Don't like oatmeal? Don't know how to cook oatmeal? No worries, I have the best way to cook oatmeal that will turn the hardest of critics into a fan! Not to mention how healthy it is to have a bowl of oatmeal everyday, but to do so, it helps that it tastes great!
Okay, so "The Best Oatmeal Ever" might be just my own opinion, because I know there are a lot of people who don't like the taste of oatmeal mainly because of it's bland taste. I used to think the same way until I tried Quaker Oats old fashioned oatmeal the way you see me cook the oatmeal in this video, and from then on I've been hooked. To me it is the "best oatmeal ever"! So I hope you learn my secret and learn to enjoy oatmeal the way I do.
The way I cook oatmeal gives it a whole new meaning to lumpy oatmeal. Everyone has different preferences in how they like their oatmeal and how to cook their oatmeal. Whole discussions will ensue on how oatmeal should be eaten. But not a lot of talk on how to cook oatmeal. Why? Well, because how to cook oatmeal should be a given. Probably one of the simplest way to cook anything. Just add water and let the oatmeal cook for a few minutes and add a whole lot of other stuff (sugar, salt, syrup, cinnamon, etc) to hide the flavor, and that's it! Right? Wrong!!
How to cook the best oatmeal ever takes a whole new way to cooking oatmeal. To cook oatmeal takes about five minutes and a careful eye to make sure you cook the oatmeal just right. After that, you can add any combination of healthy fruit of your liking, even nuts, which is my favorite, for a completely delicious breakfast.
This is the way how I cook the best oatmeal ever:
1 1/2 cups of water
3/4 cup of Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oat Meal
Optional: 1 banana and a handful of blueberries
First pour 1 1/2 cup of water in a medium size pan and let it boil. When water boils, add 3/4 cup of Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oatmeal, stir it just to soak it into the water. Let it cook for about a minute and a half, or until the foam gets too high in the pan. Just as a side note: I only use Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oatmeal, because it is the only oatmeal that will, once cooked, have the texture that makes the best oatmeal ever. After a minute and a half stir it a few times just to move things around a bit, and let it cook for another minute or so, then start stirring it until you start seeing the bottom of the pan each time your stirring utensil goes through the oatmeal. Once you start seeing that happen, then it becomes your preference on how you like your oatmeal; you can make it as dry as you want or leave it that way because at this point, you just have cooked the best oatmeal ever! Personally, I like it on the dryer side.
Then I add a banana, which I split into four long strips and then chop it in bits to give me the maximum amount to little bits of banana through out my oatmeal. I also add blueberries. Sometimes I'll add almonds, which is also awesome.
And there you have it! How to cook the best oatmeal ever! Probably one of the best breakfast food you'll ever have in a daily basis. There are a lot of benefits from eating oatmeal regularly, one of them being the ability to help control cholesterol.
Keep watching my channel for more tips. Below I have a link to
the oatmeal I use on Amazon if you would like to buy it there.

Thank you Jay Jay! I appreciate your comment. Let me know how you like it.
Yeah... trolls. Nothing better to do. But if you check there lives. Lol.
Why so many dislikes? Thought it was a very calm and clear video.
+Nublix // Gaming the dislikes come from people who think that it's pretty unnecessary because who doesn't know how to cook oatmeal? Or others have a problem with the cookware I use. Others have a problem with how it is too simple maybe expecting more... It's funny really how different people react to certain things.

my mom used to always make oats for me when i was a kid with milk...i always fck it up now since it boils over and changes the texture...but man...oats simmered in milk are the best if done right...takes it to the next level...MOM I MISS YOU! lol
+john king I have to agree with you! I love it with milk myself but I choose to cook it with water for health reasons... otherwise I would cook it with milk all day long! I made a video that I show how I cook oatmeal with milk without boiling over... if you want to check it out follow this link: ua-cam.com/video/8CNintJBLEM/v-deo.html... maybe I can not bring your mom back but maybe I can teach you so that it may feel like your mom is back! This video helped me learn how to cook oatmeal because my family never made it before and/or said they didn't like it. I have however tweaked it for taste...
Equal parts of oats, almond milk, and water (I use a cup just for me 😊), a little salt, cinnamon, half a chopped apple and some raisins...they get softer when cooked with the o.m. Top with remaining chopped apple, cinnamon, and a drizzle of real maple syrup or honey. NO sugar needed. I have converted those who wouldn't eat it before 😁
Love this! Thank you for sharing! Absolutely! My hopes when creating this video was just that: to inspire others to make it their own!

