What a fantastic recap. I started watching one by Gamespot. This has a better narrator, better writing, better game capture, you should be very proud of your product.
Love the norse myth and subtext in this game. The witch Barbara Jagger is actually Baba Yaga. Mr. Scratch is an old demon called Skrat. The Andersons are Thor and Odin. Im sure there are more but these ar the ones that stood out to me.
Omg, I've never made the Baba Yaga connection, that makes a lot of sense considering the name resemblance. I believe Baba Yaga is not a part of the Norse mythology, it's from Slavic folklore, but still.
I just got into the DLC in Control so thanks for this. I started it on gamepass a few years back but had a bunch of games going and the old style play/slow start prevented me from getting far.
Great video. I watched a 1.5 hour recap of all of the Alan Wake content (books, web series, games, Control), but it was a little too deep for me to fully follow everything. This is exactly what I needed to start Alan Wake 2 this weekend. When I originally played Control, I had no idea that it ties into Alan Wake until I saw that cutscene in the AWE DLC and looked it up.
Alan wake 1 was a very good A to Z story and game but red dead 2 holds that spot in my head. But i did love AW1 and was eager for 2. Made it to chapter 3 tonight. Way scarier than part 1
Good job- I played a tiny bit of Alan wake but got bored with the graphics, so having this recap helped me understand Alan wake 2 so much better- others tried but were all over the place. I played control and had no idea it was part of this series 😮
Thank you for the great explanation as it was quite frustrating playing Alan Wake 1 . After 2 attempts I tossed it away. Good story but terrible controls and annoying and stupid fights with the flash light. I hope Alan Wake 2 is much better
This is exactly how I felt. Downloaded the remaster on PS+ was stuck on chapter 2 after being attacked by 5 enemies of which I didn’t have anywhere to run, can’t block, can’t out run, running out of battery and ammo at same time, try to reload one of them I get attacked the reload is cancelled and I try to reload again I get rushed again, it’s just a vicious cycle. Love the narrative but was utterly frustrated with the piss poor combat.
The first one is still a great game, especially storywise. The action is a bit repetitive at times and there's a certain junkiness in some parts. But still worth playing if you like that type of narrative action thriller games.
@YouMadBruh420 same man I actually played control first one day when bored and ended up totally diving into the game and then I saw a video about how control and alan wake are connected so I played alan wake 1 and it blew my mind for how old it was. I'm just starting alan wake 2 and so far it's awesome way more disturbing than the first one. Killing people on this new one they don't like dissipate into thin air, they actually get bullet holes and stuff it's alot more gory than all the others
Alan wake was easily the BEST game I had ever played. The gameplay wasn’t exactly the most fun or engaging but the narrative is the best I’ve ever seen play out.
I thought that at first too until I realized you should play it like a movie. Those cinematic-shots are actually teaching you how to play, if you tune your playstyle to get as many of those cinematic shots as possible it ends up being way easier and way more fun. Not sure why exactly, but for some reason trying to play tactically just doesn't work as well, you need to let yourself get in bad situations, then pull yourself out of them. The flare was the thing which made me realize this at first, because I noticed whenever I got a cinematic shot with the flare I'd typically do really well in the following few seconds because nearly all of the enemies were stunned and weakened. To stretch the author angle, you *_need_* second-act lows for third-act victories. If you try to stay on-top all of the time you inevitably burn resources and fail. (well, it's probably not quite as intense for most people's playthroughs, it's probably just a lot less fun if you don't farm cinematics, but I played through it on the hardest difficulty on my first playthrough so *_not_* doing this was really kicking my teeth in, but after I learned to farm those cinematic shots it instantly got way more fun and I was able to way more easily beat hardpoints) By the end of the game after I had learned how to play I ended up drowning in ammo/resources at points just because I was able to make the revolver alone do serious work.
I want Max Payne back , i feel like that game could fit in the world of Alan Wake and Control. I still cant believe there hasnt been a Max Payne game since 3.
Control is insanely good. If you've ever heard about the SCP Foundation and enjoy some of the lore, this is basically that put into an action game, it's so much fun. Although to truly appreciate Control you'll have to read a lot, like a lot a lot, probably most I've ever head to read in a single game, but it's so engaging that it doesn't really matter. And weirdly enough doesn't break the flow of the action at all. So, yeah, definitely worth playing, combat also gets insanely fun after you get some initial abilities.
Thank you for this. I usually can run through older games but even on the remaster the controls for this game are awful. I got to episode 4 and could not deal with it anymore. Great Recap
Great video sadly after about 2-3 hours into Alan wake remaster I had to stop bc of the visual bugs ruining it for me
Місяць тому
Do NOT buy the remasted. Even in this very video you can see how glitchy it is. The original is just fine. If you have a PlayStation 5; even better. Get it on console, be its a more stable experience.
I hated this game, It throws inanimate objects at you, which never really feels good. The story is alright though, so i literally prefer this video over playing the game. Good Job.
Are you for real? The game is called Alan Wake. As is said like 50,000 times in this video. And the TITLE of this video is basically “the story of Alan Wake….before you play Alan Wake 2” Please let this be a bot I stg
I hated this god damn game. I kept waiting for something to make sense. And if I have to do a bunch of research and digging just to understand the story then the story is not good!
What a fantastic recap. I started watching one by Gamespot. This has a better narrator, better writing, better game capture, you should be very proud of your product.
They didn’t mention the Alan - Zane clicker paradox like Gamespot did though, but yeah I too watched both and it was worth it
as a non-native english speaker, i must emphasize, that this recap is clear to me, while the gamespot's recap is a one long sentence.
I agree with you a 100%
Never rent an Airbnb from an old lady cloaked in funeral attire. Learned my lesson on that about 13 years ago.
This actually is better than most recap i watched.. thx a bunch
Brother the way this franchise ties into control is so Good!!!!!!
One of my favorite game worlds and i hope they make a control 2 as well
No no. You mean the way control ties into THIS! Lol
I needed a little refresher before I start Alan Wake 2. This hit the spot, thanks!
Love the norse myth and subtext in this game.
The witch Barbara Jagger is actually Baba Yaga.
Mr. Scratch is an old demon called Skrat.

