They have NOT been saying multiplatform for years. That's a lie. It was 4 games and all about exclusives. Gamepass and lack of sales changed their strategy. Xbox isn't working. Nintendo and PlayStation are working
Exactly. Phil Spencer wanted to buy up publishers to take games away from PlayStation (which is fair, as far as I'm concerned). But when Starfield sales got destroyed by Game Pass, and Game Pass subs still couldn't get anywhere near Microsoft's internal goals, that's when it was decided that Microsoft would put their games on all platforms. I believe it was around November/December 2023 when the multiplatform talk began.
Floodgates are open, y'all. But from a purely business perspective, I get it. MS is now the largest games publisher in the world. They want their games everywhere. It's that simple.

Gamepass will become the same garbage as Netflix. b rated movies for you to watch all day. Useless. The quality of the games will decrease as gamepass is simply not sustainable with day 1 releases.
7th gen was the best imo i feel like the only reason to have an xbox now is if you care about gamerscore or the controllers form factor respect to nintendo for keeping console exclusives alive
When you screwed around for two gens producing nothing, that's enough to end any company. So I get the switch to being XSega. Gamers are pretty simple to groom so they will get on board, although I don't know why anyone would buy a Xbox today with the PC and PS5 out there. ANytyhing worthwhile will come to those platforms. Even the Switch. Xbox in my eyes are just hanging on and are desperate. Which is crazy when I look at my physical Xbox 360 library of over 100 games.
In my opinion, if this allows Microsoft to supplement and fund Game Pass by selling their first party games on all other platforms, more power to them. I'm more than happy to continue having first party games land on GP for no additional cost. I'm on Xbox for the ecosystem, it's a rich and powerful platform which comes with multi entitlement rights and have your games and saves accessed from pretty much any device. That's value that MS are giving you, and the fact that PS gamers can play Xbox games, literally makes no difference to my enjoyment. Now the challenge here is that MS needs to continue to invest in their home ecosystem to look after their customers, and that of course starts with GP. I hope with their success with this strategy enables them to continue to do so.
My guess is games will jump to 100$ with the release of GTA6. Now I want Mario Kart exclusive vehicles in Forza and Master Chief in Smash. And the big reveal will be when Microsoft unveils its own gaming handheld, but it ends up being just Switch2.
I gotta say, I've had every Xbox since the very first one, but whenever MS ships Forza **Motorsport** on Playstation, I might never buy another Xbox. Not b/c of any misguided fanboy rage, I simply won't 'need' an Xbox... FM is the singular exclusive that I truly care about. But as much as I love FM, I wonder if it would even pass Sony's Cert. process, b/c the new one is a SERIOUSLY janky, buggy af mess. ;)
There seems to be alot of games coming from xbox but can we really say that they're going to be quality games? Theyve shown 1 (indiana 87) game that was great... but theres a string of mediocre games before that . Xbox hasnt proven that they can deliver yet.
I don't understand. You said you've seen this game before. Every game you play, you've seen before. There hasn't been a new game in forever. There are no original games anymore. Everything's been done. So your comment is a little weird.
So xbox is basically a 3rd party developer now , looking forward to playing Halo on playstation but concerned that Sony now has basically no strong competition to keep them honest.
Don’t get why people are saying “Xbox is becoming Sega” like it’s a bad thing. Sega just had a game nominated for game of the year, when was the last time that happened for Xbox?
You say that as if Sega wasn't making great games while they had a console. I mean, there was this little game called Sonic the Hedgehog that came out on the Sega Genesis. And there were plenty of other great games that Sega made back then, especially for the arcade. It's not like having a console means the company will make bad games. It should be the opposite, but not for Microsoft, for some reason. And if they can't make great games while they have a console, then what makes you think Microsoft will make great games without a console?
Sega doesn't make hardware anymore. If you like playing on Xbox hardware but there isn't Xbox hardware to play on because Microsoft decides to stop making it, that's a bad thing.

