bought one of these - my 3rd Jazz. I am really enjoying driving it. I have managed to get up to 90 mpg around town. In addition to the practicality, it also has loads of safety features, which weren't mentioned in the review. It is relatively expensive, but it doesn't cost much to run and holds its value well.
@@toxlaximus3297 I've been experimenting with real mpg for 20 years, you've nailed it. It is possible to get 95mpg in a Jazz - see Fish Brothers from Swindon but note an average speed of 40 mph!
Ive got a Honda Jazz. Fantastic boot storage. Engine exceptionally quiet. Good visibility. Very reliable engine. What they don’t tell you is that the paint peels off.
Bought a Jazz SR in March 2022. Love the car and the Premium Red colour. Over summer often got 62MPG. Less in winter weather. Plenty of space and power for motorway driving. Cannot fault it. SR trim is good value.
I have a mk3 jazz 1.2 and I find it fun to drive down twisty roads. I like the sound of the engine around 5-6k rpm ; it’s not as raw as the 1994 civic I used to own but the steering and chassis are better . I have a 500cc motorbike too but I still sometimes take the jazz out for fun from time to time . It’s also excellent at carrying mountain bikes .
Good review, but I felt reactive to to your opening comments about it not being exciting or fun. I have a 2019 Sport and I find it a good balance of being fun, practical and a great size. Perhaps not a “go-cart” as a mini, but the Sport is peppy and is the same weight as a Mazda MX5 so it’s a pretty good performer too. I like a manual gear car so I doubt if I’ll go for the latest Hybrid version. Why would I when a 2019 Sport is such good value? Apart from the subjective start (maybe save that for the end if you have to) that’s a great review thanks.
I have owned my Honda jazz crosstar for 9 months now and covered 8 thousand miles so far with trips to London from Devon about 200 miles x2 .I am 6’3” and about 17 stone I find I have plenty room for my size there is not a lot to dislike about this car in fact I find it easy to drive and park it’s a bit like the Tardis it looks small but is very deceiving for its size very economical and of course Honda legendary reliability I went for the cross star because it’s a bit bigger and a lot of protection on the wheel arches so overall I think it’s a great car one little niggly it has fantastic lights including the fog lights which unfortunately don’t operate from left to right when you’re turning like other cars it would’ve been nice if they had that but I suppose they just fog lights the sound system with eight speakers is amazing sounds and the Bluetooth connectivity without using a USB cable excellent seats very comfortable I have had three adults and two children in the car which even surprise me for its size very good turning circle and a very stable car to drive and surprisingly nippy .
The UK needs the Nissan Note E Power, the new generation came out in 2021 and it's brilliant. I own the older model but the EV tech in it is just amazing and the range just fantastic. Also it's so fast approx 0-62mph in 6.5 secs Highly recommend if it comes to the UK. At present I get 1000kms on a tank and that's city driving, roughly works out at 95 mpg I think if my conversions are correct
What year is yours? I have been looking into them and talking to people who own one and most don’t get more than 60mpg in theirs. Keen to hear how you manage 90+mpg. Cheers
@@ClassicAutoReviews my one is 2017, that's 1000km was the best I ever got and that was pure city driving. So traffic jams and hitting around at 50km average. Normally I get 875kms on a single tank. It has the tech from the leaf so half of the electric motor from that. Batteries are under the floor just like the leaf. It uses the 1.2 3 cylinder engine to charge the electric motor be and acts as a generator. Also there is selective regen braking just like the leaf. That's so addictive with the one pedal driving . Wear and tear of the car is minimal especially the brake pads etc Brilliant car and I come from the UK originally and this car should of been brought to the UK. They would of sold like hot cakes. That's why it has been the best selling car in Japan. Roomy and very affordable. Plus it's a hoot to drive! The E Power Nismo version is even more bonkers!
