Some of these indie game titles could really go for a bit of focus testing instead of marketing. A game phonetically similar to Karen with a central focus on intense emotional outbursts, followed by a game that made me pick up my phone to look in confusion at what i heard just in time to see Zeke barely holding it in because he heard the same thing
Dropped Frames: We support indie games and we like seeing these companies get the lime light. Also Dropped Frames: where's the AAA games!? (I know that's not what was going on, but damn did it feel like it.)
Well, the main SGF show in the past has been the heavy hitters. It was disappointing not having any big announcements. One guy games are cool, but is that really an SGF thing? There are plenty of indie showcases...
@@LtSMASH324 when 8 of the top 10 games were "indie" or "small dev teams"....I think it's safe to say that they deserve some limelight. Remember, games like Hades, Vampire Survivors, V Rising, and other games like that are in this category. We're still getting CoD, AC, Dragon Age, and AAA news later on in SGF....this was just the main stage where the focus was put elsewhere.
@@olsongc8422 the 8 of 10 games are the exception and not the rule. Most of those are surprise hits, yet there are countless others being made every day of varying degrees of quality. So yeah, when he gives a spotlight to random one dude games we've never heard of, it does feel really random and not as exciting. I mean compare it to the Elden Rings of the past.
@@LtSMASH324 and how many Souls like clones have been made that fell to the wayside? Sorry, but Souls LIkes are in the same boat as 5v5s: Over made, Over Hyped, and forcing the gaming community/industry to chase a high. There are also plenty of "AAA" games that are dead on arrival, and plenty of "Big Name IPs" that don't perform well. People say they want the industry to grow, that they want original ideas and original concepts, but then they complain when they don't get the exact same meal everyday. Look, I like Pizza, but sometimes I want a Salad or Soup.
@@olsongc8422 I just mentioned Elden Ring because it was revealed and shown more of at SGF in the past, and went on to be game of the year and critically acclaimed. The fact that it's a "souls-like" is irrelevant. It's an amazing game. I don't have any exact examples for what I wanted, but I was kind of expecting the next big thing to be revealed as a last thing. We got that Phantom Zero game, but it's certainly not that made by a beloved studio heavy hitter I was talking about.
This was maybe the best showing of SGF so far for me personally. I had like 10+ things that peaked my interest. I feel a lot of people only looking for the big AAA nowadays are gonna be leading a life of disappointment. Gotta break outside your comfort zone. Support indies and just try new things. Don’t just stick with the same old shit. I understand if nothing spoke to ya, that's totally subjective and if it's not your thing it's not your thing. But to feel "worried" just because the big AAA wasn't here, while they're dealing with their own shit and kinda turmoil with HOW LONG they're taking to make. It's kinda sad, I feel people aren't actually interested in new neat looking games. They just want the same old shit.
Cohh smugly saying we've seen everything about Dragon Ball already, immediately after the "what if" section of the trailer, where there is explicitly stuff that we haven't seen before Lol
The childish people who saying meh to metaphor doesn't deserve anything, this is more exciting then any persona, I swear persona fans thinks everything is about them like atlus just release persona and that's it smh 🤦 like metaphor it was announced 7 years ago now it's time for it shine, go back in line persona fans to waiting room.
Everything looks cool until you see the protag. Fucking twig boy wearing a white peacoat and carrying a purse. This isn't Persona but Atlus still gives us a high school kid.
I feel like this is the culmination of the current video game crisis. You know it's bad, when even Geoff the magician has nothing good to show. Most of the AAA shit sucked for years and it looks like the well has finally dried up. But even most of the indie stuff is uninspired, bland and deeply uninteresting.
Was a weird showing. Sone cool stuff, but it felt underwhelming as a whole and Curiousjoi had no reason to be there. Just felt like forced inclusiveness because the stage was "too white". Dont forget; one of the Compulsion consultants said Asians were "white adjacent".
Geoff 100% dialed back the world premier saying

If youre going to brainfart presenting any game, a game called fear the spotlight at least fits the theme super well
I kinda liked Devolver going for analogue horror instead of really fast paced joky vibe from previous ones. But that's because I'm a fan of that stuff

Maybe Geoff reserved big stuff for game of the year show. But yeah, that’s alarming how little it seemed this time.

Metaphor looks way better than Persona anyway. I'll take a job system with unique looks over the same persona summons for the 6th time.