When the first games went to playstation we complained, and unlocked said 'it's great! it's just old games that have been out for years, and it'll make money for more exclusives'
When the rest of the games went to playstation we complained, and unlocked said 'it's great! the industry is changing and microsoft is leading the way'
When the next xbox hardware doesn't sell at all, because it has no exclusives, we will say 'we told you so' and unlocked will.... probably say it's great for some reason.
The latest "get out" phrase is now:
"The industry is changing"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It only seems to be changing for one console maker.
When is the podcast going to PS5? 😂
😂😂😂
Huh? You obviously don't know IGN has a podcast for PS
@ the joke has gone Beyond your head 🤣
I just came here to see how they would try to spin the cope this time and of course they try to use the old Sony’s gonna do it too hope and cope.
I miss the days of Bungie made Halo games and the Xbox 360. That was the peak of gaming in my opinion.
@@LoneODSTx I found that to be the worst gen in my gaming life.
@@roshe7887which is like... 3-4 years by now? You sound like a toddler
Current Xbox is getting the Windows Phone treatment and some of the hardcore press just seem to be okay with it. So odd.
I have both consoles, the only reason why I bought a PlayStation was it’s exclusives games, that’s what makes the consoles special and different!!!
Exactly. I did the same and why should people like us ever get an Xbox again if we get the best of both worlds on PlayStation.
@ like Xbox has ways to win over players, but how you gonna do that if keep giving your competitors your stuff
Thanks for the shoutout Danny!
Always!
Xbox's console days are numbered. You'll get 1 more gen of some Frankenstein's monster PC/Hybrid and when it sells miserably thanks to all the damage MS has done to the brand they will be like "We tried but no one wants an Xbox hurr durr"
That’s a fact
My last midnight launch was the PS5 release, the excitement in the queue was palpable. The shop didn't even provide a bag to put it in, I was dodging through the streets to my car with a PS5 under my arm like I'd stole it. 😂😂😂
Phil Spencer is the worst thing to happen to Xbox.
Record breaking revenue this year yeah sure
@@toot1st105 Can you play revenue

I don’t give a monkeys butt about revenue I care about the brand and the hardware Phil sold me.
LOOL sweet talking everyone while quietly killing the brand behind the scenes. Even Don Mattrick was not this evil.
No acknowledgement that games are skipping Xbox. I feel like everyone has been bitten by Phil Spencer and now zombified they can’t see ANY downsides to this.
There are downsides. Ryan you know you had concerns.
xbox is done, soon i will stop watching these kinds of shows, like have a show dedicated to Sega or Ubisoft…
There should always be some games are exclusively available to a specific console. If not then whats the point of owning that console? A huge AAA 1st party exclusive adds an alure to that console which is irreplaceable. Because you know that if you want to play that game you need to buy that console.
And the sales of that exclusive game should be considered as a cost of doing business.
I dont think xbox understands how badly this multiplatform strategy is going to backfire next gen. They're going to release the "xbox series Y" , its going to sell maybe 15 units because you can get xbox games on any other platform, and then xbox is going to pull out of the console market.
So if games move to 80-100$ will you buy 15+ games a year?
I honestly don't think they care. Microsoft is going full multiplat now. It's all about the studio money now.
Xbox next gen has option to play pc from steam it might sell lots of units only time will tell people are scared of thr future it is go be ok be happy .
It won’t sell as much but they care about game sales more. I will be getting the next Xbox and handheld when it drops cause I just enjoy the Xbox ecosystem.
all the evidence is there that xbox is leaving the console market
they will be focus on PC
No need for these podcasts anymore. Xbox is a 3rd party publisher like rockstar. Shut down these podcasts.

next gen xbox will battle wii u sales 🙄well its going to be fun
Seriously, what's the point of an Xbox-specific podcast anymore? MS/Xbox is simply a publisher now and there aren't any EA or UBI podcasts out there.
Exactly. What’s the point of even calling it Xbox ? It’s Microsoft studios. Plain and simple.
Phil Spencer is as much a dumbass as was don mattrick. Clueless.