Many call the jazz the granny car, we've had 3 over the last few years and never had any problems with them, they are reliable and cheap to run, maybe that's why older people buy them! because they can be trusted , I think maybe older people have a bit more common sense! maybe!!
We've now owned 1 for just over 2 weeks. Travelled just over 4000kms in it. 97% of this at open Rd speeds. 100km/hr, It has average fuel economy of 5ltr per 100km. It is 1 comfortable car. I travelled 4.5hrs in it without stopping, got out and felt surprisingly good
I had one of these as a loan car while mine was being repaired and it was great. It's a very chilled out driving experience, nippy when it needs to be and the best I had from it was 80 miles per gallon. Great little car.
In the United States, Honda has a more sporting image. I know the Jazz isn't a Type R, but in terms of space efficiency I think the Jazz is the true spiritual successor to the Alec Issigonis original Mini.
I bought a new one last year, the 2nd jazz I’ve owned. The new one is a big improvement over the last version but still feels very familiar. Having owned several higher performing cars I would say the ease of driving this and its practicality makes it a clear winner for everyday use. The only crap thing about it is the app, which requires a separate visit to the dealer to activate and which is full of bugs to the extent it is almost unusable.
Had this car from Honda whilst mine was being repaired. Averaging 57mpg on 200 miles drive (100 miles of that was motorway). Surprisingly comfortable, spacious and quiet. However, the £20,000 starting price tag seems to high in my opinion.
In France took our new Jazz amazing ride is great can’t hear the motor when it kicks in precise steering a relaxing drive giving 65+ miles to the gallon we live in Jersey and the speed limit is 40 mph we whisk along in comfort hands built a lovely car thank you.😊.
@@redpillnibbler4423 very hard to tell as 600 miles to the tank living in Jersey we crawl around the island but most of the time it’s in electric air con constantly in use summer time not tried in winter.
Missing was safety feature review/rating, average life time ownership costs, repair history comparison, resale value. Also how does the car perform on different road surfaces, weather conditions, road grades, twisting roads.
We recently sold this model and part exchanged it for a nearly new electric car. It had some very good features and conversely, some notably poor ones too. Given its external size, its deceptively roomy for passengers and the cabin is larger than our BMW 3 series. In addition, the seats are tremendously comfortable. The magic seats are ideal for transporting large items and with the rear seats folded down, it becomes like a small van. So that's the good news. Here's the bad news: ride quality is inadequate for rough roads. The engine often stays on when you are stationary and therefore wastes fuel, however, if you turn off the heating, it stops. So, if you want to save fuel in cold weather, best wear a coat and hat. The acceleration is weedy and handling feel is virtually non-existent. Fuel economy became worse when the new E10 petrol arrived. Honda need to increase the regenerative effect and upscale the inadequate battery capacity because you will soon use up that energy and that engine will fire up again and burn up fuel when it ought to still be running on recuperated energy.
I’ve only ever driven my Jazz with the back seats down and used it as a van. The parcel shelf is permanently stored in the garage. I need the engine to stay running when I am at traffic lights , level crossings, etc, because I need to keep the car running to charge up the starter battery. Otherwise the battery never gets fully charged, and then the car won’t start at all without me calling for a jump start from the AA / RAC.
I wish this was available in the US. Honda discontinued the Jazz( Fit as we call it )in 2020 in North America. I have owned 3 of them and Drive Uber with it. Can't say enough good things about it. With higher Gas prices in the US please Honda consider selling this in the US!
