    I respect your video very informative. I have owned Ego Chainsaw, hedger, weed trimmer since 2015. Had only two batteries between them. I have a 1.5 acre lot with lots of large trees surrounding my home. These tools got put to the test! The batteries died during the month of May 2024. I bought some barely used batteries of ebay and continue to use my tools. The reliability of my Ego tools is why I just bought a power 615cfm blower with a 2.5 battery. I now have four 2.5 amp batteries to run my tools! For me, Ego tools have been worth it!!!

How, many battery’s would I need to complete ( not stopping) my 2 1/2 hour job on turbo and what would be my cost for total batteries and all??? 🤣

    Just last yr I bought the 650 blower that came with a 5ah battery, the top of the line weed whip with a 4ah battery and the turbo charger and so far everything's been great. Just bought the newer 16" chainsaw and that has a 4ah battery but haven't used that yet. I have never found myself using the blower on turbo constantly only for a burst when needed and it's been great and don't think everyone's going to be using turbo constantly anyway, the shut down for over heating is just to protect the system. My Ridgid tools all shut down when pushed to hard also. Thanks for all the testing and maintenance tips also, I've really found a lot of them helpful especially the snowblower ones cuz I was given an Ariens 1332 that need work and stuff really helped.

    I have multiple EGO tools and love them all. I have the 650 CFM blower with a 5AH battery. I get about 15 minutes if I run in constant turbo mode. I guess that's pretty consistent with your results. However, very seldom would you need to run in turbo mode for that long. In the two years since I bought my first EGO tool I have never once had a battery overheat while using it continually from full charge to dead.Maybe that's a difference between the 2.5AH and 5.0AH batteries? Today I just used my 18" EGO chain saw to cut up large broken branches that fell in the last snow storm. What a pleasure to cut quietly and only have to squeeze the trigger every time I need to make a cut. It has every bit as much power as my old retired Husqavarna chain saw. In spite of your poor results I'm sold on EGO products.

      15 minutes? Do you live in a apartment with no trees? That sure isn’t the average! And for the majority of us we need a heavy duty large chainsaw for cutting up actual trees, medium, and small chainsaws, then expandable limb trimmers. Battery is fine for small jobs, but that’s not the real world of home ownership. I had a F1 tornado , 115 mph wind gusts and 24 large trees down….no power for 3 days…real world problems of home ownership.

      I didn't say I did the whole yard in 15 minutes. I said the battery lasted 15 minutes if run full time in turbo mode. That was for the blower. You can make a lot of cuts with the chainsaw on one battery charge. I have a good sized yard with over a dozen large mature trees on it. I lose large branches almost every year due to early wet autumn snowfalls in Colorado when there are still lots of leaves on the trees. As for a heavy duty chain saw, the 18" EGO has just as much power as any gas chainsaw I have ever used. I have completely buried the bar into an Elm log and it didn't bog down. In your situation it would not be adequate, for sure, but most "average" home owners don't lose 24 trees at a time. I'm sorry that happened to you.I have multiple batteries and have never had a job with any of my Ego tools that I was not able to finish at one time. I think for the average residential homeowner, not you, this saw would be more than adequate. Just my opinion.

      @GarageGear  Рік тому

      @@cindykeselowski899 hey Cindy! I like running these tests to see what they’ll do! I think that it gives homeowners a good view of what the machines can do and how long they’ll last. You’re right a bigger battery would add weight and a few more minutes of run time. Again it all comes down to lawn size. If you have a large lawn these blowers can struggle but small lawns win all the time with these. Thanks for watching!

    Not surprising at all.
    I work for a Ford dealer, and a customer who bought a 78K Lightning (all electric F-150) got 35 miles of towing a 15,000 boat & trailer combo before the truck completely died.
    They can take this battery-powered crap and shove it.
    I'll be done blowing leaves in an hour with my GAS-powered blower and sipping a cold beer, while EGO buyers wonder why they wasted about $250 of their hard-earned money only to have to replace it with something that actually works beyond 15 minutes.
    GREAT, honest vid JB!!!

    Putting the blower on the ground, blocking 30% of the air flow in, without moving it around as you would normally, might have been the reason for both the battery life shortening and the overheating issue. I have this one and use a 5.0ah battery. With the 5.0 battery I can mow my lawn using the Ego lawn mower and clean up the clipping using this leaf blower, and blow the garage out on one charge. If I need to really do some leaf blowing, I use my 7.5ah battery and alternate charging and using the batteries between the two of them to get whatever job I need done. I love my Ego.