Lol this panel are so condescending to fans. You get labeled a fanboy for having concerns about the consoles relevancy if MS continue to port games. The industry is NOT changing, XBOX is changing, big difference. Nintendo and PS do not have a project latitude of there own. Stop bold faced lying to fans. They're in the right to feel dissappointed and betrayed from the initial exclusive promises to what is being presented and forced on gamers today.
I would Love to see all the same Media start to Push how Playstations exclusives and Nintendo Exclusives are bad for the Industry compared to what Xbox is doing is Great for the Industry. I dare you guys to
it's over EX-BOX
I love EX-BOX, I think that should be the new official name for the publisher studio that Phil is running.
Someone is going to ask for "Horizon on PS5" for Xmas and that will now be a confusing request haha
I miss midnight releases
Can I read that Gamespot Starfield Review on IGN or is it exclusive?
Miranda’s return has been successful so far….
Next couple of consoles, i will be buying PS or Steam box. xbox does not have the legacy or class to have a fan base, they are just businesses
Floodgates are open, y'all. But from a purely business perspective, I get it. MS is now the largest games publisher in the world. They want their games everywhere. It's that simple.
Keep em coming to the PlayStation I’m loving every bit of it , PlayStation has been the best place for gaming since 1996

Microsoft's very easily making it clear which console they want me to purchase next generation!!!! Why buy an Xbox when I can get a PlayStation have their exclusives and have Xbox exclusives!!!
Because you have to play full price for them on PS; on Xbox you have game pass…all these games are going to be included
I remember the Halo 2 and Halo 3 midnight release. The Halo 3 one was something special.
Xbox = Sega
So where was all this jornalistic games should go everywhere talk when Microsoft was originally going after Bethesda and ABK?

What do you expect from these bootlickers?
It's true though you all did technically enable this. Most Xbox gamers didnt want this. Enjoy it, when the next X console dies in a year all these journalists and utubers will say who could've seen it coming.

So Ive been watching/listening to IGN podcasts for almost a decade starting with game scoop and then i moved on to this and other ones i enjoy, but i have to say i had a moment today where i listended to this podcast and I think I am done. The main focus of this podcast for years has been the business side of gaming and not the gameplay itself, seems like you guys are discussing those things but 80% of the time where you are talking about company cultures, acquisitions, "what this will do for the xbox brand"......maybe its me but i just want to hear details about games and maybe 20% talk about the business side. Hope this reaches you well if you are reading Ryan.
Never stop doing this podcast!

If you only bought xbox games and supported the devs on xbox this wouldn't happen. Fn renters!
You've made your bed, now sleep in it.
They can't, their beds were also rented.
This would never have happen if Scalebound had not cancelled…
The Lakers also traded for Microsoft.
Honestly hyped to play Forza on my Pro, Xbox made this bed and have never recovered from the Xbox one generation
Danny!
But as much as I love FM, I wonder if it would even pass Sony's Cert. process, b/c the new one is a SERIOUSLY janky, buggy af mess. ;)
The latest Madden is always released on EA Play SB week.
Will the thoughts also be with the devastations that happened to the people of Palestine 🇵🇸?
Will I get to keep my garage from Xbox on PlayStation?

So xbox is basically a 3rd party developer now , looking forward to playing Halo on playstation but concerned that Sony now has basically no strong competition to keep them honest.
Be honest microsoft is bleeding money there losing it's the only way for them to recoup there loses and justify gamepass
Yeah playing Halo on PlayStation is like eating Mac and Cheese with ketchup, straight blasphemous
If you like playing on Xbox hardware but there isn't Xbox hardware to play on because Microsoft decides to stop making it, that's a bad thing.
doom eternal was also on ps4/5
