    Awesome video! Regarding the most difficult step…I did not disengage the tabs, and I did not detach the two black plastic cylinders to fix my 650cm. That step is not necessary because the screws are right under the turbine. Just remove the 8mm nut and pull the turbine off to reveal the screws and screw them back in. Thank you, Steve’s garage - you saved me from having to buy a new leaf blower! 😊

      Thanks for the detailed comment! I'll be sure to pin this for anyone else who has the same issue but might have a different model blower. Not having to buy a new leaf blower is great! I'm glad these Egos are still rocking!

    Your instructions were very clear. FYI. I did not need to separate the black blower tub; I was able to remove the turbine screw and easy the turbine loose with pliers. I had one screw complete dislodged. Easy 1/2 hour project fix. Thank you.

      Glad it helped, thanks for describing your experience as well! Quick fix, and it should last. I haven't had an issue with mine since posting this video.

    Same exact thing happened to my EGO 650 blower. I took it apart and retightened the screws (all were loose) as per this video. One of the screws had back out so much that it damaged the turbine housing (guess that was the grinding noise). Hopefully, balance is still good. It feels and sounds good now, maybe a very slight vibration. Only difficulty was pulling turbine off. There was an embedded washer it was stuck to after nut removal.
    I could have gone through warranty, but just didn't want to deal with the process. I've had this blower 2 years and have really, really used the heck out of it, so I'm not complaining. I have several EGO products and quality has always impressed me, so it seems strange that it is still an issue. Guess they should be using loctite or similar, like you did. Anyway, thank you !!!

      Glad the video helped! I had used my blower for 3 years at the time of the repair, and use it a ton as well. I'll even use it to blow snow if it's light enough. I own a couple different tools as well and have never had a problem. Definitely seems like a minor design flaw, but luckily easily repaired!

    I just bought 2 new EGO 670 blowers and they both make a king of Geiger counter sound when it detects radiation on low speed only. Wondering if I should return them. To much money and probably voids the warranty. Thoughts?

    • @StevesGarage
      @StevesGarage  5 місяців тому

      If they're making noise out of the box I'd return them. I wouldn't be digging into something brand new. When I did this repair it was a couple years old with plenty of use.

    Thanks for the video. I don't have an EGO, but my Bosch blower makes a similar kind rattling of noise when the fan runs at a low speed, if not a little louder. Unfortunately it arrived like that.
    It's kind of a pain to have to ship it back etc. If it's as simple as looking for loose screws, it might be worth it to have a look
    Edit: I unscrewed the fan and checked the screws that attach to the motor unit, but they were ok. It's something in the motor unit itself that makes the noise. I'm probably going to send it back.

    • @StevesGarage
      @StevesGarage  Рік тому

      I'd definitely send it back if it seems to be defective out of the box. No need to waste money on a broken product!
      I'm glad the video sort of helped you out with a different brand though! Thanks for commenting!

    I have the lb6000 backpack blower and its a similar set-up but after removing the 8mm nut I am still unable to remove the turbine from the shaft. It just spins and spins. Any ideas? 2:52

      I don't have any experience with that blower, so I'm not sure how much help I can be. Is it' possible it's stuck or 'seated' in place? Maybe a good yank with some pliers?

    When reassembling there's a little gold flat piece that doesn't connect to anything but looks like it pressure fits near the other wires to the motor. Is that a grounding wire? If so, should I make sure it's touching part of the motor?

    • @StevesGarage
      @StevesGarage  2 роки тому +1

      I'm pretty sure it is a grounding wire. From what I remember it should be contacting a little metal part on the motor itself. You can always put it back together and test it before tightening all the screws down.

    Great video. Somehow I have a broken fan blade which is causing a terrible noise. Do you know if it's possible to get a replacement fan?

    • @StevesGarage
      @StevesGarage  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you! From what I can tell the fan blade and tube are sold as an assembly and it's called a 'ducted set'. I'm not sure if you have the 530CFM, but the part number for that one is 2824335001. Check out www.jackssmallengines.com You can search by your model, get a parts diagram, and order replacement parts.

      @@StevesGarage Thanks for the info and the link! It figures the piece I need is the most expensive piece. I only need the fan which is tops a $20 piece and they want $95. I wish they just sold the fan. Oh well I'll use the blower for parts for my other blower. Thanks for the help.

    • @StevesGarage
      @StevesGarage  3 роки тому

      @@notta3d I was thinking the same thing! You have to open up the blower anyway, I can't believe they only offer it as a complete assembly. Maybe you can find one for parts on eBay or something? Though I feel like they're still pretty new so I don't know that people have reached the point where they're being 'parted out'. Happy to help, good luck with the blower!

    My blower has developed some play in the tube housing where it attaches to the body... Do you think it could be something loose inside?

    • @StevesGarage
      @StevesGarage  2 роки тому +1

      If it's just play between the tube and the body I wouldn't think so? Is there any kind of noise to indicate something is loose?

    I have a lb7650. Very very little use and Im already having a connection issue with the battery. Ive seen a couple videos of people saying it backed out too far, but mine seems to be inwards too far. I noticed if I slam the battery in too get in place as far as possible, it will lose connection until I pull backwards on it slightly. Any ideas? Id rather know what to look for before I disassemble it rather than do a complete teardown with no idea what's going on.

      I have both the leaf blower and the Mult-Head and haven't experienced this. Is there dirt or grime in the channels or connection that are keeping it from seating properly?

      @@StevesGarage nope. I've checked and brushed off what little bit was there. I started having this issue almost immediately after unboxing. @@StevesGarage it's my first Ego tool so I only have the one battery. All I've done at this point is brush off the contacts on the other device and battery. I guess I'll be taking it apart next in hope its something obvious. Otherwise I may be throwing the parts cannon at it.

    my 765 blower runs for a few minutes then shuts off with the solid red lights on the battery then i have to disconnect the battery and reinstall it then it works for 30 seconds and shuts off again, tried a different battery and still shuts off and lights are red on battery with full charge

    • @StevesGarage
      @StevesGarage  Рік тому

      The fact that it happened on two batteries is interesting. Do you think there could be a problem with your charger? I've read about chargers not functioning properly and saying the battery is fully charged when it isn't. You can also try doing a battery reset just to rule them out.
      If it's not the charger or battery my next step would be opening up the blower and looking for a loose or broken wire that could be causing a short.

      Get the lowest profile tool you can. The thing I was using is actually a butter knife that is ground down to have a round flat end. If you're having a lot of trouble you could use something like a blow dryer to heat up the plastic a bit which should help. Be careful doing that though as you don't want to damage or deform the plastic.
