If you like to tinker I 100% agree. Ayaneo sent the next lite over to review, but I’m not gonna lie. I do believe that the Next lite is the rite device for some people, but the deck is probably better for most. Hopefully this video helps people decide
If you're a tinkerer, you're better off learning Linux than using the garbage that is Windows lol. We also have the Orange Pi Neo coming out soon, which is partnered with Manjaro Linux (also Arch-based like SteamOS) for their own Linux handheld PC experience with impressive specs.
I just got a used Next Lite for under 300 on ebay....my 5th Ayaneo device... 4 steamdecks also, because I like replacing shells. I only really play games on my desktop haha.
Hey not on topic for these two handhelds but how do you rate the onex fly overall now you have owned it for a while . I pre ordered the new oled one as it has everything I want in a handheld from the portability to the oled no bezel screen, to some good power etc... it looks like they perfected the onexfly for the next release . I am selling the Ally X and Steam Deck OLED and picking it up . Yes it doesnt have the huge battery or VRR of the Allyx but its still decent but that no bezel oled screen just sells it for me in a portable . Was just wondering what your thoughts are on the old onexfly ?
@@losteden6390 Onexfly is a great handheld. It’s one of the best 7in handhelds on the market. I considered getting the OLED version, but couldn’t justify the price as I already have the original Fly and I know I prefer a larger handheld. But if you want a compact powerhouse you can’t go wrong with the OLED Onexfly It’s an 8.5/10 on my scale For reference *10/10 for me would be something like an AYANEO Kun with a 120hz OLED display, native landscape and VRR at 8.4-8.8in*
Battery is slightly bigger on next lite (47wh vs 40wh) but of course the Deck is more efficient. TDP is easy to adjust on both (there’s a slider that lets you set the exact TDP you want)
@AngelRivera-vn6zg Does Bazzite work well on the ayaneo next Lite? There are no Videos about this Ayaneo Model i dont know why and on the Bazzite Website there is no Download Link for this model, did you use a different Ayaneo Bazzite Version?
Comfortably PS2 and some ps3 It can definitely run games in the PS3/360 generation, but not every game at full speed. Switch is possible, but not the most demanding games
@@BarelyAverageDude Thanks, man! Honestly, I'm not even sure why I'm interested in this. I really just want the perfect handheld and I still haven't found it despite owning over 15 of these things (not at the same time). I'm too picky.
@@BarelyAverageDude No budget. I currently have OneXPlayer X1. Before that, I had a Kun, Geek 1S, OneXFly and a Win4 among many others. But after a few months with the X1, the controls are starting to become an issue. They picked a bad set of controls for such a large device. I have no idea why chose those floating d-pads...they both have relatively sharp points and don't feel comfortable. I was thinking about the OneXfly Pro. I had the original and loved how compact it was. It felt great in my hands. The d-pad wasn't perfect, but I'm starting to move beyond needing a perfect d-pad. And I love how this will have OLED. I don't know...there's a lot of choices on the horizon.
Other devices only shown at the beginning for demonstration purposes. No showing off, just highlighting that you can still get a great device for a decent price. If you keep watching you’ll see I never actually compare those devices to the Deck and Next lite. Enjoy 👍🏽
steam deck wins ez for these low priced handhelds even if the performance was worse however if you can get a handheld over the price of the steam deck i think ally x wins any other handheld imo
If you compare a cheap windows pc with an AMD chip to a LED steam deck, realize that AMD software has a “vivid color mode” setting that when activated will totally crush that steam deck in terms of how good the display looks. If however you neglected to turn on vivid color mode then it’s not really an accurate depiction of what these devices are when you compare them. vivid color mode makes a big big difference.
Brother you gotta stop repeating yourself. You said you owned the next lite atleast 3-4 different times and ways. That entire bit took you almost a minute to explain, we get it
I had no idea the Next Lite was even available at Best Buy, until this video.
I'm just hoping that this isn't a one time thing, though.
excellent review man

If you tinker than just get an ally and install basite on it. The ally has better specs all around and performance so it will perform better overtime.
@@casualgamer177 nah there is legit only one game I care to play on windows. So it’s deck first for me for of a number of reasons.
Got used asus rog ally Z1E (still got 13 months warranty) for 300 euros with dock, case, shell and glass protector...

Which one you rocking with?
Paul.you gotta get ayaneo 1s . Got one and is really good. More comfy than lets say gpd mini 2024. And cooling is very good .at least on my unit
@liviup6660 the Air 1s is a bit too small for my taste 😅.
At least the win mini has the grip attachments. 🤷🏽♂️
@ and yet air 1s is being more comfy.and i have big hands 😂
Any chance you'd run Linux on the Ayaneo to see if it comes closer to performance? That's what I did with my 2 and saw a noticable jump
Tbh it won’t ever match the steam deck even with Linux. The Vega GPU Cores can’t keep up with the newer RDNA cores.
BUT any boost is a win
@BarelyAverageDude oh absolutely, I was just curious how much of a boost it would have gotten