My average Mpg 65 to 70 ..and i m getting between 570 to 630 miles per tank which is 40 litters..now in summer i have got 630 miles which is really impressive..and great to drive and very spacious inside..100% recommended
Had Our jazz for 6 months now just over 5k miles. It has averaged 61.5Mpg ( correctly measured - the car computer claims 63.5).Over that 5+k miles. We have seen 75 mpg on a few 50+ mile trips but high 60s is the norm. However the last two tankfuls in this cold weather are working out as 58 and 57.5 . It’s probably due to the engine running more to heat the car. So far we are very pleased with this versatile little car. In particular it is very comfortable and relaxing to drive. Unfortunately some of the driver aids are annoying, I understand they have to be to get the 5* safety rating. We picked the standard Jazz EX in preference to the seemingly bigger Crosstar as bizarrely the standard car has more space and more equipment. ( heated steering wheel & cross traffic warning on the reversing camera) according to Honda it is also faster to 62 mph and more economical. As far as I can see the only reason for Crosstar is if you need the waterproof seats, - these would be great if you have muddy dogs or children, the Crosstar also has a better sound system & 16mm extra ground clearance.
I'm in the US, wishing we still had the Fit... over here drooling about 56 MPG. Not looking forward to when my 3rd gen bites the bullet. Though it's still going strong at 65,000 miles!
This little big car is amazing, I have in mind of buying, usually town driving but also for long journeys, like 1-2k road trips. 1. My question is, how it handle during long journey? 2. Seems comfortable in front but what about the rear passenger seats? 3. How about the engine, as seems small for long highways. 4. Can you fit 3 small children on the back(I know is small car but on the back is huge compared with most of the small/mid-size cars)
What you are missing is that we as older generation is that we want a simple system ❗️ In have a Civic Tyre R and and a Jazz as a second car, Know more said 👍🏻😊
We have a 2018 model bought new,and my biggest moan was the ride on the motorway on a round trip,, was not as comfortable as my old Kia Venga, but everything else is practically perfect,I like the idea of the hybrid, and am shocked that the mileage per gallon is similar when mine is a 103 vtec. and the new one is 1.5 ,so that's excellent.I think in the new year i will test drive the new model in Grantham and see what price i can swap over with, mines did 19000 miles bfn thanks for this excellent video, Oh and does this mean the suspension has been upgraded somewhat.
I like this car but it’s expensive for what it is so I ended up buying Suzuki Ignis instead which is still practical, spacious and excellent fuel mileage.
I ran one for 250 miles a week £20.00 fuel. It’s the perfect small car and the best hybrid solution on the market for the current time when electric is to expensive and the compromise electric car drivers make just isn’t worth it
I think your comment on the car only going into electric only mode in “very low speeds” is not accurate. Unless you believe 60 mpg and over are very low speeds. I regularly go on motorway and sit at 60mph and more often than not it goes into electric mode.
A very good point is your last one. They have terrific access...so easy especially for aging people who don't want SUV's.I also had a Civic but traded it for a Jazz after a year because access was poor.
I live in the US and really love this car, but they discontinued it over here :( people don’t like small cars in America I guess. I have a 2009 and it’s way better than I ever could’ve asked for. Having some trouble with the battery now but it’s pretty old so that’s understandable
Americans want big cars they can't afford. Worked at a Honda dealership at the point they got discontinued, we would have 40 civics, 50 crvs, etc. And like 3 Fits on the lot, clearly nobody wanted them.
If ideal driving conditions permit, petrol consumption can be better than stated. I had to take a photo of the Trip Computer at the end of a journey when it read 73.7mpg. Hondas are less thirsty than they used to be. With the uncertainty of fuel prices, it is something for car purchasers to consider if they don't fancy an electric car.
Rather sadly Honda Australia made a decision to withdraw the Jazz from circulation in 2020. There is no alternative offered by Honda so they will lose a lot of customers with the decision. I've had three Jazz over more than a decade after owning several other marques and they are the best in their category for me.
If there had been a fit/jazz here in the states I would have gotten it in a heartbeat. I gave a 2017 fit and love it. Honda missed the mark by not advertising them here in The states.
Brilliant car. It is somehow distinctive without to much design effort. Practicality, comfort and interior are really incredible. Polo, Fiesta...just can't match this, they are so dull and obsolete. Especially cheaper VAG variants. 208 has its own flirty things and for me it is the only competitor.
