Unboxing the New Walther PDP Pistol

- When I first saw the press coming from Walther for their new Performance Duty Pistol (PDP), I was instantly excited to get it in my hands and take it to the range. There are a handful of reasons why this pistol has got me pumped. For starters, we haven’t been seeing a ton of new releases so far in 2021. Well, at least not when you compare it to a normal year that has an in-person SHOT Show.
It also seems that due to the record-setting volume of guns sold in 2020, many manufacturers are still trying to play catch-up instead of releasing something new during the typical media hype of the early year. To see something new and innovative was a refresher.
I like the big serrations. Makes a pistol look mean!! That's a great looking pistol!
Yes it is.
Looks like they really paid attention and updated the issues with the PPQ. The grip texture looks interesting for sure.
First day at range w/ my PPQ, I managed to perform an unplanned drop safety test. It's just too smooth not enough stippling. Fantastic platform, best out of the box polymer gun trigger ever.
"We call that 'Midwest thick' around here" 😂
The best get better now with PDP.
This reminds me of the Beretta APX Centurion.
Absolutely. They definitely took the slide serrations out of Beretta's APX book forshor
I love the grip. Great texture, great geometry, fills the palm but allows you to really crush that sucker.
Wish they would go back to the paddle style mag release. Anyone that was saying they wished for the button release was lying.
I like the H&K paddle release as well. I know Walther had them at one time.
Those serrations and grip textures are sexy.
And aggressive
Oooof. I just picked up a M&p 2.0 4”. This thing looks sexy. Might need a new handgun. 2 is better than 1
Two is one , and one is none 😂
Nothing wrong with a backup 👍🏻
Just bought the 4" compact version today. Great texture and ergonomics. One point to add... for the normal folks, it DOES NOT ship with optics plates. I was looking for the RMR plate which was absent. However, it will come with a piece of paper that says to go to the Walther website and request which optic that you intend to use, and they will ship one out to you. This way you are not paying for unnecessary optic plates.
Thanks for sharing. Good info.
Keep in mind that the PPQ magazines are only compatible with the compact PDP. The full size Peety P. takes 18 rd mags that are physically longer than the PPQ mags. I did read somewhere that Canik 18 rd mags work.
I have a PPQ M2 and honestly I see enough improvement on the PDP that I want one ASAP. LOL
Magazines should be compatible as well. More good news. Gun looks nice. I have a PPQ also and love it. Always need one more.
What about the trigger though? No one mentions the PDP's
Grip texture is from the Q4 & Q5 Steel Frame
Who the hell is not pitching this gun right now? lol. I've seen a dozen videos on it in the last damn 24 hours for effs sake. I mean I love it, I'm likely going to get one but jeepers man, Walther wasn't messing around with the marketing on this one.
They seemed to have made sure all the 'names' in guns/pistol reviews had one to hype at/before it's release, that's for sure.... (We'll see h ow long it takes Hikok45 to get one!)
seems like they've been out of game lately, had to step it up especially with this gun craze, good move on their part.
Your not joking. Did you see the short movie Walther made to advertise how the pdp can be used for duty and self defense lol. No expense spare on promotion
@@rt1326 I would agree, haven't seen much from them in a long time, the PPQ really right? So it makes sense that they're going over the top with this given how friggin' absolutely awesome it looks, love that grip texture and the deep cut serrations.
@@wesleywu1180 I did see that, it has that sort of "every man" dude that ends up in the grocery store and the law enforcement guys that show up to the same store, pretty cool video actually. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of this gun and will likely get one but man, they're letting people know it's coming that's for sure.
The only thing I think the original PPQ has that is superior (besides the paddle mag release on the m1) is a slimmer slide profile for CCW carry. I really want to get the PDP, but I have some hesitation about putting that monster under my shirt for appendix carry. The button mag release looks like it might rub as well. Otherwise it does look like a brilliant redesign.
Monster?????? Bruh I’m barely 200lb I carry a 1911 /G20/ and compacts all the same lol you need a different setup!!! Look up the Enigma by PHlster.
Rear sight cuts fit Glock rear sights
Grip texture reminds me of the Honor Guard.
