- 10 Brands: Ryobi, EGO, Milwaukee 18 and 36V, Dewalt 20V and 60V, Greenworks, Atlas 80V, Makita, Enhulk. Battery powered air blowers tested for maximum air speed, CFM, run time, leaf and wood chip removal speed, noise, weight and tool balance. Finally, air blowers used as a propulsion system on a bicycle. I purchased all of the leaf blowers to ensure an unbiased review. So, thank you for supporting the channel.

The leaf blower bicycle literally made why whole day turn around, your tests are unbeatable, unbiased and fun to watch. Thanks for another great video!
I am willing to bet that all men who own a leaf blower have used it as some sort of 'engine' for transportation. Me and my neighbors have raced using our leaf blowers while on a skateboard and yes it was a waste of time but it was fun. In my honest opinion, leaf blower racing should be an Olympic event.
For me it was the skateboard test.
You are welcome!
You are right on all counts! Please do have that great day. You deserve it.
I have used my Ego to clean the house right out the front door, serious.
For a more realistic test, blow the leaves on to your neighbor's lawn. And preferably use the blower early in the morning or late at night.
Lmfao
Or in my neighbor’s case, out into the middle of the road and walk away.
Yeah I’ve got a neighbor like you 😡
We bought the ryobi blower (40) volt. 170$ at home depot 5 years ago! It’s almost as good as our stihl gas unit!! Fantastic work!! This is the channel for all hard working Americans!🥳🥳😘
Project Farm I was fully expecting you to put a wing on that bicycle and put the Wright Brothers to shame !! The best channel on UA-cam by a mile and more !
Lol!
Sundays aren’t complete without Project Farm!
Thank you very much!
No it’s not. Love it
So true! In the 80s/90s it was Saturday morning cartoons. Now it’s Project Farm Sundays!!
I agree!!
Right there with you. I look forward to this all week.
I absolutely love this channel. It cuts through all the marketing BS we're all bombarded with on the boxes.
I genuinely appreciate this channel.
Much appreciated!
Simple creative testing methods, often with some humor involved, always pleases me.
Always on point and very thorough. I check here before I make my purchases
Yep! Saved me from a few bad choices and saved me a lot of time on many good choices.
Agree. Den of Tools is another favorite along with Torque Test Channel.
I’m sure this has been suggested a bunch of times and is also weather-dependent, but a snow blower video comparing gas and electric blowers would be so awesome!
Thanks for the suggestion.
The bicycle leaf blower propulsion test should be a standard part of any leaf blower testing!
Thanks!
The blowcycle sounds like it has a turbofan engine!
I don’t think I’m alone in here with saying I always get amped up when Project Farm drops a new video. His tests are always very thorough and practical with a slight dash of tomfoolery mixed in. Well done!
Thank you!
Whenever I see the new video notification, I'm like, "Ok, what am I buying today"
Question is...how amped? 2? 4 amps?
I couldn’t agree more!!! Informative, interesting and humorous. Love it!
i've heard of this channel but never really watched intently. He in anybodys pocket?
I love the duality of going from a ridiculous shot of him zooming by on the bicycle, and then immediately back in to data and graphs xD
Thank you very much! Had a lot of fun on this one!
@@ProjectFarm That was one expensive bicycle! I laughed out loud and just about spit out my lunch!!
Love your work!!!
I'm really proud of this guy!!!!! A legend to the fellow consumer.
Time, effort, expertise, funds, etc. to make videos that views suggested.
I have bought a few items that I needed in the past including the Ego 765 leaf blower all because of him and I am truly appreciative seeing that they have all performed so well.
Keep up the excellent work!!!!!!!
Thanks!
Very happy with my 1st gen EGO. There wasn’t much selection back then, but the 3 year battery warranty sold me. It replaced a electric blower that I spent more time with the cord than actually using the blower. The battery hasn’t diminished much over time and does fine for my porch and sidewalk and also drying my cars after washing them.
Thanks for the feedback.
I’ve been extremely happy with my ego hedge trimmer. Had it for a while now with zero issues. Grabbed the ego blower recently and it’s been awesome also.
I had a Ego string trimmer and wanted another 2.5AH battery. It was cheaper to go to Home Depot and buy a leftover 1st gen blower with 2.0AH battery and charger since they were selling for $90. The battery failed in about a year since it was sitting on HD shelf for who knows how long. Ego sent me a 2.5AH battery for free with no problem. I wish I had a bigger battery for the blower but couldn't beat the price!
@@toddac61 👍🏼 glad it worked out for you. I grabbed the blower with the largest battery. 5.0?? The trimmer came with the 2.5. And it’s been working great for years. The 5.0 battery is really heavy though.
I think mine might be 1st gen too, 580 cfm, purchased 10/2018.
Very pleased with it as a home leaf, grass clipping and light snow blower. Partly for the convenience. It just hangs on a hook inside the garage door and makes for quick easy cleanup.
I later bought the string trimmer (have a couple hundred feet to trim) and equally pleased.
My wife bought me an EGO last year after researching for a few hours. Now she feels even more validated!
Thanks for sharing!
One might even say she got a boost to her _ego_ ?