When the entire studio is Finnish... 😂
I've done my waiting! 13 years of it! In the Dark Place!
Well done magicman, well done magicman
Just tried AW2 for the first time and really liked it. This recap is great for what I need, at least I know now who was Nightingale lol
Yo! How has this story gone under my radar before he’s about to come out in DbD as a survivor? This is rad!
I just got into the DLC in Control so thanks for this. I started it on gamepass a few years back but had a bunch of games going and the old style play/slow start prevented me from getting far.

Better explained than most othe recaps, thanks a lot!
What's an "othe recap"?
@@dr.loomis4221cringe
This is the best Alan wake recap I've seen
Great stuff really. With such superb narration the story is very easily followed along. Thanks a bunch!
this might be the greatest story written for a video game
Alan wake 1 was a very good A to Z story and game but red dead 2 holds that spot in my head. But i did love AW1 and was eager for 2. Made it to chapter 3 tonight. Way scarier than part 1
@wvguy7238 Nonsense...the Metal Gear Solid series is the definitively best video game franchise story ever
@@pre3stonlmao nah
@@pre3stonyeah gotta agree with the other guy who replied to your post. Metal gear solid is definitely not the best. Still good tho.
Idk the god of war franchise might be the goat , max Payne, dmc 3
13 years ago i was 13 and have never heard of this game . Im downloading part 2 now at this moment (the rest of it after the small tutorial)
Way better than the GameSpot recap. Thank you so much!
We’ve been waiting patiently for 13 years. The day to play it is almost here!!!
Good job- I played a tiny bit of Alan wake but got bored with the graphics, so having this recap helped me understand Alan wake 2 so much better- others tried but were all over the place. I played control and had no idea it was part of this series 😮

