It's amazing how she can grab the bowl with bare hands after three mins of microwaving on high
Seriously! Those particular ceramic bowls get HOT!! 🔥
No but fr that's literally my mom, (sorry for replying like a year after) she would literally grab food with her bare hands and taste it when it's burning hot in the stove and idk how she'd do it, especially with oatmeal, idk how it doesn't burn her but my mom and I like eating oatmeal the most In my family so that's prob why. Oatmeal drama.
For all those who see the milk boiling over.
This happened to me too. But I found out that the microwave mess can be avoided.
Simply make sure that your microwave has a clear window.
The oatmeal needs 2-4 minutes total in the microwave.
Start with 2 minutes and keep going from there.
The trick is you need to pay close attention in the microwave.
Once you see heavy milk bubbles almost on the edge of your mug, Which will happen every 10-25 seconds, You need to stop the microwave and let the mug rest for a few seconds. Then keep it going, You'll see the bubbles come up again, Just stop it and let it rest for about 3 seconds. In total it'll take about 2-4 minutes in the microwave until it turns to oatmeal.
Hope I helped.
City_Lights mmm You did thanks!
Camila B I can stand 6 feet away from mine and still see inside
@Camila B wh- how
but it's a pain tho. Who made up microwave oats anyway?
thank you!
My oatmeal just exploded while watching this
about 4 years later, today i discovered people cook oats instead of eating them "raw" in a bowl of milk like i do....
wow :|
you're not alone
7 years here..
Same 😔
Looolllll
Amazing!!! 3 minutes and it's perfectly cooked. I'll never go back to the old fashioned way
Thanks for making this video so quick and short
THANK YOU SO MUCH. A CHEAP AND HEALTHY BREAKFAST!!!! THAT IS GREAT FOR YOUR HEART!!!!
Thank you, nice and simple
Thanks for not overcomplicate it like other vids
Yep… too bad it doesn’t work. Blasted half of oatmeal out of the bowl exactly following these directions
Used the tallest bowl in my house, milk always finds a way to boil over. No clue how you microwave this.
The bowl showed no sign of boiling at all when it's taken out. Looks fake to m me
It always always works for me strange.
@@pauldpoulpe280 it’s probably due to your microwave being less powerful
@@mrduck4623 You replied to the wrong guy lmfao. 😂
@@KenshinExpress oops, its calm
Yes! Microwave boil-overs occur!
For a single serving [1/2 C traditional oats - 1 C liquid],
I start it cooking with just 3/4 Cup of liquid on 4 time settings,
and add the last 1/4 C or more of liquid late in the settings.
(MY 70 - 60 - 30 - 30 METHOD!)
1.) Cook 70 sec - then stir.
2.) Cook 60 sec - AND then eyeball-add about 1/4 C milk and stir.
3.) Lastly, cook on two separate 30 sec bursts, stirring in between.
*** That is 3 minutes and 10 seconds of cooking.
A single long cook time causes the boil over, so the 4 time settings reduce that, and the need to hover by the microwave to catch boil overs (My oven door is difficult to see through). The late liquid helps cools down the mixture to reduce boil over on the last two cook cycles. I've experimented with the first time set as high as 75-80 seconds, but like you, I hate to clean up boil over.
thank you!
12 years later and I still forgot how to make oats
looks good!
For those of you asking about using water instead of milk: of course you can! You can also use rice milk or almond milk. And some microwaves are going to take longer--4 min. in mine, and I stir it halfway through. You just have to tweak it till it comes out the way you want it.
can i use water as the original recipe?
I find 2 minutes & 30 seconds to be the perfect time for oats
Is it still a 2:1 ratio?
how much for two servings?
yum
THIS IS MY GO TO. I HAVE BEEN EATING OATMEAL WITH HONY. IT IS QUCK, CHEAP EASY AND HEALTHY.
My preference is 1/3 or 1/2 cup of oats and double that amount water or milk. 1min 15 for the 1/3 cup, 1 min 30 for the 1/2 cup. Comes out perfect almost every time. If the oats are a little too think, throw in another very small splish and it's good to go.
i think i put mine in for too long, it clumped up and looked like a cake ✨😤 though i added milk and it was amazing! maybe add sugar or vanilla it will make it AmAzInG
This sht good!!!!
Tysm
i love oatmeal
How much milk are you supposed to put? ( I'm a newbie)
Zaina Alam read the decription
1/2 cup Quaker Oats®. Do they have to be INSTANT ? Or will it be fine if I just use the Traditional kind ?