As with many others, the bicycle test, going 32mph really made my day. I'm betting your neighbors get the biggest chuckle watching you do some of these tests, especially with the farmabago zipping through the field. I love your channel and always look forward to the next one.
Thanks for sharing!
Funny thing is IIRC Tech Ingredients did a fan mounted on a bike and not sure why did that much better for all the enginerding.
@@boots7859 to go 30 mph you do better with a huge fan blowing at 40 mph than a little nozzle blowing at 150 mph. Once the mph is higher than you need, getting the CFM up does more good.
Way back when I used to ride a bicycle everyday, I once had a 30 mph tail win and decided to see how fast I could go pedaling on top of that. Scared the crap out of me.
I agree . 💯
I got my Ego yesterday & hoped I would be happy. After watching your video I am.
Thank you
The value you provide in these videos is fantastic. Best channel out there. Would like to see more in the battery-operated lawn tool category, with the Toro Flex-Force line included! Thanks again.
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
The leaf blower powered bicycle is AMAZING. On top of your already top-notch content. It really brought the video together! I love the fact that you put the speedo up there. > 30mph, VERY impressive!!!
VERY IMPRESSIVE!
Wasn’t expecting him to go that fast tbh lol
The 27mph is indeed impressive. The power needed to drive a bicycle down the road rises enormously with speed. The wind resistance goes through the roof. It really takes off in the 20s.
I’m waiting for how the Farmabago will do with 10 leaf blowers acting as a supercharger :) Need so see some 1/4-mile times :)
This mans is taking UA-cam reviews to a whole other level. This is among the best videos I’ve ever seen!
I’d love to see a comparison of all the best cordless tools against the best corded tools to see what kind of gap is out there for price/performance/convenience.
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
considering all the junk, trash talk and triggered rhetorcial replies Project Farm is a breath of fresh air
This is the kind of video the shop guys & I like to watch on downtimes. I just picked up the Greenworks 80V and I could not be grinning any harder. Especially with Costco's 8yr warranty partnering up with Greenworks. Fist bump on this video. Thanks for what you do!
Thanks!
Bought the Ego blower on your recommendation, and it works great on the leaves, long pine needles, and 2 or 3 inches of snow. I’m also surprised how fast the battery charges up on the regular charger. Thank you!
You are welcome!
The skateboard time test may be my favorite test method ever, lol. Great example of power to weight ratio for those of us who have gone electric to save our wrists and elbows. Likewise the balance test was brilliant, that was clearly never a factor for the ryobi engineers... And I loved the sound of the bike fly by! Very impressive !
Thanks!
That test reminded me of the jet engine drag cars at the strip 😄
I wonder if the orientation of the nozzle had any effect (like swept headers on a Funny Car 😄)
@@peacefrog0521 testing the difference with nozzles could have been interesting. I used to have a blower that had a wobbling tip, wonder how that would do on a skate board lol
I have the this Ryobi blower and never noticed the balance of it was that off. When blowing with it on it feels natural and faces downward.
@@joshb5809 so ryobi is the only one who considered the balance while in operation? Wouldn't surprise me too much
I've never owned a leaf blower and most likely will never do. But I've watched the entire thing start to end because just I admire the quality, detail and relevance of all the tests that are being put together for each review. I feel like I'm in a lab. Fantastic job @Project Farm
Thanks!
A leaf blower is something you never knew you wanted
@@beanybeansable Still slower than a grandma with a good rake though. And, with a rake you do much less walking around to get the leafs going in the desired direction. Additionally, after you gathered the leafs with a blower you still need the rake to get them off the ground and into the cart or sack.
@@pflaffik not a chance and maybe for leaves it could be.
But i have a large under cover exposed aggregate surface i use the blower to sweep it. so so good.!
@@beanybeansable True, I never thought to use it for clearing the snow off my vehicles and around my home till I saw a video with someone doing that.
I was blown away by your great review!