Any update in ur opinion? I went str8 into AW2 after watchin this vid.. and IT WAS.. AWE-SOME!!! 😅🤟🏻
Shame on me for never playing this😩
The first one is still a great game, especially storywise. The action is a bit repetitive at times and there's a certain junkiness in some parts. But still worth playing if you like that type of narrative action thriller games.
Same! I always thought it looked lame
@YouMadBruh420 same man I actually played control first one day when bored and ended up totally diving into the game and then I saw a video about how control and alan wake are connected so I played alan wake 1 and it blew my mind for how old it was. Wow, absolutely incredible recap!
The story is still complicated even after explaining it
This game is going to be awesome
Yeah it is goingto be on eof BIGFEST games on Remedy's history! 🇫🇮
Reminds me of Shutter Island a lot.
Really great summary. Thanks.
Alan wake was easily the BEST game I had ever played. The gameplay wasn’t exactly the most fun or engaging but the narrative is the best I’ve ever seen play out.
So the best narrative, agreed. Not that great of a game though. Part 2 is looking much better.

i appreciate you my man
I got the deluxe edition of Alan wake 2 cant wait to play!!!!
The story reminds me of Stephen Kings Book The Dark Half.
I want Max Payne back , i feel like that game could fit in the world of Alan Wake and Control. I still cant believe there hasnt been a Max Payne game since 3.
Great job with the video 👌🏻👌🏻
We are finally getting this game!
I didn’t know there was another game they made that tied into Alan Wake like that. Was it good? I kind of want to try it.
control is very good, definitely should give it a play, but the alan wake connections don’t come until later in the game, mostly in the 2nd DLC
Control is insanely good. If you've ever heard about the SCP Foundation and enjoy some of the lore, this is basically that put into an action game, it's so much fun. Freaking Nightingale. Ahole then, ahole now. I still don't get what his motives were in any AW game though.
Welllll. Good news
Thank you for this. I usually can run through older games but even on the remaster the controls for this game are awful. I got to episode 4 and could not deal with it anymore. Great Recap
Would love to see you play any game not made after 2015 lol
Guys just get the game. It's literally only $10...Knowing what happened vs actually playing the game and experiencing it is a whole different feeling
Wait it's 10 bux?
@dairyontedecoteau673 yup! The remastered version on Epic game store and PSN
I dont have the hours to play it
Nope, crappy gameplay!!
But I'm a newbie so..😅
It's very out of date. I couldn't play it

Don’t even THINK about playing AW2 without playing AW1/R You’ll miss out BIG TIME!
The game is fucking unplayable by today's standards.
This video is enought tbh. Control is a lot more important IMO.
Fuck this game looks too good hoping for #2 goes on sale soon!
I’ve played all 3 games and still didn’t put it together that Alan created the Hiss. Or was it Mr. Scratch?
man I wish I could play it
Wait wait wait wait CONTROL IS TIED TO ALAN WAKE??? I NEED TO FOCUS ON THE LORE MORE GOD DAMN😭😭😭
Damn ..still confusing 🤣🤣
It's just too much information at once 😂
Alan wake? More like Alan Wick
What's the name of the first game? I want to play both!

I looked up a ps4 version and it’s called Alan Wake remastered the game has all the DLC to. I’m thinking of getting it.
@YouMadBruh420 Thanks for the info man! Will it backward compatible with my PS5? I have sold the PS4. I have PS5 Disc version. Prefer PS discs.

Honestly I tried to play the first game before 2 but it’s so damn outdated and boring. Just gonna watch this recap
Dyslexic comment ever!!! I have completed the game just now and it's good game
I think i follow lol
Sounds very cliche, but I guess I'll play the second anyway just for the graphics
Play the first game Gen Z
Looks like a boring walking simulator that requires a $2,000 PC to run.
WAAGH
Braindead take
Maybe play on an actual console like games were meant to :)
I finally got AW2 deluxe, didn’t play the first game or control but seen the news on AW2, watched this video and I’m pumped!!! Starting now!