I am not an operator type guy but as an average Joe that has 4 years military service I would say the new Walther PDP is:
- feels & is fat like the Glock 30/21
- weight is 25.4 oz (full-size) / 24.4 oz (compact)
- good shooting firearm
- best for pro use (police i.e. _PDP,_ military, & home defense for avg. folk)
- not for CCW/concealed carry, even the PDP compact (its big)
God bless
I wished it was a little thinner for comfortable CC. That's the only thing holding me back on this pistol 😢
@@riverwalker2173 Yes, it is more of a duty gun. *_Maybe_* there will be a PDP slim line like the Glock 43X. We will see.
Nice but I’m waiting for the Subcompact Variant
If it has the same grip size as the PPQ M2 ,I am sold on it ! For people with small hands and short fingers the ppq is great ! I want to try this one for size! It improves your tactical mag change times and of course accuracy.
Your the only person I know who received a mounting plate with your gun.
That thing is a beauty.
My second handgun was a walther(well really a SW/walther collab...the SW99) I’d love to see how this thing shoots. And yeah she look thicc.
Full video review coming soon!
Reset is from trigger release not trigger pull.
Nice Gun 👍🏻
Yes it is.
@@Gunscom I had the PPQ as my Carry-Gun for 1 year now and I absolutely love it ...
Reliable, accurate and grate ergonomics , the best one I had in a while
I highly recommend Walthers products...
Thanks for the “pre-“ view
Looking forward to the full review
Great job guys and stay save out there 👍🏻
What a great gun 🔫
Yes, it looks good!
Hurry up and take my damn money
Cool piece.
Kindda’ like Glock meets Beretta APX!
I’ve not shot a Walther yet!!! But this PDP looks T2000’ish Terminator look to it...just like my APX!
Even the case is sexy 😍 mine has been delayed but just got confirmation that it will arrive on Wednesday, can't wait ✌
It will have to join the family with my P99 and PPQ. It takes PPQ mags which is nice.
I’m thinking this may be my CCW
Great looking firearm. I own the PPQ and happy magazines for the PPQ with work with the PDP. I hate when manufacturers release a new model and previous generation magazines don’t work. That’s the one thing Glock does right for sure amount other things but that is a big one.
We agree. Thanks for the comment Brian.
So this is the new Walther Gun? Looks fantastic. Darn it. Now, I'm torn between thus and getting the Semi-autoVR-80 Shotgun and either an AR-15 or M4 to my list.
I hope Walther made a duty holster for their duty version.... can't carry it on duty if there's no holster to fit it....
The olight of gun advertisement🤣.
olights work great though... lmao
@@mach533x most of the models do but some of them just do quite cut it however ive had tremendous success with my olight pro valkyrie so far plan on getting the Odin and see if that works as well.
I hope to god they make a .40 and .45 for it as well
Feel better!
I hope Steyr bring out a gun that rivals this now.
did you have to lubricate before first use?
Sweet gun. Looks very nice.
When shooting did you ride the slide lock so it didn't lock back ? Almost every reviewer had a problem it not locking back on last round. I have a compact on the way I'm sure I'll have the same problem thanks
Are you guys going to get it in stock?
The gun is magnificent. It's the only firearm I have ever owned where I didn't have to add deck safety non-skid tape to the area where my thumb grips the firearm as well as my trigger finger. Awesome. And the trigger is very nice.
This should be 007's next gun!
Ah, the new Walther. I asked Q to get me one of these.
@@HGates-hl4eq I still love the P99.
I definitely want one ..
Looks alot like a redressed Hk VP9
Still sucks for PPQsc owners who can't find 15 round or any extended mags even before this gundemic. Nor any +2 baseplates. Not to mention our mags aren't interchangable. Regardless, got damnit gotta get this one too.
Pdp or cz p10c or Glock 17 ?
Glock should be nervous. Once enough people looking about this gun. Shoots better and it's cheaper by over$100.00!! Matters for first time gun owners or first polymer gun owners.
Will likely fit more hands... VERY important... More than anything pretty much... Glocks feel like you're holding a small 2 by 4
On my to get list.