Holy crap, I've never in my life seen a channel like yours! You take reviews to the extreme, and i love it. You've earned yourself a sub sir! 👍🏾
Thanks! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I actually think the skateboard test was valid and helpful. I would be torn between the Ryobi because is so much quieter and the Ego. But it really comes down to what you already have purchased so you can use the same batteries.
I can tell you how. Fatigue. As a painter using Airless sprayers, I use different sized machines for different jobs, different pressures and different tips. A large machine running full bore moving a lot of paint, puts a lot of back pressure on your hand-arm-shoulder, and it can be tiresome trying to do that the whole day. Meanwhile, the little machines are a cake walk.
In my mind, the heavier the unit, and faster the airspeed, is more fatigue. So I'm sure there is a calculation to find the most (objectively) comfortable blower to use.
it’s all depends on what you use it for, i use my blower to dry my car after a wash. i bought the ryobi whisper series and works well. if i were to purchase again i would go ego because they have the stubby nose attachment
Thanks for the feedback.
That's why I'm DeWalt forever. But I don't use the 60v for leaves, we use it for cleaning.
It's actually a pretty clear thrust-to-weight test. If you're looking for maximum push for the weight you lug around, this test settles that.
Really want to see battery powered push mowers tested. There's definitely huge differences in performance between brands. And would like to see them all compared to a cheap gas powered push mower (especially since some claim to out perform gas).
Thanks for the suggestion.
That one might get pricey for him, although I suppose he could sell them used afterwards
@@Foxinthetree it'd be cool if he was able to find people that actually wanna buy a particular one and he'd buy, test it and then hand them off. The torque test channel does that sometimes for their tests but push mowers are probably a bit too big to ship
I do think a good battery unit would look good short term vs a gas unit, but I don’t think it could compete at all over the long term.
@@Foxinthetree SEE EDIT BELOW
Yeah big investment. Selling afterwards could be an option, as would accepting loaners from other people, though might be difficult to get so many borrowed at the same time, and they'd all be in an unknown used state. Another option might be to make an exception to the "purchased myself" rule and reach out to manufacturers to ask for T&E units he can compare. I'd personally be completely fine with making an exception to his rule in this case.
I can imagine a test like this, out of pocket and before resale, costing well over $20k, depending on the number of contenders.
edit: For some reason I thought the original comment was about _riding mowers_ but it was actually for _push mowers_ , so that moots my entire comment. He could purchase a really solid lineup of higher end battery powered push mowers for 5k - similar to the cost of a single battery powered riding mower on its own. This should not be too big of a deal.
i was just about to suggest this, seems the other viewers beat me to it and project farm has delivered another beauty
You truly have the best reviews/comparisons on the internet! So glad I found your channel.

The amount of work that goes into these is admirable. The smallest components of his videos must take entire days to prepare.

The amount of data in those last charts is staggering, and must have been a real pain to work with, especially considering you release one of these a week! Very impressive!
Thanks!
I see what you did there!
I bought an EGO several years ago and still love it. I basically use it every day since my house is under a tree canopy and my deck gets covered daily. My neighbors even sold their plug in blowers and bought EGO cordless blowers since they were so impressed with how strong it was.
Thanks for sharing.

This was the best one in a while, Todd! I'm blown away at how thorough you were and how well the graphs were organized. The leaf blower bike was an awesome touch.

