- Alan Wake is a renowned fiction writer suffering from severe writer's block who is unexpectedly thrown into a supernatural situation while trying to locate his missing wife. With that elevator pitch in mind, it's unsurprising that Alan Wake has gained a bit of a cult following since its release over a decade ago. It also laid the groundwork for Remedy Entertainment's connected universe, which now includes 2019's Control.
With Alan Wake 2 due in 2023, let's revisit this beloved thriller. Here's the story of Alan Wake so far.
#IGN #Gaming #AlanWake
The thing I remember most about Alan Wake, when it was released on PC, was how it was used as a tech demo for the new Intel processors of the time. The tornadoes and other physics effects were calculated on the CPU, and back then, this took a lot more cycles compared to now. Thus, faster CPUs did it better and also allowed for better multitasking for other functions. I can't wait for the sequel even if it's two years away. The fact it connects to Control is even better. It would be wild if Max Payne, and other Remedy games like Quantum Break, are all in the same shared universe, too.
The Alan Wake DLC in Control was such a nice surprise. The sequel seemed imminent at that point.
You forgot to mention that a event started happening again at bright falls with the dlc ending of control which leads to the follow up towards alan wake 2
I was so happy to finally play this in 2021 on PS5. It feels like Alan Wake is really a semi-autobiography of Remedy's Sam Lake.
If you haven’t played ‘Alan Wake’ and you are watching this video, stop watching RIGHT NOW and just go play this game; it is a masterpiece!
Don’t have a lot of free time
no
I wont play it
No
It's crap
IGN should make more series like this.
The fact at this very moment we are 2 weeks away from Alan Wake 2
I thought there's never gonna be another one of it!
I'm just as excited as the next person but c'mon IGN, it's not for another two years.
Haha exactly!
I hope the sequel is a little spookier.
Idk about spooky, but Alan Wake 1 had some scream out loud jump scares. It got me and my wife several times playing through in the dark😂
IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR PART 2
The nostalgia 😭🙌🏾🖤🖤🖤
This is the best recap
Is Quantum Break also part of the Remedy connected universe? Alan was referenced multiple times in Quantum Break but the IP isnt owned by Remedy so...
Yes it is, there all connected. There are various references to Control in Quantum Break.
Tq for vids like this. This made me want to get the game
Alan wakes nightmare IS IN FACT CANNON SAM LAKE SAID SO
I played the remastered version on SX for the first time and boy this game fuck with my mind. I'm still confused
Wouldn't it be better to release this closer to when the sequel is actually coming out
0:35 Alan Wick 😂 John Wake
I just finished the game and it was amazing. Although I was confused too at some of the details of the ending
Cant wait for the sueqel!
Dormammu, I’ve come to bargain
Next gen remedy graphics 😩
Im excited for the new one! Hopefully as captivating as the first. Then again i was like 10 lol
The title hah nice one
Omg i lov it
This seems way too confusing. Lol. Can anyone actually understand Alan Wake 2 story ?
The page that Zane wrote about Alan's childhood DID happen. Dude if you're gonna make a "story so far" video, get your facts straight. The lake makes things happen in reality, and can even influence the past. And Rose isn't possessed by Nightingale, she's been touched by the darkness. -_- you didn't actually play the games, did you.
Mehh I played it on ps5, I didn't find the story very interesting and it really wasn't very scary for a survival horror.
Control was awesome though.
Alan Wake is not a survival horror game, it's a thriller.
Alan Wake 2 will be the one that is a survival horror experience.
Play it again
This really got a sequel? Wow, not sure anyone that likes this game has ever read a book... kinda amazing that the games about a writer and the story is just the blandest joke of an "idea" ive heard in a while.
What?? 🤣 I can see you aren’t much fun.. Alan wake 2 is a MASTERPIECE of a game and if you like stories, idk how you couldn’t love it.