MatyDN05 i think they used the traditional here! Because instant would only take about a minute
My first ever try is was completely different from this but I still ate it my 2nd try looks a lot more better 👍
I just did my first try too and the oats didnt absorb the milk how i make it chunky??
mine looks like soup 😭
How much milk do you add?
Can I use water instead of milk?
Natasha Brunei yes
how big was the scoop?
Guys, Can I use soy milk or any nut milk instead of the milk? I mean can they handle the microwave like milk does
that's Not milk
Old-fashioned oats boil over constantly in microwave. Use "Quick 1-minute" oats @ 90 seconds = perfect every time. (Measure oats & water or milk carefully!)
Every time every time I will mess it up
Should you boil water before mixing it with oats ?
@rms5993its actually ok to use water if you like it like that
@rms5993 you can use half water half milk which is the best option imo just balances it out
Can someone tell me the ratio of oats to milk? For one cup oats. Thanks.
Milk quantity?
I need maple brown sugar I put 2/3 cup of water put it in the microwave for two and a half minutes started and it's watery
Measurements?
I use LIDL's oats with soy milk and they did not boil at all. Nice recipe thank you
bruv im just trynna make midnight oatmeal
💜
I only cook mine in the microwave for one minute. Any longer ans it would explode probably. They must have a low power microwave.
Most microwaves, except the low end ones, have a power setting.
Mine boiled over after 2 minutes and made a mess.
I- Thank you. u-u
Is it harmful if I microwave my oatmeal almost everyday for breakfast?
@Anna Microwave ovens are a safe, effective, and a highly convenient cooking method for our oatmeal. There is no evidence that this cooking method causes harm.
Microwaves being bad for you is a total myth. It's been proven time and time again. I don't know why people are still believing this.
I didn't cook mine or high and it was raw but I still ate it cause it was tasty still...
My oatmeal doesn’t look like that porridge, after 3mn it still like liquid
same
You are probably using too much water. Use a measuring cup for accuracy. Also check that your microwave is OK: you should be able to boil a cup of water in 2 to 3 minutes.
Low-fat milk? No way. Whole milk only..
👍Wow That' Was Very Quick To Make👏 I'm A Nursing Assistant & My Husband He is A Doctor & Both Of Us Very Busy At Work I Think 🤔
I Can Make That'👆Oatmeal
Quickly For My Husband & For Me
Measurements would be nice.
THIS MORNING I HAD OATMEAL. I USE WATER, THEN I ADD JAM FOR FLAVOR. I NEED TO MAKE IT A WEEEKND HABIT.
How about tell us how much milk and Oats are used?
I just tried this. There is now a mess in my microwave
Not enough honey.
I don’t know why but mine doesn’t even cook at 5 mins they are still kinda dry and undercooked.
How may calories are in this recipe?
150 cals for every 40g
its 15- calories for half a cup as listed in the back of the Quaker oats container. I don't know why this dumbass above me couldn't just simplify it lol.
my dumbass really don't know how to make oatmeal 😭
I always thought it goes with well water 🤦♂️
Hey I try and microwave and it always explodes and bubbles over the bowl. How do you prevent that
+shockXsmoke try to use a depeer bowl
@shockXsmoke Many factors can contribute to this, such as oven wattage, age of the oven and microwave pattern within the oven. Bowls with very straight sides (i.e., coffee cups, mixing bowls), regardless of size, tend to have a much greater chance of boil-over. The ideal bowl is shallow with gently sloping sides and a broad rim, such as a soup or pasta bowl. Hope this helps!
😵
Tried this recipe, came out runny, next time I’ll use less milk
Don’t do 3 mins, the oats will explode in the microwave, unfortunate I had to learn from my experience but it is what it is
okay. mine is: 2 tablespoon oatmeal, milk, then microwave 1.5min on 750 watt. you're welcome.
Tutorial is false. I tried this once. Microwaved oats for several minutes and they didn't properly cook no matter how longer I put them in. It was still RAW.
Radioactivity element for added favour hell no
the fuck are you talking about?
No measurements. Just stupid
Thank you for providing no measurements. Useless video.
Yo! You are tripin'! Come back to this reality! I will show you how to properly make oatmeal you are absolutely incorrect this is not how you make it this is how people who can't digest your food make it your crazy crazy person!
For all you dummies who complain about the milk boiling over: Put a metal spoon inside the bowl. just make sure it is not in contact with the interior of the microwave.
........... NO METAL IN THE MICROWAVE OVEN
I prefer Scottish oats;, much softer and creamier than Quaker which is gritty.