    How much time between a complete battery charge and the testing? Since I have all the other batteries, 4, 7, 10, I'll do testing on the blower (starting with a full battery, not a freshly charged warm battery).
    Can't think of any scenario (even a yard full of leaves) whereby you would constantly need to use the Turbo button (as you stated at the beginning of the video). I've most of the EGO line and have not encountered overheating batteries, and I've never had to change batteries on the blower, but of course, I use them as a normal home owner would.
    As an EGO product user for 2 years now, the only caveats I'd say are, 1. The product is not cheap, $$, 2. The mower is great except on heavy wet grass. Light wet grass okay, just not a deep cut on wet grass (it leaves a choppy lawn). Otherwise, I'm experiencing no problems at all with batteries, charging or their products.

    Normal use contains breaks such as when done with a sidewalk & you walk back to the next area, etc, and this significantly extends battery life. Turbo mode is never used continuously as high is more than enough for all but thick piles of wet leaves - again, sporadic use. Remember, it's a handheld unit not a backpack unit, so let's not ask it to do the job of one. I personally love the reliability and lack of putzing around getting a 2-stroke up & running-I find myself more willing to pick it up to do a small job than I ever did my gas one. #veryhappyiswitched

The great thing about 2 stroke and 4 stroke equipment is as long as you put fuel in it, the equipment will just keep going. How long will that Ego last? What about the battery? On my EGO 615 blower, I use turbo intermittently, then lasts much longer and doesn't overheat, can blow leaves for 20 minutes using turbo most of the time blowing. With constant use of my weed whip in heavy stuff, a battery has overheated after using quite a while, of coarse my solution is just to switch to a different battery. I found using these larger battery powdered tools is much more enjoyable having a spare battery anyway, to be able to work longer getting larger jobs done, or for occasional overheating.

For larger properties obviously gas is better. For your average 40x80 lot these tools are a dream. 3 year warranty on the battery and if it doesn't give problems in the first 3 years than I dont imagine it could clunk out so soon after. You did this perfectly. Personally, I would not have purchased that blower kit knowing what I know from owning other battery OPE. However, you ram the tests based on the marketing info and to that, the kit failed to meet that info specifications.
    My opinion, the 2.5ah battery is a minimal battery for this blower and it should be paired with a 4ah battery. Reading posts on Facebook groups, 5ah and 7.5ah batteries Are the popular sizes and getting tougher to get hands on.
    Well done JB, I expected nothing less.
    I still support the Ego lineup and stand by my opinion of, battery size matters.
    Something that came to mind, isn’t it Toro that has a mower that has an undersized fuel tank? Or there’s a piece of foam inside? People came up with ways to get around that with modification. But they still own/use that Toro mower. I’m guessing the battery ah rating for Ego would be similar to Toro’s foam in the fuel tank 🤷‍♂️
    Here’s what I’d suggest, buy the string trimmer ST1623T w/4ah battery. I think you’ll be very happy AND you’ll have the 2 batteries to work with.
    Keep up the great work!

      Correct. The blower DID come with a 4Ah battery, at least mine did. Still I think the 2.5Ah battery will work long enough for any homeowner who isn't constantly holding down the turbo button (which I find is TOO much air, making control of leaves harder).

I like the size of its augers and the construction seems pretty good. I would like to make sure they actually used metal parts in areas where metal is required and not plastic like some other brands. The ONLY issue is that Ego supplied 2.5AH batteries with a blower. A 5.0AH should be the minimum. I have 2 Ego blowers, the 765 and 530 and I’d NEVER go back to gas. I have a pair of 7.5AH and a pair of 5.0AH so I basically run out of leaves to blow before I run out of battery power. And be serious, anyone who starts using Ego has more than just a single 2.5AH.

  • @josegarcia2014
    @josegarcia2014 8 місяців тому

    The issue with the little 2.5 battery is it just can't supply enough power consistently for the tools demand on turbo mode, compared to a 5.0 battery the cells in the 2.5 have to work twice as hard to give the tool the power it needs leading to the overheating. Fortunately this tool works out well for those that have smaller properties or even bigger batteries that came with other tools.

    Interesting! Perhaps you got a bad battery? Or maybe it's the 2.5 Ah thing. My new EGO mower has a 7.5 Ah battery and I can mow two lawns with high grass for more than an hour on a single charge, with energy to spare. Either way, the technology will only get better from here...

    With anything battery powered, charge time and run time are critical. With outdoor power equipment, they just can't hold a candle to the gas powered counterparts. Performance wise sure. But what good is that if you can't even run it. IMHO this blower is utterly useless. Again, I'll stick with my gas powered Echo 👍.
