I’m so glad I ran into this video ! Can you please tell me what roller frame and pole your using. And also what’s the UV protection like? I’m from Southern California and my pool deck gets absolutely zero shade. And I subscribed ti both of you 🫡
@@thatsallfolks3115 18" frame, 3/8" to 1/2" nap will work fine. Pretty resistant to UV and can be recoated years down the line with power wash and recoat.
crazy u made this video. I literally just posted a similar video this weekend. the pool deck we did was better structurally. (no cracks) We used a tinted sealer (not translucent) that is not paint. The concrete supplier we use actually tints it in the shop, they can do tons of colors so it's an acrylic sealer. not a paint. not water based. we just power washed it and as hot as it was last week it dried in an hour. of course just like w stamp concrete you can blow dry it w a leaf blower. I prefer the 3/4 roller as well. i couldn't tell if it was the same product we use, I think it is, but the say it's not a paint, it's a sealer, but I really am thinking about offering this as a service, especially since it is getting harder and harder to get concrete. but overall I think it made her pool deck look basicly brand new again. it's crazy when u see another creator post a video that is basically the same video as you!!!! (btw the stuff we used is called a sealer but it's more like a paint but they Def say it's not a paint) we only needed to do 1 coat. so it may not have been the same stuff
the thing about the stuff we used it has xyelene in it, so if it has solvent based sealer on it prior too it will bond because I t obviously re-emusifys the prior sealer. I like how u went over 3 products to be able to get at least an 8 min video. because like I said w only 1 product there was just not enough to talk about w only 1 product. I watch your channel not only to learn about concrete stuff that I may do a different way or maybe have never seen like turning the chute around backwards for basements but I also like to watch your videos to learn about youtube stuff like the affiliate links or different things like how to talk to a customer. I was talking to my buddy from Cadillac concrete products and he said he knows you too and had good things to say about you
Looks great but in the Northeast. I can’t see it lasting more than 5 Freeze , thaw cycles without breaking apart. Old time masons always say never coat concrete
Hi Mike, Awesome info and videos, thank you. 🙏 I have one quick question, that concrete hand held grinder… can you tell me the make, model and what disc pad you utilized? Was it connected to a vacuum? Can you tell me which one that was? Thanks again.👍
I painted a basement floor with one coat of Sherwin Williams (SW) mistinted Emerald paint (got it cheap) and two coats of SW Porch and Floor. Do you think it would be worthwhile to paint one more coat with SW Armorseal? Or, not worth it?
Great content as always. It looks like Sherwin Williams isn't going to have any of their elastomeric products for a year or 2. Not sure why, but they are really falling behind the curve with industrial coatings since last year. Cheers Mike & crew!
Great video. I have an issue with my concrete around my in-ground pool it’s Stained with sherwin Williams H an C ColorTop. I power wash and clean the concrete every year before staining I’m trying to figure out why the concrete stain is peeling every year i get the same results.I contacted Sherwin Williams. Seen this video looking for some help. Thank you.
I use quartz crystal blends- s grade in polyphatic resin. Double broadcast. With a texture coat on top. So durable natural antiskid. Awesome for pool patios
Great video! What grinder do you recommend to use to remove that top layer? Maybe where I can buy something similar to the handheld grinder that you used on this job. Thanks
I had Mortex Kool Deck invented in 1962 can't get anything cooler to walk on bear foot., I'm in AZ where it's hotter then hell in the summer. I had been talked into acrylic lace that stuff was like walking on hot coals in the summer. After about 10 years it peeled up in sheets that Acrylic lace.
@@Guvnor1923 Haven't called them yet I think the price will be high to remove the old stuff well see. Probably getting too hot to install it even if they say it can be done I'm not so sure rather wait till the fall. Unless it's super expensive I'm going to have the Mortex Kool Deck put back in like it was prior to 2007.
Hi Mike. Just love your video and helped so much. Can you please tell me the color that you used in the above video when painting the pool deck?. Would like to use the same color myself. Thanks so much..
Love your channel, I'm learning so much. Im getting ready to paint/coat my pool deck and am considering grinding instead of pressure washing it like you did in this video. Is the grinder tool your using something that can be rented?
@Mike Day Thank you for your service of sharing your expertise! Do you recommend this for garage floors? If not, then what do you recommend? Thanks in advance.
God I wish you guys were local cause I had a concrete surface poured last fall in back of my home and the people who did it had no freaking clue what they were doing. Long story short, I need need to have the whole surface refinished and sealed cause it looks absolutely horrid.
what do you think about a thin coat of quickcrete to repair? need to work out a solution for my dads house. ill keep this paint in mind and being from NJ i should get it fast
Extremely helpful video,do you have to keep a wet edge, would you experience a difference if you roll the edges and roll a few minutes later? Do you charge by the square footage? I would like to start doing this because it looks profitable
I pressure washed my patio good, and took it down to the concrete in most areas, but some previous paint will not come off. There is no flaking at all, but wonder if I can still paint right over what existing paint there is, or do I have to etch or prime the patio first? Advise needed badly :)
I have 2000 square feet of concrete that was coated with resurfacer 15 years ago. Half of it has popped up. It was colored with bright white. Could this work if I ground the concrete smooth?
I called my local Sherwin Williams and Lowe’s and neither of them carry them. Is there another location to try or a similar product from a different brand? Thanks
I just put on Foundation Armor SX5000 sealant on my new concrete decking. Looking to color the concrete. Would this product bond properly over my sealant? If not, is there another product you recommend?
My friend from grade schools Concrete Company went under, handed down from his Dad, been running since before '91 when I started hanging with him on BMX bikes, not sure what happened or why it closed. Kinda a bummer.
No. Any dirt, leaf, sand or anything that gets on it stands out shockingly bad. Have to clean it everyday. I wish I'd made some kind of pattern in coloring. Anything would've looked better.
Hi Mike, my pool has what I've been told is something called cool pad? You have to stipple it and then trowl down the stippling. In my opinion, it was a botched job, because they didn't trowel the stipling well, so you can't walk barefooted on it in a lot of places and there are several places where it's coming up off the concrete. My question is how would you redo this?
as a pool tech... "prep real nice" would actually include removing the deck anchors for the safety cover. painting over them instantly strips the head making them almost impossible to unscrew... and after currsing the guy that painted over them... when we finally get them up so the cover can be installed again... each head will rip a nice hole in your fancy new deck coating.
I have a few questions for you. How does this Mapecoat coating work on a concrete carport? Does it do ok with car tires on it? Any suggestions for that type of application? I have just a porch and patio paint on there now and it is flaking very bad especially after all the rains we got this last winter. Thanks!

In Midwest best to use color dye mixed in with the motar. No worries of peeling, flaking etc. 👍
Looks nice in the beginning but how long does that product last and when it starts to peel you have to repeat the whole process.
Hi Mike. Incredibly inspirational video. For the 9" hand grinder, what type of blade did you use?
Yo Miike, any thoughts on the H&C Acryla Deck "Cool Feel"?