I have the Jazz and recently drove the 208 GT. Agree it is the only competitor when it comes to driving experience but in terms of space, nothing in the class can beat the Jazz ;)
Question...is the Jazz the only car on the market where the back seats fold totally flat. It is a terrific advantage for those who are looking for the feature. I know of a courier who finds it a big plus. Great for dogs too.
I think it is. It’s a terrific feature . I’ve even carried a dining table upside down in the back of my Jazz because when you put the back seats down , you get a completely flat storage area with no ‘lip”.
Currently have 2nd gen Auto Qashqai which I’m not happy with, though it has a 1.3 CVT engine, it’s noisy and economy is not good. Thinking about this model. I live in London and most of our journey is local and rarely use the car. How is the ECVT of this car?
We have the magic seats on our mk9 Civic and they are brilliant. Would definitely consider one of these as a replacement. I have seen a new Jazz with a lighter two tone coloured interior which looked really good, do you know which trim level this is available on?
Had a ride in a friend’s Jazz - everything impressed, except the seats. No lumbar support at all. So it is a no go for me. (Also no spare wheel - even as an option!)
@@wms1530 First long journey I took the family on we had a puncture. Had to call the AA, ended up adding a full three hours to our 200 mlie journey, no exageration.
Very interesting video, well presented, clear and without gimmicks, which makes for a treat. Would be interesting to understand what take the Jazz actually has on being a hybrid- the battery seems to work at low speeds doesn't make it clear what is going on? So what hybrid features are there?
When you're driving the car is constantly juggling the battery and the engine. In theory the battery can only take this thing about a kilometer, apparently, but the recharging from the engine and the regenerative braking keep the battery topped up and the car will use the battery when it can, which is much of the time. This is how it gets the superb MPG, it's also why it's so quiet, especially at low speeds when it's totally silent. Quite spooky ...
Thanks great review. Valuable. I live in New Zealand and we only have one hybrid version, the Jazz e:HEV Luxe. I assume it is the equivalent to the EX version you have referred to. Seems to have leather seats and lost of electronics.
Did you ever see a Fit ad in the USA? Automakers successfully brainwashed the American public that they must own a pricey 4-wheel drive SUV and Fit sales declined thus 2020 was the last year of Fit (Jazz) in the USA. This would be an outstanding choice for Americans not yet ready for an EV.
I drived it for 3 days as a rental I love it in the city verry easy to drive especialy when the engine is turned off Bit the downside is the engine is lowd and long trimps on motorway not verry confortable,so better to be used inside the city,it would be niccer if it was fully electric
With every new Jazz there is more room for the passengers in the back, to much even, lesser room in the boot and hardly enough room in the front if You're over 5'8". And with the new one, there's 'the nose'😬, although with the Crosstar it's more oké. Why not an inch extra for the frontseating-area, two inches for the boot. For the rest, a nice practical car, the previous (petrol-engine) version ( 2019 1.3L CVT) was already capable of doing 65mpg and the new (hybrid) Jazz, being ~150 kg heavier, roadtax in the Netherlands is more expensive
My daily driver hybrid Jazz is the mutts and so far Cvt and antifreeze serviced after 10 years. The battery pack no i code yet. I have looked at the latest videos of the new Jazz, that droopy style nose and the double clutch system is a downer for me.

I have had the Crosstar version of the Jazz for about 8 months now and I love it. Mid to high 60’s mpg in the summer, low 60’s in the winter. Plus, the Crosstar gets a better stereo.
Better stereo... but no blind spot information, no cross traffic monitor and no heated steering wheel.
In your dreams it does 90mpg in town, more like 52mpg in town and 60mpg motorways.
@@toxlaximus3297 I've been experimenting with real mpg for 20 years, you've nailed it.
It is possible to get 95mpg in a Jazz - see Fish Brothers from Swindon but note an average speed of 40 mph!