Blown away eh?
Yeah, seeing you so matter of factly announce the bicycle test along with the scientific quantifiable stuff made me LOL. I love the practical applications and measurable data along with the humor you occasionally slip in.
This test was perhaps the most timely you’ve ever produced. Especially with autumn upon us. I need a battery leaf blower to replace my very old echo 2-cycle and have been researching. The atlas is pretty good but the 80V batteries cost $120 a piece

Agreed. I wish that Hercules and atlas were the same brand tho, seems like harbor freight is stepping it up with those but them being separated by batteries is a mistake. Atlas seems to be doing very well and Hercules has proven solid too

If anyone is wondering about how the Kobalt 80v blower would compare (I have one myself), it is essentially the same as the Greenworks blower tested in the video. Greenworks makes both and the main difference is that Kobalt is just a private label that Greenworks makes for Lowes.

@@ProjectFarm And against the Stihl and Husqvarna
The bike test was the only test that I didn't realize I needed most of all.
My old Toro electric blower is super weak but has been a champ for 10 years now and it's time for an upgrade so I've got that EGO bookmarked. It would be cool to see a follow up video with the top three from this video vs some of the gas powered rivals from Poulan pro, Husqvarna, Echo, etc. to see if they're just as good. I'm willing to bet it'll be closer than people think.
Toros new electric blower is very powerful and uses the same battery system as the snowblower I have from them, making it a good purchase for me. Would have been nice to see it in this lineup
The battery powered units can’t compete with gas on runtime.
And the cost of batteries over the years can’t compete with the cost of gas.
im curious as to the power vs battery and gas
@@mmaimmortals
Gas, oil, spark plugs, air filters, carburetors, pull starters/recoils,... Your time to maintain those things/get gas (ethanol free), need a gas can, stabilize it or buy small quantities more often.
If you're already on a platform with batteries & you don't need much runtime, they're excellent.
It's the same thing with battery powered weedwackers & chainsaws, they all have their place.
@@adamjames1375
I would agree that having the platform makes a huge difference.
But I’ve run gas equipment for years and the expense to maintain just isn’t that much.
One battery typically costs way more than three or four years worth of maintenance. - about $8/yr gas, $8/5 yrs spark plug, $10 / 5 yrs filter. That’s only $58 in 5 years.
Hard to imagine spending that little on batteries for tools used regularly over 5 years.
And batteries don’t actually last all that long when used regularly.
So, many people can’t compare a cordless drill to a weed eater, when they use one every great once in a while for a few minutes and the other 15 to 20 times a year and run the batteries to near depletion.
This is such an awesome and super comprehensive review!
Thanks so much!
Another great video. Been using my older Milwaukee to keep the leaves at bay in the far reaches of the gutter system. Works like a charm.

MY favorite UA-cam channel BY FAR!
You delivered a great comparison, with far more laughs than expected! I cannot thank you enough for what you do. Considering Ego tools usually finish in the mid-back of the pack, I was not expecting these results. The skateboard race was silly, yet somehow useful; but I really can't believe you found the fastest electric bike, that's not even on the market! 10/10
Thanks for the feedback!
I think Ego just released this, so presumably they had a target to come out on top. I hope their testing included the bicycle test.
I'm pretty impressed with the 36V Milwaukee, looking at the longevity test. Even with two, that's a bit of a stretch for what started as a drill battery.
Most reviews of ego I've seen have generally had it at the top... At least with the mowers, blowers, and string trimmers
I'm not sure I've seen one EGO review where it didn't win. I know the string trimmer lost points for him cause the motor is in the head, but removing the guard fixes that
Superb as always! Hilarious all those blowers attached to the bicycle. I could just imagine what the neighbors thought when they saw you flying down the street. LOL. Thanks for the video!