Sorry the new girl just isn't as hot as my current girl the PPQ M2. I don't see a need to switch or buy this new gun. I see anything compelling me to buy this new one. So they took the frame of the Steel Frame and changed the PPQ M2 mold to match the SF model. I hope this isn't a PPQ replacement because between this is more like the PPX or the Creed.
Yea ok LOL.
Does anyone know if the Crossroads of the West Gun Show still on in Phoenix AZ on 02/20/2021???
Very nice !
A little benadryl pre vid works wonders for those sniffles brah
Ahh...Beretta APXish.
So... the new Walther Pew DiePew...
If you don't already on a Walther or HK VP9....though, possibly the VP9 might still feel better in more hands. ...I'm sure there will soon be PDV vs VP9 videos coming...
I want it.
Is this Gun Massachusetts Compliment ?
So it's designed to be a Duty gun, but is there Duty holsters available for this gun? Will be useless without a duty holster.
Very aggressive design screaming "don't touch me"!
what leather holster you recommend for the pdp?
Does that pistol come in a 10 mm I am sick of the 9 mm
That's what we call mid-west thicc
fine work price in Us Dollars?
Will PDP fit in PPQ m2 4 inch holsters.
How much?
Oooooooooew! That's a big one.
Looks like a PPQ with an optics cut and the same Walther subpar customer service that comes with it
well hello!
Lemme guess..
Not Massachusetts compliant
Would love this w/ PPQ M1 paddles.. I know.. I know.. I'm in the minority.. #PaddlesRule
Essa é top!!
I don’t know this guy but if I wanted to buy one I’ll bet they wouldn’t have any or the price would be marl plus , plus, plus, in other words gouging, I’m sick of these pricks who get the latest guns and free ammunition when we can’t get diddelly squat
3,500 9mm rounds thru this >new< gun that Mr. Curtis can use? And i can't find a box of 50 ($50.00 for 50) ...$1.00 each round. Wow... Wonder if I can even buy it. 😐
Any idea on where to buy in Sugarland, TX?
Try Xtreme guns and Ammo in Rosenberg
I love Sugarland. I just love Texas.
Sell me on why the PDP over my PPQ M1 or VP9SK 🤔 Paddles > buttons
They do the same thing, like instead of getting another 15/17+1 9mm get into a different caliber for when you can’t find 9mm 😂
@@someguy5444 I have a Walther P99C here in 40 I was going to sell to a friend last year & he never got around to shooting it. I found a decent stash of ammo I had for it & kept it 👍 Well stocked on 9 & 45.......feel very bad for those newbies paying $50/box for Tula 9mm steel case I saw at the shop this week 😢 Shotgun shells readily available worst case for new folks.....
@@cjbecker1683 yeah the Tula ammo prices are just spitting in the mouth of new guys.
I agree. I don’t think most Americans agree.
@@jaytay7989 No they don't but if they used them more they may 😉
Firing 1000+rounds of various 9 mm. will prove its reliability and durability to be a duty pistol.
One single malfunction during gunfight would be fatal for officers' lives.
Yeah but sometimes malfunctions happen because of the user so....
$1,009 on your website?!?!?!? No thanks
First time panic buyers are already getting wet
I keep trying to figure out why my gun came with 3 mags and all of these unboxing videos only have 2 mag's? You all were cheated out of 1 mag.
Is yours a pro model?
@@jaytay7989 no clue. It's just the mid size. I guess I just got lucky
first thing i do is toss the case
?==HOW MUCH DID YOU $$$$$
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Bubble wrap grip texture.
AM-BI-DEX-TROUS, not AMBI-DEX-TR(I)OUS. There is NO (I) at the end of the word.
Under Biden's 10 round mag limit, wouldn't this gun be illegal?
Zero chance thats getting passed
#Hideous
Great gun, seemingly, if only it was available...
I'm sure Biden will help
Who does an unboxing without mentioning the caliber of the pistol? Guns.com, that’s who!!! Duhhhhh!!! Thumbs down 👎👎👎👎👎 and I’m unsubscribing!!!
The word is ambidextrous not ambidextrious all I axe is you speak english
It takes you so long to get to the point. You just ramble.