But its a waste of the 0-60 in 8.6 seconds, it can play with the big boys. :D
And all this in 1 (one!), but extremely long sentence without a single punctuation mark... 😉
alan mason ......yould get better mileage if you ate less pies and watched your diet
does this car have a navigation system?
@@nasserjabiNo, unfortunately. However you can use your Apple phone with wireless connectivity. If you have Android, you will need a cable.
I love the Jazz, I bought a Premium Crystal Red EX version in May 2021. My previous car was a Kia Sportage.
How many miles on the battery alone?
@@redpillnibbler4423 very hard to tell as 600 miles to the tank living in Jersey we crawl around the island but most of the time it’s in electric air con constantly in use summer time not tried in winter.
If they stuck this new model into a slightly revised version of the previous design, it would’ve been really good
Missing was safety feature review/rating, average life time ownership costs, repair history comparison, resale value.
At last! A more objective appraisal, thank you.
The main difference is higher ground clearance. It also has a the best stereo among all of the Jazz trims available.
My children are mostly muddy too 😀
I'm in the US, wishing we still had the Fit... over here drooling about 56 MPG.
Honda stopped this in the US 2 years ago. Was looking for the new generation to come here but it never did.
I like this car but it’s expensive for what it is so I ended up buying Suzuki Ignis instead which is still practical, spacious and excellent fuel mileage.
Sad that most of the U.S. market hates small/subcompact vehicles. Other global markets get some really nice ones.
I ran one for 250 miles a week £20.00 fuel. It’s the perfect small car and the best hybrid solution on the market for the current time when electric is to expensive and the compromise electric car drivers make just isn’t worth it
I’ve driven 350 miles ish for £0. Try that with a hybrid.
@@EVMan298 ok. Try 650 with £0 spent
@@EVMan298 how is the LEAF going? Good car but it ain't no Honda.
@@akie64 I don’t have a Leaf.
I think your comment on the car only going into electric only mode in “very low speeds” is not accurate. Unless you believe 60 mpg and over are very low speeds. I regularly go on motorway and sit at 60mph and more often than not it goes into electric mode.
On a light throttle it will go in to EV mode at 70mph on the motorway. I'm getting 67 mpg at present. Fantastic car,
Great review. Think I would be tempted by the Crosstar as to me it looks much better. Happy New Year Doug :-)
I like it. Too bad we don't get these cars in the US.
I have a mercedes slk at the moment the Jazz is my intended replacement! Comfort, reliability, running costs.....& easier to get in & out of.
A very good point is your last one. They have terrific access...so easy especially for aging people who don't want SUV's.I also had a Civic but traded it for a Jazz after a year because access was poor.
I run a 2004 Jazz with 63,000 miles on the clock. I am wondering whether to replace the brake pipes or buy this new model.
How many miles on the battery alone?
Sad that where I am jazz is no more, always liked how jazz is as a family car
6:40 Good filming and editing.
Had a great test drive of the new Jazz in January and then ordered the Jazz EX Style.
I live in the US and really love this car, but they discontinued it over here :( people don’t like small cars in America I guess. I have a 2009 and it’s way better than I ever could’ve asked for. Having some trouble with the battery now but it’s pretty old so that’s understandable
Same in Australia. I’ve had 3 Honda Jazz cars and loved each one. Devastated there is no option to buy a 4th.
Americans want big cars they can't afford. Worked at a Honda dealership at the point they got discontinued, we would have 40 civics, 50 crvs, etc. And like 3 Fits on the lot, clearly nobody wanted them.
Yes. My 2nd Jazz. My very favourite. No more in Australia. Don’t know a good thing when they see it
I've shown the rear end of our Jazz to a lot of BMW's, Audi's and Merc's, constant variable transmission with electric motors can shift some.
I like the rear seat folding mechanism...
I'm getting this exact colour which is the Premium Opal Pearl. Can't wait! Thanks for the awesome reviews, it made my decision much easier. Cheers!