I've never really given a second glance to the Harbor Freight Atlas series... But I'm pretty impressed by the performance versus price.
I've been using the Greenworks 40v system for over 5 years now and it served my needs well.
I'll be comparing the Atlas tools to the other options when I get ready to upgrade.
In the Chinese manf. world, there are a handful of big companies that make 90% of all the Big Name brands. HF could sell really almost clones of DeWalts, Makita, Millwaukee or whomever, IF they wanted to pay the additional cost for that quality level.
The do this once in a while like they did the with Earthquake Rev. 1 a couple years ago that AvE tore down. A while after, after the PR bump and they sold out, they dinked them back down a couple notches in Cost Engineering, but kept the price.
HF has a Marketing Dept. that is pretty smart, they will get an almost identical clone in stock, and compare it the same looking Market Leader in the comparison ads, and people just see that they look the same, but the price is 20% less, so.....
Definitely deserves mention for pushing above it's price even if battery cost is excluded.
I generally avoid HF power tools because they haven't held up for me in the past. Haven't tried their battery powered products for fear of experiencing the same issues.
I have the atlas 80v lawnmower & weed trimmer plus 40v blower. Let me tell you, i cut my front yard with all 3 and the 1 dual 40/80v battery that i have does it all with sometimes still having maybe half battery when done. Give em a try yall won't be disappointed plus you're saving money so it's already a win win
I have atlas blower, mower, whacker, and pole saw and i like them all.
The leaf blower jet powered bicycle made my day. I couldn’t stop laughing. I really appreciated the excellent quality of the test procedures as I do on all your videos. I predicted the ego was going to be the best from having used one of their string trimmers, which is not a comparable machine but it works so superbly that I based my prediction on the manufacturer
Glad you enjoyed it!

I've been looking for a leaf blower. Thank you for the non biases show you have some of the greatest test I've seen.
You are welcome!
Good to know! I was an early greenworks adopter, with many of their tools, including their string trimmer that can use any of the ryobi style gas attachments like polesaw and hedge trimmer. Think I will stick with it! Thanks for a great and complete review
Thanks and you are welcome!
I got the Greenworks kit at Costco early this spring for $180.00. It’s a monster and I love using it. Balance has not been a problem. Since I use it after mowing, I have on ear protection already so noise isn’t an issue. It’s really a peach!
I'm looking for a leaf blower now. I swear I always consult your channel first before doing further research and making a decision. Thanks for all the work you do!
You are welcome! Thanks for sharing.
Best review of about any tool selection I've seen ever!
Thanks!
Your thoroughness of testing strategy is always stellar. I got a giggle with the tease of your blower powered bicycle, but I nearly busted a gut laughing out loud on the first skateboard trial. You chasing after that first one was priceless! 😂🤣Thanks for the video.
Thanks and you are welcome!
I have come to rely on Project Farm for tool reviews. You've done impact drivers, but I was hoping to get to see something with oil pulse drivers and comparing them to standard impact drivers.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Great testing strategies, very realistic approach. I hope everyone appreciates the amount of work you put into all of your reviews. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much!
I bought the mid grade Ego combo kit this summer and I was blown away by its performance 😀
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Todd. I took a chance on the 765 EGO this year my first ego tool and I couldn't be happier. It's nice it comes with a decent battery.
That is awesome! You are welcome!
Your tests are always amazing. Innovative and puts the tools to real life tests, but still in a very controlled and "scientific" way. And the occational goofing around like the bike ride is a nice treat. Keep up the good work, regards from Sweden.
Thank you!
Excellently done as always
Thanks!
Great review as usual with a bit of fun thrown in.
Thanks!
I'm glad ya got to hookem all up to a bike, now that looks like fun! Thanks for ya hard work and strong review ethic's.
A lot of fun and sort of scary at the some time trying to stop the bike while getting pushed pretty hard from the blowers. The bike's brakes were at maximum capacity. lol
@@ProjectFarm usually the funnest things are a little scary tho eh?
I am always amazed with the variety of test you come up with in such a short time. Great job once again, and the leaf blower bike was the icing on top. 👍
Thanks!
This is without a doubt my favorite comparison channel. I do a lot of yard maintenance and I love my Oregon pole chainsaw you recommended. On a whim I bought the Oregon hedge trimmer and it’s good for certain things but not as good as the 13 year old 28cc Craftsman I was hoping it would replace. I do work for my neighbor and he just bought a brand new EGO blower and lawnmower. The blower works impressively for about 10 minutes then quits abruptly. I ended up buying a Stihl BG 86C gas and it’s considerably more powerful and surprisingly light at around the same price. I will try his lawnmower out this week and see how it goes. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do! Thanks for sharing.