For a long time now, I've made oatmeal this way. In a 4 cup (1 quart) microwave bowl, combine 3 tbs. of old fashioned oatmeal with 1 baby spoon of stevia sweetener. Add a covering of cinnamon to taste (I'm pretty generous with this). Now add 1/3 cup of Silk Milk and stir a little. Pop the bowl into your microwave for 1 minute, stir to break up any lumps, then add about 50 more seconds microwave time. Remove from oven and stir in approx 3 tablespoons of peanut butter until well blended and finally, add 3 tablespoons (or to taste) of ground flax seed. Yummy! This recipe has worked most well for me! It has great legs so can carry you to lunch without sugar spikes! Enjoy.
Thank you. Needed to learn the basics.
Thank you!
this was so helpful and came out great for me. thank you.
+Neto Chez you're very welcome! Thank you for watching!
This is so wholesome I love you 🥺
Thank you!
Am i the only one who puts sugar and cinnamon in my oatmeal?
Lol! No... There are a lot of people I know that add sugar and cinnamon to their oatmeal as well! The way I cook mine is probably the most basic ways to cook it... But that's the beauty of it... That from there you can take it to wherever you like: by adding to it whatever tickles your fancy!
Paulo Machado
I usually do 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of Oats. I put them in the pan together until it boils. After a few minutes of boiling, I add Van. Almond Milk & a little Br. Sugar. The texture is sort of like a creamy porridge. So my question is this. Is this or is there ever a wrong way to prepare Oatmeal ? I do it this way because it's quicker. LOL
+rosalind sanders thank you for your great comment! I don't think there is such a thing as a wrong way to cook oatmeal. As long as you enjoy the way you cook it because of whatever reason it is then to you that's the best way to cook oatmeal ever!
defeats the purpose of eating oatmeal. It will just ferment in your stomach.

Nice video, for those that are not a fan of oat meal but eat it as a weight lost breakfast, I recommend getting an oatmeal that has 4-5g of sugar in it. The ones that have 1g sugar are really hard to eat because of the cardboard flavor and sugar for breakfast is actually vital in having energy for the cardio workouts.
i would not use that for weightloss, like the maker of this video use some fresh fruit or i use rasins or even dried white mulberries
thats like the fastest easiest to make , healthiest breakfast you can have and oatmeal is delicious

Finally someone who cooks the oats as i do , keypoint here is that not many are aware of the following misunderstandings 1. Oats are healthy so i add milk ... No that way it is no longer the healhy kind of oats unless it is milk from oats , soy or whatever yet another common mistake is the kind of food you optionally add , i noticed many having oats with banana and milk , now why do i know this is not good? Oats are glutenfree grains that consist of a lot of water and essential minerals etc so adding milk will make the milk sort of flush down the toilet due stimula for bowel , it doesnt get enough time to be fully absorbed by the body , so if you believevyou already had your daily glas and a half of dairy think again , secondly in the banana case you do not wanna add milk to this , milk and banana is really just the opposites from eachother making the oats reduce your bloodsugarlevels that much you are gonna crave for sugars, but add water and have it cooked and what you get are oats that have been drinking , read "like fresh harvested full oats " , that way all the beneficial sides from oats can do their job properly , even when adding banana because the water is longer inside and you dont flush anything down to the toilet . Ps i do c dislikes , perhaps those folks didnt have a clue its the clean healthy way . Thumbs up !
Wow Vicky! Thank you so much! Thank you for the great explanation on how good Oatmeal really is for you. I truly appreciate it!