How is the drive on the highway ? Noisy ? Confortable for long distance ?
Rather sadly Honda Australia made a decision to withdraw the Jazz from circulation in 2020. There is no alternative offered by Honda so they will lose a lot of customers with the decision. I've had three Jazz over more than a decade after owning several other marques and they are the best in their category for me.
100% agree I love the Jazz and I am so SAD the Jazz is not coming back to Australia it is the best small car I have ever had!
If there had been a fit/jazz here in the states I would have gotten it in a heartbeat. I gave a 2017 fit and love it. Honda missed the mark by not advertising them here in The states.
The new fabia and face-lifted Ibiza both have soft touch dashboards, polo always has
who cares, some just want a car that is comfortable, super reliable, practical and safe, the Jazz ticks all those boxes.
19 yr old jazz with 120k on the clock. Indeed reliability.
These reviewa are just the best bettter then other bigger youtubers
Currently have 2nd gen Auto Qashqai which I’m not happy with, though it has a 1.3 CVT engine, it’s noisy and economy is not good. Thinking about this model. I live in London and most of our journey is local and rarely use the car. How is the ECVT of this car?
Excellent 👍🏻
We have the magic seats on our mk9 Civic and they are brilliant. Would definitely consider one of these as a replacement. I have seen a new Jazz with a lighter two tone coloured interior which looked really good, do you know which trim level this is available on?
Crosstar
The car is recommended in SR trim but that has no SatNav?
Had a ride in a friend’s Jazz - everything impressed, except the seats. No lumbar support at all. So it is a no go for me. (Also no spare wheel - even as an option!)
The lack of Spare Wheel on any brand of car, is a deal breaker for us.
@@wms1530 First long journey I took the family on we had a puncture. Had to call the AA, ended up adding a full three hours to our 200 mlie journey, no exageration.
What colour is it?. Platinum white pearl or sunlight white pearl?. Nice review and great car.
Really bummed they cancelled these in north America.
Honda managed to take what they make best out of the Jazz, a manual transmission.
Can we get it in the US of A? Is it the hybrid version of the Fit?
Honda my favourite brand...And they last for decades.
I stayed with my 1.6 diesel Astra and it’s 66 mpg also has a big boot and better ride comfort
its a shame that we dont have this version of the Honda Fit in the USA. Maybe in a couple years.🙏
Sad not to see these in the states, guess I'll just have to get an hrv becos Murica, gotta be big
anybody know where we can purchase this infotainment system ?
How does this compare to the Yaris hybrid
Have they sorted the rust problem, second hand Jazzs are shocking for rust underneath.
Still upsetting that this car was discontinued here in the States. WHY??!!
I have an old one, and is very happy with that.
Can you tell me what is the name of color on this model, its normal white or that white blue pearl?
Just picked mine up.
😎👍
I wish Australia would take them on. I loved my old Jazz.
I like new jazz but my 1st gen keep running and running so cannot move on...
Mine does as well. Would not replace with anything else.
Keep ’em!
I have the same problem, my CRV just won’t quit on me. Honda engines are so reliable, it’s a problem!
You recommend the mid range car but test the top of the range, and you always do that.
I would like to buy a new Honda Jazz 2022 I live Australia where can I buy one from?
You cannot get one of these in Oz. It’s been discontinued in 2020, sorry.
Do new Honda Jazz owners ever owned or driven for 3-5 months a VW Golf or Polo 5-7 ? Which did you like better - aside for gas mileage I mean.
Please give us a solid visual demonstration of the features on the new jazz without us having to consult the manual each time.
Very accurate assessment prefer ex model , good value!
I drived it for 3 days as a rental
I love it in the city verry easy to drive especialy when the engine is turned off
Bit the downside is the engine is lowd and long trimps on motorway not verry confortable,so better to be used inside the city,it would be niccer if it was fully electric