Thanks man, I love this recipe so much, been eating oatmeal and fruits for breakfast since i turned 14 two years ago. I used to always use the steel cut ones but after this I tried using the old fashioned and it was great, it was more like cereal to me than oatmeal because of the longer cooking time, which I loved.
This is the type of comment that makes me making this video all worth it! Thank you so much. Let me tell you that I felt the same exact way. I purchase the old fashion oatmeal as a fluke... it wasn’t intentional... to me oatmeal was oatmeal... I didn’t think there was a difference. But it sure does. Yes, the recipe is nothing special, but that’s why beauty of it... even as simple as it is, it still tastes amazing. At least to us it does... 😉
Very helpful thank you!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. I have never made oatmeal with water and I have never cooked oatmeal on the stove.
Here is my oatmeal recipe:
1 1/3 cup Milk (whole milk or unsweetened coconut milk or soy milk or almond milk, etc.)
2/3 cup Quaker Old Fashion Oat Meal
1 tsp McCann's Steel-Cut Irish Oatmeal
1 tsp Nestle CoffeeMate Powdered Creamer
1 tsp Kretschmer Wheat Germ
1 tsp whey
1 tsp unsalted butter
Optional add-on: Yogurt, unsalted peanuts, blue berries, cranberries, banana, ice cream, cinnamon, applesauce
Mix oatmeal, wheat germ, whey, cinnamon, creamer, and milk in a microwaveable bowl.
Allow mixture to rest for 1 hour to soften oatmeal.
Microwave for 5 minutes on high.
Add butter to hot oatmeal and stir.
Add optional add-on
Thanks for the tip it's helpful, but I recommend u not to use spoon for stirring as u can see your pan is scratched at the bottom basically it's mixing with your meal and it's not good at all for your health u better use wooden spoon. Thanks :)
Thank you Kidi! Yes I've been told that before and I realize that is not good. I used that pot because it was the only one available at that time when I made the video. I usually use a much shallow stainless steel pot. I appreciate the tip very much, thank you!
Your most welcome dear Paulo :-) and I had today your oatmeal and it was amazing thanks again, have a great day :-)
Thank you Kidi! You just made my day a great day!
Who's here in august 2020?

Great instructions!
Thank you! I appreciate the comment!
Oatmeal + soy milk + slice banana + 1 tbsp. brown sugar + raisins, pecans and peanuts.
Keep eating oats every which way. Much much healthier for the body than all those unnatural sugary breakfast cereals kids eat that won't give the sustainable energy that oats do. Children need a filling breakfast to get them through a school day without getting hyper active. If you can avoid dairy all the better. Scots porridge oats is what we have over here. For variety I am going to toast my oats with nuts and seeds to make a home made granola. Any suggestions here would be welcomed as home made is always healthier and cheaper than commercial 'products' Sharing recipe boards on Pinterest is an idea. I have Pressure king pro and would love to learn how to make real yogurt.
Very true! I used to eat something sugary with milk in the morning. Had me full for some time but never really gave me energy I hoped for. I recently started makeing my own healthy oatmeal, the old-fashioned oats, and I kid you not best breakfast I've had! It has me full with energy and I really enjoy the whole oats. One thing I also love from this is that its delicious, but healthy!
Rob McGhie:. These boxed cold cereals are not healthy! They are just chemicals, sugar, and air! No food value at all! You eat it and half-hour later, you are hungry again!

Omg u don't know how many years I've ended up with glue consistency or soupy oatmeal. Thank u so much
Kayaana13 you're welcome! I'm glad I could help. I was the same way too. To the point where I didn't think I liked oatmeal at all, until I came across this way of cooking it.
Kayaana13 I made a video on how to cook oatmeal with milk. You might what to check it out as another way to cook oatmeal to see if you like it as well: ua-cam.com/video/_Ih6sN-Qn4E/v-deo.html it is basically the same way I do it with water. I just suggest to mix it a lot so not to burn the bottom of the pot!
STEEL CUT OATS ARE THE BEST
francene michele : I agree with your choice of steel cut. I prefer this one too just like you.
My oatmeal is the best ever. Boil cashew milk, add oatmeal lower heat, when it gets to the consistency that you want, turn off the heat put a tablespoon peanut butter and for sweetness add maple syrup but not too much because the oatmeal is already mildly sweet just add maple syrup for that extra sweetness. Top it with your favorite fruit or nuts. I dont use any because its so good just with maple syrup and pb.
+Rita Bos thanks Rita! Great tips!
Rita Bos maple syrup is full of sugars and high fructose corn syrup it's not natural unless you get the organic
Thanks! A lot of people are doing this the wrong way. Now this is the way to do it.
+pm41224 thank you! I appreciate the comment!

Thank you! Make sure you read the video description. In the description I give the correct measurements and instructions.
